On Sunday April 6, 2014, Forbes Asia hosted a private dinner for Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft and co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to meet some 30 members of prominent Asian families and philanthropists from Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar and Vietnam. Gates engaged in a lively interactive discussion with Asian donors on how best to give strategically, and shared his insights on the most effective approaches to improve global health and development for the world’s poorest. The evening underscored how the world’s most powerful and generous business leaders can harness the promise of capitalism and philanthropy to make the world a better place.
