Lil Quant What can people expect when they tune in to your music? They can most definitely expect the unexpected...meaning aint no telling what ima come up with next, just know its gon be what the streets feenin for. How did you get started in music? Well as a youngen I was always putting words together..rhyming n freestyling just to have fun and play around. That was back when I was about 10 but never took it seriously. Until my uncle was murdered when I was 16 I wrote my first song and ever 8

Featured Feb. 2011

When did you decide to go into Professional Boxing and why that decision? I always knew I would fight pro at a young age, I am very competitive and with boxing, unlike other sports I only have myself to rely on. I've always dreamed of being a world champion and believe that is very possible. Do you remember your very first Pro fight?? What was your mindset while stepping into that ring?? Were you nervous or were you like "I got this"? Yea I remember I was hungry lol. I was anxious just ready to go at it. I think with the time I've had in the amateurs its killed all the nerves for me, I can't remember the last time I was nervous. My research shows that your current record is 9WINS (K.O. 2)..) 1 Loss and 2 Drawn fights..Very impressive!! What makes you so good at what you do? First off God, I've always kept him in me, this is a very dangerous sport, He is needed. Its the hard

work I put in I stay in the gym and try to train harder than what I think my opponent is. My dad and coach Larry Willis has also done a great job!!! Speaking of training, what's your typical training session like? and how often do you train? I train at least 5 times a week, it involves a lot of cardio, abs, running, and just polishing my techniques. With such a busy training schedule, how are you able to manage a personal life on top of your Boxing career? Wow umm I think of that often...I don't really, it kind of takes it away from me. I'm so consumed with the gym, that the only time I have to myself is, trying to rest. But with sacrifice comes great accomplishments! Your fighting style has once been referred to as "War". As I quote a 2007 article: "he invades their space, slides into 10

their zone to land short combinations then moves his head before any retaliation" Is your modern day fighting style similar to your 2007 self? Wow I like that, you really are doing your research. Yes I still have somewhat of that same style I've learned more to incorporate with that style I'm very strategic as I go in for the kill. Anything else you'd like to let your fans and supporters know? Any shout outs? I'm focused and training hard. Shout outs to my city and everyone that has been supportive...Team Willis, my Promoter Terry Trekas-One Punch Productions, DJ Quest, Kenny Erickson-Erickson's Drying, Magnum Ent., Gabe Solomon, Twin Cutz, Trevor Howard, Stephenson's Chiropractic, Means Family Chiropractic, Fight Zone and Ft. Myers P.A.L. lol too many...you know you cant ask black people to give shout outs!

Comedian Magnum Jackson ‌..Almost Famous.

Do you love making people laugh? Yeah in a sense..its more so uplifting for me. I NEED them to laugh @ me! Do you go to a show with a set of jokes or kind of carry some with you and feed off the crowd and pick them as you go? Well when I first started I had a list..but as I gain more experience I'm able to pick & choose where I wanna take my set & different topics. What types of venues have you been doing lately? Smaller ones during the week (bars/ clubs) & comedy clubs & theatres on the weekends. What venues do you prefer, small clubs or the theatres? It's weird its more intimate doing clubs ..but in theatres the feeling is amazing..when they laugh it carries through the whole building. So 300 laughing sound like 3,000.

Have you ever had a freeze moment...or a heckler you couldn't ignore? By Alvita Hill Yes, earlier in Featured Feb 2011 my career I had a few trying to master my new mawhy them and how have they influterial. Hecklers are Evil, they throw enced you? some people off, I usually ignore Holy S--t! Lol Ummmmm yeah! Louis them the 1st few times but after Ck, Lewis Black, Greg Giraldo, Kevin awhile I unload on them. I have Hart, Dave Chappelle, and Chris about 5 or 6 lines for hecklers. Rock....Soooo many lol. They are so Most shut up after 1 or 2. After distinct, that someone else couldn't that they get escorted out the do their material. Their On-Stage Venue! personas are Unique.

What got you into the comedy field? Not really 1 event. When I was in elementary school, kids would ask me 2 bullshit with the teacher all day so we wouldn't have to do work. We would just laugh all day. We had a talent show I was in like the 3rd grade a friend of mine got in front of the whole school & told jokes. I'm like holy s--t he crazy! But he was funny. Then like my teacher died & students were making jokes & but I was sad. Then we got a new teacher and they STILL wanted me to tell jokes ALL class-lol. They didn't give a s--t about me or the teachers lol. They just wanted jokes. I don't think you pick comedy...it truly picks you. What is the ultimate Venue and why? Ummm prolly Vegas @ The Palm...it's like the Mecca for Comedy. A lot of amazing comedians have done The Palms. Is there anything about comedy that you Do Not like? It's a constant grind...very draining. You just can't be funny, you have to

do marketing , promotions, a writer, a travel agent..lol...everything. So you wear a many hats when it comes to your career...What is the Ultimate Goal for it? Yes, but I have adapted pretty well but everyday is a learning experience...Ultimate Goal? Just get to Comedy Central & to work every weekend. Is there any international venues you would love to headline? Japan, I actually have fans there and know a few comedians that have done work overseas, they loved it! And why is that? ...what and who continues to drive you to do better and pursue the comedy?

Not "Thrown Out"..lol..Do you look to any particular comedians for guidance or that influenced your work. If so

11

Just the word "More"..it's so much more I have to learn, so many more place I can perform, so many more venues I can travel. The optimism of the profession is what drives me.

Comedian Joe Mobley Featured Oct 2010 What drives you now to continue on the long track up? My people I tried to retire from entertainment but its in my people that support me who keeps me motivated.

Is there any tidbits you can offer the readers who may want to venture into comedy? Yes, be strong, be consistent, have a thick skin and last but not least patience.

What have you been up to in the past year, since your last feature in Ford Ent Magazine? I have put out a Gospel comedy Dvd and started a comedy club Downtown Space 39. I’m also jumping back in the hip hop game cause I'm not happy with the way its going for all artist. I making a move to start pushing artist to the Next Level.

I'm a good listener and I let them feed me then I take care of the situation by using "Verbal Judo" which I learned from a wise Uncle Curtis Glasper and after that it's a wrap!

What’s your least favorite spot to perform? Well its hard to say but it would have to be any after hours spot...the people are just too wasted to comprehend. It becomes a different situation not Comedy.

Please do tell about Uncle Curtis Glasper....Influence? He's a BIG influence. He was the first one in my family to really pull me aside and told me how I really had a chance to do this at a higher level...its coming from a guy who played How do you handle those basketball at a higher level. types of situations or heck- I really look up to him he's a lers?? big inspiration.

Do you play Mentor or lay low when around these youngsters? I'm more of a mentor. Sometimes you have to step in and light fires underneath their bottoms sometimes. Other times its keepin them humble..it' s a long ride up but a fast one down. 12

Who has been your biggest influence in this game? Right now its simply My man J-Dubbie He grinds hard and his work ethic and skill level at his craft influences me to keep doing what I Do whatever that may be lol. What can we look forward too in the near future? I'm looking forward to doing my 7th Television Appearance August 22, 2011 . I will be Featured on Lee Pitts Live. I also will be looking to do major things with 239's best Female artist. Team J-Mo lets get it in BABY! It was a pleasure to interview you, hit me wit one of ya famous line, jokes, or skits before we sign off! “I aint BS'ing”..that sums it up.. that's the line I'm sticking with...Lol! Thanks for the interview its been a blast. Big shout out to my girl Vita and Ford Magazine for the interview!

Featured Oct 2010 By Alvita Hill What/Who got you into art/ photos? Cartoons got me into art..Then I seen photography as another way to capture art and people said I was pretty good at it...So I just started focusing on photography. As of lately what type of work have you been doing? Just up and coming models and music artists such as Tanisha Guice, Carolina Martinez, Josh Roshad, Whitney Plante, and of course My Payup! Crew...I had to shout them out.

Fasho..I understand...So you have a good support system around you? I would say so. Everybody believes in my ability soo...All I can do is show love and remain humble. The best way to be..So tell me what drives you to continue with photography? All the positive feedback from family and friends. That's my biggest motivation. What would be you dream shoot? A shoot with Wiz Khalifa-lol!

13

Tell me what kinda shoot you wouldn't do! Anything that has to do with heights or me losing my life-lol! So No rooftop shoots??...have you had any scary moments? Rooftops are ok as long as its not like 7 stories or more. No scary moments yet for me...models yes...lol! Is there any advice that you would like to give someone that would want to become a photographer. If its your passion, Go for it.

Meet Stephanie Alexis What types of modeling have you done? Music Videos, Print Modeling, Promotional Modeling, Online Print, Calendars, Magazines, Fashion Shows. Why modeling as a career? I enjoy Modeling, its a fun hobby, I enjoy being in front of the camera. As a model you can bring out your personality, you feel freedom to ex-pose not only your outer beauty but your inner as well. Modeling has helped me break out my shell and taught me to love myself for who I am, not for what others want me to be! List three things about you that makes you stand out as a model. 1. My personality 2. My ambition 3. My determination Do you have any other skills/talents? I do graphic design, photography, I bellydance, and love to write. What advice would you give a newcomer to the game? Don't be afraid, feel free to bring out your true self! If there's one thing I've noticed working in this type of industry is that no matter how tall you are, and no matter your size or look, there's always going to be a job for you in this

career field. You just gotta work it and be yourself! What is the biggest misconception about models? That people feel we are just beauty with no brains, just because we dress sexy and pose a certain way don't make us anything less than who we really are! Featured April 2011

Frank Lini: Welcome to “Frank” Myers We know you first discovered your talents at age 14, what circumstances surrounded this discovery? One of my cousins motivated me to get into rap. Do you remember what it felt like to release your first mix-tape? How many have you had since then? It was a really big deal to me at the time, because that was the first time my hood was gone hear Frank Lini aka “The City” take off, and I’ve dropped 5 more since. How does it feel to have that hometeam love and respect? and to see people quoting and singing along to your lyrics? I just feel blessed, to know my words touch the core of the hood, from the babies to the OG’s. I feel like they all in with me, that’s why I holla out Fort Myers Lee County damn near every intro.

What would you say is the most rewarding part of this game? To hear someone tell me my music help them get thru different situations in their life. Next is to see a crowd speaking the Gospel of Frank Lini all at the same time. Tell us a little bit about your background before your rap career took off Really aint shit to talk about, I was out here like most niggas trying to survive by any means necessary. Finish this sentence: the game needs me because: I reflect the struggle, I’m still in the struggle, I give game on how to survive during the struggle, and many of my fans want to see me make it, to them its like we made it together.

19

You've done shows all over the United States, so far what has been your most memorable experience? Having the club surrounded by police who came to serve my warrant, but I pulled a Houdini on them. Your nickname "Lee County Lini" or "The City" were those names given to you by the streets? How did that feel? It felt great to get a response from the streets. I was crowned The City because no one was fucking with me on the music tip in the city. Where can we the public hear more of your music or get in touch with you? Google Frank Lini, Itunes, Facebook. Any shout outs: All my fans! My family, my kids, and my label TOHLIH MUSIC GROUP. Most importantly to all of you who are in the struggle. If I could save em all, I would! Trussss

The Name is Rufus…..Lil Rufus. Lil Rufus, born Rufus Lowe, first fell in love with music at the age of 5. He was always around music, with his parents both being singers (although not professionally). He grew up singing and performing in the church and completely fell in love with the arts. “it helped me cope with a lot of different things that I had to deal with growing up” Says Rufus. Around the age of 10, from watching music videos, Rufus added another skill to his résumé: Dancing and choreographing. Its obvious to anyone, the love Rufus has for his family. Especially his dad who to him was a great manager, friend as well as a mentor. During his interview, we spoke of his father and the life lessons that were passed on to him: “My dad died in June 2009, on the same day as Michael Jackson. It was a big day for me as well as the rest of America. It was sad because as everyone was mourning MJ I was mourning my father. It was a devastating situation. I never thought I would lose him. Its so unreal. I try to cope in different ways and of course music helps me with that. And he was always my backbone. My dad was at every show, every event. Not only as my manager but as my father and my friend. Losing him was one of the hardest things I had to deal with. That experience helps me deal with a lot of things I have to go thru today. I wish he was here still. But things do happen for a reason. Thank God I'm still blessed and still going on. Some of the life lessons he passed on to me where: Never give up and always do your best because at the end of the day

that’s all you can do. And if the job doesn’t get done at least you tried your hardest for it to get done and that’s all that matters. I don’t want a day to go by that I didn’t do my best be cause that extra push could take Featured Oct 2010

me to the next level in life and in my career.” Aside from his father being the number one man Rufus looks up to, another great role model to him is President Obama. And unlike many others, Rufus had the chance to actually meet the number one man in America and share his gift of music with him. “It was an excellent experience. After he was announced president, I went home and wrote a song about him. That showed right there that we as people can do anything we put our mind too. My mom looked in the 21

paper and saw that the president was coming to my hometown, Ft Myers, FL and I knew I had to get to him some kind of way. So I actually SLEPT out for tickets. One night outside. With news stations and all, ready to hear my song and find out what Obama meant to me. The next morning I was 4th in a line of thousands. Being able to share that with him was a great experience. He told me I had a great voice and took the cd with his song dedicated to him. I've dreamt about that day every night since. So far, Rufus has accomplished a lot in his career. He’s had a song on the radio featuring another great artist, Plies, which have gotten rave reviews. He’s also dropped the mixtape, A Man’s Point of View which everyone is truly enjoying. He’s also completed a music video for his single Merry Go Round which you can view on Youtube.com/iamlilrufus. By this time next year, this young man aspires to have an album out, in stores and to have grace the stages of 106 & park. There’s no doubt that this man will accomplish all that in more in the near feature and truly achieve success. Which by his own definition means “I don’t count success in terms of how much money. I count success as how many people enjoy my music and how many I’ve reached with my music and the changes I make not only in my life but in others life as well. It’s a joy seeing people singing my songs and relating to my songs. “ With that definition, I would say, he has already achieved it!

Sweetie: In a league of her own. What is something your fans should look forward to? Most definitely my mixtape. It’s highly anticipated. I’m also trying to get a video in line for “Foolin It”, which was actually the first song I ever recorded.

One of them said “Do a song about niggas having a good woman at home, yet he fucking with these off brand hoes on the side”. So in Beast that’s where that “Fuckin’ Wit’ dem bottom feeders, lil Daddy U off glass” comes from.

I heard that you write your own music. What inspired you to write songs like Foolin It, Beast, and Tickled Pretty? Wow, well, “Foolin It” is super personal. It was something I was going thru at the Moment so it was an extremely fresh subject matter. Beast and Foolin it was a Mixture if things I was going through and also things my friends were going Through.

What is it that you think makes your music so easy for people to relate to it? I take suggestions. Not only that, I don't sugar coat. It is what it Is. Everyone has a story to tell that’s similar to someone else’s. “Everyone has a story to tell that’s similar to someone else’s.”

It’s important to have many dimensions to you as an artist so that people can relate. Who inspires you as an artist? No doubt Whitney! Because vocally it gets no better. Lauren Hill definitely , because she sings, acts, and is one of the best lyricists in our time. Psycho Joe: A Man of Many Titles What have you been up to since your last feature in *Ford*? Same thing I was doing before the feature, GRINDING!! In this industry if you want to be successful there are no holidays... Tell us about life in the industry, do you enjoy the popularity? Yes very much so, but not from the stand point of being popular to be popular. I like the appreciation of my art. There is nothing more satisfying as an artist then to have a random person come to you and tell you they love your music. If you are serious bout your craft and work hard to perfect it, the attention that comes with is almost like a compensation. We know you recently started directing/ filming music videos. What propelled you in that direction? I think I have always had that vision.. I have always thought movie directing and music producing is the same roll but in different field. Though our area is expanding, there are still a lot of limitations and I am someone who cares heavily about my product, so if I can't get the quality I want from someone else I will find a way to do it myself. There are a lot of people I think will be impressed with what I will be putting together, for never had shot a video in my life! Shout to Beast for partnering with me in this endeavour. Out of your many titles, which do you enjoy the most? I would say "Mr. Hit Record". I Think it best describes my all around versatility to come up with the final out come which is my friends A HIT! It does not matter if I am the artist, engineer, producer or all of the above for the record the final out come I am searching for is the hit factor.. What's the secret formula to balance it all? Life, career, family? Lol, I haven't quite figured that one out yet. I have a tunnel vision that sometimes I can only see one priority at time but I am working on that.

I am currently indie, I have some different deals on the table but right now weighing out my options. My ideal situation would be to start an indie label, with major distribution. What aspect of this life do you enjoy the most? The feeling when you are in the studio and you feel that hit, that's powerful.. when does the new mixtape/single drop and where can we find you online? My answer to that is, The Hands Up Music project COMING SOON ;) Hit me up on your social network sites: psychojoemusic..

About J Dubbie…...

Featured May 2010

8 Mixtapes deep, J. Dubbie is no stranger to the rap game. He recorded his first record at 11 years old and from that point on performed at many Southwest Florida venues. It has been an endless grind since then. He spent many sleepless nights in the studio on his mixtape “Tax Free Money”. After the release of that mixtape, Dubbie joined the roster at Slip N Slide Records home to acts such as Trina, Rick Ross, and Trick Daddy. After that, came ““Tha Streets Aint For Everybody” with special appearances by Brisco, Lil Boosie and Haitian Fresh. He then dropped “7-11 on the come up “ followed by “First 48” What separates you from these other rap artists out there? My music. And what separates the music that I make

Pimp The Game By @McKlezie Thru out my years in the music industry, I have come across several types of individuals. You can always count on one or two or more people to try and take advantage of your eagerness to be in the music industry. In addition to this, there will always be a strong presence of no talented ass artist that seem to get all the breaks that should be awarded to you. Yes people, this thing called the music industry is a uncaring bitch, but at the same time, you can't help but love that hoe. And no matter how unfaithful she is, you want to make sure things workout with her. I know this to be true, because I am always being asked question about how to win her over at the most awkward times. Whether it be when I'm drunk as fuck in VIP or at the hotel, when I'm about to smash two groupies, the question continue to come and because of the love I have for my fellow artist I try to answer to the best of my abilities. However, now that I am sober I have decided to take this opportunity to do what most with the knowledge would never do; Give you the keys to success. Now that I got you attention, lets answer a question that is asked to me on frequent occasions. Which is better getting signed or remaining independent?

The answer is a lot more simple than people would have you believe, but at the end of the day it comes down to what are you built for and what are you willing to settle with. Confused? Let me clarify. Lets say you are a CEO/Artist that has some source of income or backing to help you reach the masses. (Keep in mind that although money is abundant, it still comes down to the music being hot). Now if you picked a record that is apparently the "one" to you and your staff. crew, homies, goons, etc., you start to work it. Now this is where all the questions come in at..If you have the funding to take it to the strip club, the clubs, to have someone on the Internet that can help spread and target the right audience for the song. To have the visuals needed to peak peoples interest, such as flyer's, posters, eblast, websites. Then truthfully you are running as a label. Yes there are a lot more variables than that, but this is the basics. When you can continue to do this at a consistent level, and you are making a noise in your respect areas, some major label will 34

“Which is better getting signed or remaining independent?

come to you.. They may offer you a deal, they may just be letting you know that they are paying attention. Whatever the reason, decisions have to be made.. It is at this point that you have to decide whether you want to continue to operate as an independent or prepare to get a deal and let a major label take over. Here's were I put my 2 cents in. If you feel like you can't take the artist or project to the levels where it needs to go, due to funding or contacts, then I would consider getting signed. The deal may be a bad one. But if you feel that artist if an unbelievable find, such as a Justin Beiber or Beyonce, then the exposure that the major label brings to the table may offset the major deal being a bad one.

But keep in mind that you lose a lot on these deals, control being one of the major things you give up. You put life into something from the beginning and now are giving it away to have someone else raise it to their liking. It is a hard pill to swallow, but this is what you are doing when you sign a major deal. Now let's consider the other option. Lets say, you have managed to create a buzz and the majors are beating down your door. If you have the resources and team at your exposure, I say stay independent. This does not mean you have to stay independent, but it opens your options. Lets face it.. If you can generate your own radio and video spins. (How to do this will discussed in another topic). Maintain Internet sells thru iTunes and like sites, you are well on your way to controlling your destiny.

But this is very important, if you do not have the knowledge once you get to this point, hire someone that does. I seen a lot of "Niggas" fucked up deals or projects because they refuse to put the people with know how in the right places. Majors love dealing with street labels, but hate dealing with street niggas. The reason I say this, is because if you are operating like a independent and want to continue to run successfully as one, then you are in a sense competition to a major. You should have what they have to a smaller degree. A college radio staff, a major radio staff, street team, Internet and viral campaign team, publicist, club promotions, A&Rs to ensure that music is still being created at a high level. The list goes on and on.

If you can do this, then remaining independent yields a far better return. Oh yeah, there is a kicker to staying independent. If you can maintain your business, the label are always willing to deal with business minded people that can prove that they can do business. So when you are making money even though its a lower level than the labels, they may come back to you with a joint venture deal, which can take the artist/project to a larger audience, while at the same time keeping you in control, so in a sense, the best of both worlds. I hope that this has answered a lot of questions. You can follow me on twitter @mcklezie and Leave any other question to be discussed in my next article.

Why Compatibility MATTERS! 

By Paige Diamond Many of us don’t give any thought to how important compatibility is when starting friend-ships, building relationships, and starting a family. We kinda take things on a as is basis - I like you. You like me. Cool! When we get down to the nitty gritty of the matter compatibility is far more than just that. Compatibility is defined by a feeling of sympathetic understanding and the capability of living/existing together in harmony. Many of us aren’t living in harmony with the ones we love or shall I say LUST for obvious reasons. You both are oil and water. Its nothing to be ashamed of, the trill of the chance and/or capture gets us all, but at what point do you not get caught up in it? Common areas of incompatibility are mix match religious/ spiritual outlook, trying to play doctor and heal a broken heart, being with someone just b/c they are majorly different than what you would normally go for, age gaps and rebellion. What should you look for? I thought you would ask. Here are some areas of compatibility you should consider. Spiritual Compatibility  Do they believe in God or a higher power?  Which holidays are celebrated  Religious affiliation  How your spiritual faith(s) are exercised or if they aren’t? Sexual Compatibility  Sexual identity and security  Do you have chemistry and a healthy physical attraction

Views on sexuality (outside and within a relationship)  Ideas on romance, intimacy and closeness  Gender roles in the relationship Social Compatibility  How do you socialize?  Are you an extrovert? Introvert? What is your partner?  Family ties and upbringing  Communication style  Intellectual compatibility Financial Compatibility  Generous vs penny-pinching  How well they handle their finances?  Similar financial goals  How will the finances be spent? (on dates, trips, living together etc.) Health & Nutrition Compatibility  Eating/diet habits  Exercise vs. Couch potato The adage “opposites attract” may make for some wild sex and lustful energy but it is not the recipe for a long lasting relationship. The more a couple has in common with each other, the better are the chances of them building something that is long term. Relationship compatibility is something that is often overlooked and rarely discussed. It is in essence the glue that holds a relationship together when you get on each other’s nerves and want to kick each other to sleep! The lack of it is a fast way to break up due to annoyance and boredom settling in. After you sex each other’s brains out then what? I am not saying your mate has to be 100% compatible to you or even be your twin 37

personality but when you are compatible it makes a world of a difference. When compatible, you will enjoy being around your mate and it’s a hell of a lot easier to communicate. When opposites attract it is because they both are intrigued by each other’s differences and can appreciate them. Those couples are more than likely view their diversity of style, character, wit and swagger as a way to balance themselves out and compliment the very things they aren’t as strong with. Differences are to be appreciated but everyone has deal breakers. The question is how do you deal with deal breakers when they are packaged right with a shiny bow on it? So you sweep them under the rug or do you throw up the deuces and leave? Hmm one to grow on huh?
