Getting Fresh with R&B singer Sean Fresh: What are your goals as an artist? Right now my goal is

simply to be heard.

There are so many stories to be told from every artist, I just want mines to be heard and of course accepted. What is the main single you are pushing and meaning behind it? I'm pushing a single called "School Me". I wrote this song when I moved into my apartment. I didn't have a bed or really any furniture. All I had was some sheets and a cd player with a CD of instrumentals from my producer. I fell asleep while listening to it over and over and around 4 am in the morning I woke up and started writing. I had the melody and I knew this was going to the song that everyone made love to. A song that allows a man to take the backseat and simple allows his mate to school him. What projects are you working on and what will they do for your career? Right now I am working to finish my mixtape By Lola Sims

What other projects are you working on right now? Right now I have a single called, “Got Bread” and it

s a new artist hailing from Springfield, TN, West tures Yo Gotti and Starlito. Were expecting a nice run is definitely putting in the hard work to get with it. I’m also working on a mixtape and a group pro-

noticed. With the success of his first single “Hustleman” ject called Trash Bag Gang. Starlito (who is Yo Gotti artist) ft. Young Buck having made quite a bit of noise for him, form it with 3 other hot artists from Nashville but I’m the even though it was halted by 50 cents ties on Buck, he’s only one that is not actually from there. still motivated by his own blue print to life. Always one to stay in a lane of his own, he is the CEO and first artist to be released from his label, Facin 20 Entertainment. Currently preparing to work his new single “Got Bread” ft. Yo Gotti and Starlito, is expected to do numbers. With plans in site that include group collaborations, mixtape releases, and a number of other opportunities, he’s worth taking the time to get to know. A year or so ago you had a hot single with Young Buck, called “Hustle Man”. What have you been doing since then? Grinding. That song had crazy momentum behind it since it came out at the same time him and 50 cent were beefing. It had all types of people calling but I couldn’t really move like I wanted to with it because 50 had a freeze on Buck. So I have been working hard and making the necessary moves to keep my name in the streets and busy. What artists inspire you? Artist like UGK, Scarface, BG, and Beanie Segal inspires me. I like artist that paint pictures with their words that you can actually see. That way you know they are people dealing with the same things as you. Remember Scarface verse on This Cant Be Life with Jay and Beans, That made me go home and put my life in a notepad. Who are some artists that you have worked with?

I’ve worked with: Bun B, Killer Mike, Ray Cash, Project your movement? Pat, Young Buck, Yo Gotti, and Shannon Sanders to name Follow me on twitter @westthehustleman Check out a few. Pretty Ricky Bluestar Nation, It’s a Movement Article written by Kiara “Sweetie” Babb

Bow Wow and Various artists on Scream Tour IV. In 2007 the group released their sophomore album titled

ith Chart topping singles such as “Grind on Me” (2005), “Your Body” (2005), and “On the Hotline” (2006), one of the most popular male groups is back and going stronger than ever. Platinum selling artists Baby Blue, Slick’ Em, Spectacular, and Pleasure P formed the group Pretty Ricky in 1997. With their father, Joseph Blue Smith, as their manager and CEO of his own record label, they were signed to Bluestar Entertainment International. “Flossin”, which became a major hit on Miami’s

“Late Night Special”. Once again they were a success and the album sold more than 132,000 copies the first week it was released. For five weeks straight their album held the number 1 spot. That album was certified as Gold. When Pleasure P decided to leave the group to pursue a solo career, he was replaced with an artist by the name of 4Play. “Eighties Baby” was released in 2008 and so was the new member of the group who was then replaced by the group member known today as Lingerie.

radio station Power 96, gained them their first initial glow of the limelight and from that stars were not born, but finally recognized. With a mind blowing stage presence, Pretty Ricky quickly established a fan base that quickly spread throughout South Florida. Although they were well known in the Miami-Dade area from receiving heavy play on the radio station WPOW Power 96, with the number one most requested song in the radio station’s history, “Grind On Me”, Pretty Ricky gained international publicity after they got signed to Atlantic Records in 2004. In 2005 they released their first debut album “Bluestars”, which was released May 24th, 2005. Within the first week the record sold over 56,000 copies and debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It didn't end there; their album became platinum selling over 1 million copies worldwide. Not only were they featured on BET’s 106 & Park but they also performed with Omarion, Chris Brown,

The self-titled mixtape “Pretty Ricky” was independently recorded and released in 2010 and sold over 100,000 copies. Since then, they have released singles such as “Cookie Cutter”, “Rollin with a Star”, and “Topless”. The Same energy that they give off when performing is the same energy exerted into staying on their grind. The much anticipated album “Bluestars 2” is set to be released some time this year.

Q & A

>> Its almost 2011 we're glad to see Pretty Ricky hit the scene once again. What has Pretty Ricky been up to since their last album? Working on a new album called Bluestars 2, marketing and promoting it, pushing a new single at radio called "Cookie Cutter", writing, producing and performing on records for artists including Snoop Dogg, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Trick Daddy, New Boyz, Keke Wyatt, Htown, Jodeci and more! Also been working on a reality show about the lives of the different members of Pretty Ricky. >> Just saw your new video for the first time on 106 and Park, Cookie Cutter and this song seems to be alot different then the average Pretty Ricky music, what gave you all the courage and inspiration to venture out and do new music? Courage was not needed. We are musicians so we like to express ourselves through music. We wanted to make a song, females of all ages and ethnic backgrounds can relate to. Music has no

barriers. We are an international brand and decided that this song best caters to our international demo. The album will contain records that our U.S. Fans are accustomed to. >> For the fans that may not know, can you tell us what the song Cookie Cutter stand for? And what a Cookie Cutter is? Being "Cookie Cutter" suggest that one is not "Original" hence a duplicate. When we say, "She's not a cookie cutter" we are saying she's not scared to be different. she's original. SHE'S SPECIAL! One of a kind! ONE IN A MILLION! >> Pretty Ricky seems really open with their fans, but are there any times when you guys feel like Enough is Enough and wish to keep your personal like private? When we signed up for this job, we knew what it entailed. >> How do you deal with rumors and false stories that come up about you guys to the public? Don't stress them. We cant control what the media puts out there and what the public decides to believe. >> We're all looking forward to see what Pretty Ricky brings to the music game in the new year. Do any of you have any new year's resolutions and goals for 2011? We all plan to be better men on every level. >> Being that you guys have been in the music game for a minute, what would you say is Missing in music nowadays? (if anything?) Over the years music has been through many changes. I don't feel there is anything missing. >> If Pretty Ricky could collab with any other artist or producer they choose, who would you guys pick and why? >> We love everyone and feel that every producer and artist is gifted. We would work with anyone!

Comedian Magnum Jackson ‌..Almost Famous. By Alvita Hill

Do you love making people laugh? Yeah in -a sense..its more so uplifting for me. I NEED them to laugh @ me! Do you go to a show with a set of jokes or kind of carry some with you and feed off the crowd and pick them as you go? Well when I first started I had a list..but as I gain more experience I'm able to pick & choose where I wanna take my set & different topics. What types of venues have you been doing lately? Smaller ones during the week (bars/clubs) & comedy clubs & theatres on the weekends. What venues do you prefer, small clubs or the theatres? It's weird its more intimate doing clubs ..but in theatres the feeling is amazing..when they laugh it carries through the whole building. So 300 laughing sound like 3,000. Have you ever had a freeze moment...or a heckler you couldn't ignore? Yes, earlier in my career I had a few trying to master my new material. Hecklers are Evil, they throw some people off, I usually ignore them the 1st few times but after awhile I unload on them. I have about 5 or 6 lines for hecklers. Most shut up after 1 or 2. After that they get escorted out the Venue!

Not "Thrown Out"..lol..Do you look to any particular comedians for guidance or that influenced your work. If so why them and how have they influenced you? Holy S--t! Lol Ummmmm yeah! Louis Ck, Lewis Black, Greg Giraldo, Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, and Chris Rock....Soooo many lol. They are so distinct, that someone else couldn't do their material. Their On-Stage personas are Unique.

What got you into the comedy field?

And why is that? ...what and who continues to drive you

Not really 1 event. When I was in elementary school, kids to do better and pursue the comedy? would ask me 2 bullshit with the teacher all day so we

Just the word "More"..it's so much more I have to learn,

wouldn't have to do work. We would just laugh all day.

so many more place I can perform, so many more venues

We had a talent show I was in like the 3rd grade a friend

I can travel. The optimism of the profession is what drives

of mine got in front of the whole school & told jokes. I'm me. like holy s--t he crazy! But he was funny. Then like my teacher died & students were making jokes & but I was sad. Then we got a new teacher and they STILL wanted me to tell jokes ALL class-lol. They didn't give a s--t about me or the teachers lol. They just wanted jokes. I don't think you pick comedy...it truly picks you. What is the ultimate Venue and why? Ummm prolly Vegas @ The Palm...it's like the Mecca for Comedy. A lot of amazing comedians have done The Palms. Is there anything about comedy that you Do Not like? It's a constant grind...very draining. You just can't be funny, you have to do marketing , promotions, a writer, a travel agent..lol...everything. So you wear a many hats when it comes to your career...What is the Ultimate Goal for it? Yes, but I have adapted pretty well but everyday is a learning experience...Ultimate Goal? Just get to Comedy Central & to work every weekend. So a working weekend would be a dream career for you? Yuppers I love hotels & airports #Weird! Yeah #weird...Is there any international venues you would love to headline?

Through it all... what bit of advice can you give wanting to get into comedy?

Write, everyday... Don't do it for the big "payoff" cuz it will never come, Do it because you tuly like it. It takes a ton of sacrifice... but its a special thing

Japan, I actually have fans there and know a few comedians that have done work overseas, they loved it!
