Whitney Houston’s Autopsy Recently in the news, a beloved Icon in American Music passed away; Whitney Elisebeth Houston. On February 11, 2013, Whitney was found dead in a hotel bathroom at age 48 in White Plains, NY. When the investigators first arrived, their initial run through led to the idea that she died from an overdose on narcotics, prescription medicines, over the counter medications, and alcohol. When the autopsy was performed, they found many traces of substances in her body. There was cocaine, marijuana, and many prescription medications. Her actual cause of death, however, was drowning. This was not to be confused with a suicide because the drowning was deemed accidental. But what led Miss Houston to drown “accidentally”? Well, her overdose of drugs was a big factor. She also had heart disease, and the cocaine in her system made that act out. A quote straight from the autopsy explains this well: “Dated March 29, the report concluded that Houston's death was “due to drowning due to effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use. No foul play is suspected. The mode of death is accident.” A rape kit was also taken at the time of the crime, but the autopsy said that this was not needed to determine her cause of death. She was an amazing person and will be missed.
