Political Party Policies that might be positive for forests LABOR - response to AFCA: Labor will reinstate the prohibition on burning native forests/vegetation for electricity (15/3/2019), has published a recommitment to establish Great Koala National Park in northern NSW AFCA Note: NSW Labor were asked by National Parks Association NSW if they would end native forest logging in public forests within 3 years and answered ‘NO”. This can be seen on NPA NSW website, now. Generally Labor are regarded as better for the environment OVERALL than the COALition, and in some districts it could be important to vote Labor to ensure the removal of the COALition, but it is the case that NSW state Labor does not oppose native forest logging and that Labor policy has been, consistently, to renew the Regional Forest Agreements that legitimise native forest logging for at least another 20 years. Bear in mind, it could be strategic in your district to vote Labor after consideration of all factors, i.e. the margins between the COALition and Labor and the likelihood of an alternative forest friendly candidate ‘getting up’ or not.
