Good afternoon and welcome to Station Park for our Scottish Building Society Scottish Women’s Premier League One meeting with Celtic. Over the course of the season, matches against Celtic have been tight affairs but unfortunately for us, we have always ended up on the wrong side of these results and that is something that everyone wants to put right today. As well as wanting to get a positive result, today represents a real opportunity for us to make a statement in our pursuit of third place in the league, which would be a great achievement for us on our return to the top flight. Despite us seeing this as an opportunity, we are under no illusions of how tough a game this will be. Celtic have been extremely well organised throughout the season, have some really talented players, and as a result they have picked up a number of impressive results throughout this campaign. We come into this game off the back of a 20 defeat at the hands of Hibernian and despite the disappointment of the result, I think everyone can be encouraged by the performance that was put in against arguably the country’s top side. Last time out also saw the first ever live SBSSWPL match on BBC Alba as well as a record crowd, which is something everyone at the club is extremely proud of. Everyone is looking to build upon the performance Hibernian and we are all excited to be back in action after our enforced break due to the Scottish Cup. As ever thanks for your support as it really is appreciated by the players and staff & I hope you enjoy the game. Nathan

Despite some thinking a clash with Scotland’s game would keep fans away, a new club record attendance of 352 watched as two late Hibernian goals gave them all three points on a historic evening at Station Park. The first clear cut chance came in the 13th minute when Smith chipped a through ball towards goal; McGinley nipped past the defence and lobbed Fife but the ball bounced away from goal and wide. On the half hour mark Robertson almost put Hibs ahead with a freak goal as her corner swung in before clipping the top of the crossbar. Harrison fired over from distance but the best chance of the half fell to Farmington striker Heron when her effort beat Fife but found the sidenetting. Farmington were defending well despite increased pressure from the visitors and the final chance fell to Hibs’ Hunter; a free kick played her way allowed her to strike a 25 yard effort into the arms of McNicoll. Hibs came out from the break keen to get that vital goal and half time sub Rachel McLauchlan rounded McNicoll a minute after the restart but lost her footing and missed the open goal. Napier and Reilly failed to find the target for Hibs but at the other end Heron sent a 50 yard strike towards goal only to see the ball land over the bar. McCarthy saw a header held from a Smith corner and shortly after Brough saw her shot blocked as a throw in caused problems in the Hibs box. Harrison was getting closer to goal as she dragged her shot past the post but she made the breakthrough for Hibs with thirteen minutes left. A through ball saw the attacker race clear & despite McNicoll saving the first effort the rebound hit her & she stroked the ball into the net. Farmington kept the hunt for an equaliser up but it was to be in vain in injury time as Robertson’s cross wasn’t cleared and sub Davidson bundled the ball home. Despite the defeat, Farmington can be happy with their performance in front of a record crowd in the first ever televised SBSSWPL fixture.
