Good afternoon and welcome to Station Park where we welcome Glasgow City in the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup second round. It was a pleasure having the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup at Market Muir & Station Park on Thursday with the younger Farmington players having a chance to see the trophy, take photos and have a Q&A with myself, Kayleigh Brough, Alison Debio & Lotte Deubel.
We’ve had a good week at training, we have prepared well and we know what we have to do to get the job done. We know it will be a difficult game but we are prepared and ready to compete. We hope you enjoy this afternoon’s game and thank you for your support.

Welcome to Station Park for this afternoon’s SSE Scottish Women’s Cup second round tie against Glasgow City. In an ideal world, we would not have faced City this early in the tournament, but that is the hand we have been dealt and a challenge that the players, staff & myself are very much up for. The preparation this week has been positive, so I expect us to put in a good performance today and see where that leads us. We have been on a good run of form in recent weeks, which has helped everyone come into the game full of confidence. The league game against City earlier this season was a competitive game which we had our fair share of good and bad luck in. We narrowly lost out by one goal to nil and had an opportunity to level the game late on, which we should have probably taken and the performance gives us real belief for today. Thanks for all your support and we hope you enjoy today’s game.

Forfar Farmington continued their good run of form with a tight 2-1 win over Hamilton Academical in the SBSSWPL1. Accies had the first chance of the game four minutes in when Katie Rice’s tame effort was held by Fiona McNicoll. Four minutes later Robyn Smith fired wide after being put through by Danni McGinley before Caroline Heron saw a header cleared from a Smith corner. Farmington came storming out of the blocks after half time and took the lead less than sixty seconds after the restart. Cassie Cowper played the ball towards the box and despite the Hamilton defence having three players surrounding the ball, they failed to deal with it and Smith nipped in to lob Grant for her fourth goal of the season.
From the corner Forfar failed to threaten and from the counter attack Hamilton equalised in controversial circumstances. The ball fell outside the box and Cheryl Kilcoyne attempted to reach it along with a Hamilton player, the Farmington midfielder looked like she was fouled as she was sent spinning in the air. The referee allowed play to go on despite Kilcoyne being in some distress and the visitors took advantage with Rice finding the back of the net. The scores were level for just ten minutes as Farmington were awarded a free kick in the 68th minute; Davidson lofted the set piece into the box and McCarthy headed past Grant for her first goal of the season. The final twenty minutes of the game were end to end as both sides looked for a vital goal, Hamilton came closest deep into injury time when Amy Bulloch rattled the crossbar before the loose ball was cleared. Hamilton could, and maybe should, have had a penalty late on as Rice’s free kick looked like it hit the hand of McCarthy but the referee waved away claims. The resulting corner found the head of Kirsty Fraser, but she couldn’t find the target in the final chance of the game.
Recent signing Megan Robb is delighted with the start she has made to life at Forfar Farmington and hopes she can keep developing. The 18 year old attacker netted on her debut against Stirling University before scoring again against the same opposition to make it two goals in her first five games. Former Dundee United player Robb feels she has fit in perfectly with the rest of the squad in her first month at the club. “I feel I have fitted in perfectly and couldn’t of asked for a better bunch of girls to accept me into their team.”
With two goals already, Robb reckons it has shown how well she has adapted to life in the top flight and believes there is more to come. “I am very happy to be playing in a Forfar shirt and I feel scoring twice is just a taster of how I am already developing in this league.” Farmington have won five games in their last six ahead of this week’s meetings with Glasgow City, Hibernian and City again. The teenager is adamant the side will be in the correct mindset as they head into the tough fixtures. “I feel of course there is going to be nerves going into the games but there is a lot of preparation in and out of training from all the girls, and we are all in the correct mindset to go into the games and fight for the wins.”

The SSE Scottish Women's Cup Trophy Tour was kicked off on Thursday at Market Muir and Station Park. Players of the club and parents were given the opportunity to see the trophy at Market Muir, with the U13 Chiefs' training focused on as part of a forthcoming feature on social media. The training was taken by their regular coach, captain Nicola Davidson, alongside fellow SBSSWPL players Kayleigh Brough and Lotte Deubel. Midfielder Alison Debio joined them at Market Muir after training as the quartet were grilled by kids and one or two parents in the clubhouse as part of a Q&A session. The trophy then made its way over to Station Park for a media session, with Alison, Nicola and head coach Mark Nisbet taking part in interviews ahead of Sunday’s SSE Scottish Women’s Cup second round tie against Glasgow City. We would like to thank SSE, Scottish Women's Football, Sportsbeat and Material for visiting the club with the trophy before Sunday’s 'Game of the Round'.
