Good afternoon and welcome to Station Park for the our Scottish Building Society Scottish Women’s Premier League One meeting with Glasgow City. This will be the second time in seven days we have hosted our visitors after playing them in last Sunday’s Scottish Cup fixture. It’s always good to play against one of the best teams and that is exactly how we feel about today’s fixture. During the week we have had a midweek game against Hibernian which was a really tough game for us. I felt as though we worked hard and competed well for large parts of the game but the knocks & niggles we have picked up in recent weeks took its toll on the squad and our opponents ran out comfortable winners in the end. Looking again at the present day, if someone had said to me at the start of the league campaign that going into the last game before the mid season break we would be in fourth place I would have grabbed that with both hands. We realise it’s only half the job done but it gives us a really good platform to build from for the second half of the season & we are determined to do that. As ever thanks for your support as it really is appreciated by the players and staff & I hope you enjoy today’s game.

Forfar Farmington exited the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup at the second round after a 3-0 defeat at home to Glasgow City on Sunday. The visitors had chances early on with Kirsty Howat hitting the bar before Abbi Grant curled over after driving at the Farmington defence. City took the lead in the 27th minute; Leanne Ross’ free kick finding the back of the net despite McNicoll getting a hand to it. The lead was doubled ten minutes later with Ross sending another free kick into the box and Abbi Grant rose highest to send a header past McNicoll. The final chance of the half fell to Farmington, however Nicola Davidson could only find the side netting with her free kick. City killed the game off four minutes after the restart; a low cross found Sam Kerr and she fired into the back of the net via a slight deflection off her own teammate. Farmington started to create a couple of chances after this with Alana Bruce finding Caroline Heron, although the attacker could only fire over the bar. In the 64th minute Robyn Smith played a quick corner and after receiving the ball again, she fired a cross into the box; sub Beth McPherson’s header was parried by a desperate Lee Alexander and the keeper did well to deny the follow up by Heron. Shortly after this Grant hit the bar as she looked for her second and City’s fourth against her former side. The game quietened down in the last twenty minutes as substitutions interrupted the flow, however there were late chances for both sides; Crichton seeing her header expertly tipped over by McNicoll before McPherson had another header cleared.
Forfar Farmington’s recent winning run in the SBSSWPL1 came to an end on Wednesday evening as title contenders Hibernian netted six without reply. Farmington could have taken the lead just nine seconds in when Danni McGinley set up Caroline Heron, however the striker’s effort was held by Jenna Fife. Hibs’ first chance fell to Kirsty Smith but she could only curl into Fiona McNicoll’s arms before Lizzie Arnot had a shot blocked shortly after. The hosts took the lead after 20 minutes; Forfar looked to be creating an opportunity before the Hibs defence cleared and started a counter attack, ending in Rachel McLauchlan firing past McNicoll.
McNicoll parried a Harrison effort but it wasn’t long before the lead was doubled as Lisa Robertson’s cross found the unmarked Kirsten Reilly and she was more than happy to head home. Heron came close for Farmington again as the game edged closer to half time; firing over after a cut back by winger Robyn Smith. Ten minutes into the second half a Reilly cross into the danger zone found Arnot who stroked the ball past the keeper. A seven minute spell saw Hibs add a further three goals to their tally; the first came in the 71st minute when Harrison found the bottom corner of the net from close range. Three minutes later Kirsty Smith made her way into the box before cutting the ball back for sub Jamie-Lee Napier to bundle into the back of the net. The scoring was completed with twelve minutes remaining with Harrison grabbing her second following a run through the defence, completing a solo effort.
Goalkeeper | Fiona McNicoll I can’t remember another keeper playing with Forfar during my time with them, so I’ve just picked myself. My language has gotten better over the years but still speak about rubbish.
the national squad. She is a great leader on & off the pitch.
Right Winger | Emily Phillips It’s not Bend It Like Beckham, it is 'Bend It Like Phillips'. Great at taking free kicks and an excellent crosser of the ball.
Striker | Caroline Heron Hits the ball as hard as she possibly can ever time, is in the chocolate club most weeks, however it is great to see her back in a Farmington shirt this year.
Left Centre Midfielder | Sam Milne Right Centre Back | Clare Cooper Sam enjoyed a tackStarted off as my coach and was lucky enough to le, had good passing play alongside her. Like Avril she like to moan and shielding ability, sometimes. also like to make sure her make up is right Centre Back | Gemma Collier before games. I also enjoyed playing with Gemma, she was always happy to take the ball off me, good at Left Winger | organising the team however when she wanted Alana Bruce to tell you something, you really wish you had a Alana will run all day seat as it could take up to 10 minutes (very hard for you, the fittest during a game). person I have ever met however doesn't really like heading the ball. She’s great with new team Left Centre Back | Avril Stewart members. The biggest moaner I have ever met however hard as nails & when going up for a corner she Right Striker | Leanne Bailey used to make the longest runs ever but it seemed Leanne was a great striker, she was skilful and to work as she scored a few headers off it, not didn’t mind taking a hit for the team when rebad for the smallest player on the pitch usually. quired.
Right Centre Midfielder| Kevin De Bruyne She is the best centre midfielder I have ever Left Striker | Caren Webster played with. Excellent passing ability and vision. It Caren is another super quick player too and loves is hard to believe she has never been capped by a wee dive every now and then.
