Good afternoon and welcome to Station Park for today’s match against Hamilton Academical. It is good to be back at home after seven consecutive away games. We come into this game after bouncing back from our defeat last weekend against Celtic, overcoming Stirling University on Wednesday night where the players put in a fine display to secure the 3-0 victory which further solidifies our position in 4th place. Over the course of the 7 games away from home we have enjoyed some excellent results, claiming impressive wins against Rangers, Stirling University, Spartans, and again against Stirling University, with narrow defeats at the hands of Glasgow City and Celtic. These results have shown the quality and desire the players possess in order to compete week in and week out against some of the top sides in the country. The squad has really come together over the past couple of months with everyone stepping up and playing their part in the successes we have enjoyed. We opened our campaign against Hamilton earlier in the year and got ourselves off to the perfect start by winning the hard fought game 1-0. Hamilton are well drilled, well organised, and have threats from various areas of the pitch, so I fully expect another challenging and highly competitive game this weekend! I hope you enjoy the game! Nathan
Goals in either half by Alana Marshall and Kaela McDonald-Nguah sealed all three points for the Edinburgh side at a sunny Station Park. It was a slow start to the game with only one chance coming in the first twenty minutes as McDonald-Nguah headed wide for the visitors from a Marshall corner. Farmington’s first chance came after 24 minutes; Davidson sending a ball towards McGinley and she combined with Smith and Stewart before McGinley sent her effort wide of the mark. Brough saw her header held shortly after before Simone McMahon sliced wide at the other end.
Spartans took the lead seven minutes before the break through a fantastic strike by Marshall from 25 yards, giving McNicoll no chance. Spartans looked to add to their advantage and came close in the 51 st minute when McMahon’s cross was deflected into the path of Santoyo-Brown but her shot was pushed round the post by McNicoll. After the hour mark Farmington had their own chances; Smith volleying wide before McGinley stabbed wide from a Stewart cross. The lead was doubled in the 69th minute through McDonald-Nguah as she nodded home a McMahon free kick at the front post. This took the sting out of the game and despite Farmington improving, they could only create one clear cut chance as Deans fired wide with four minutes remaining.
Forfar Farmington came so close to a late equaliser after a determined performance against Glasgow City. After shutting them out for over 70 minutes, Christie Murray’s slice of luck gave City all three points. City came close in the opening sixty seconds as Howat found the side netting with a fierce effort. Ross almost broke the deadlock after 22 minutes with a fantastic free kick but McNicoll tipped the set piece over the bar. Two minutes later Ross hit the crossbar with another free kick, the rebound fell to Howat and she could only blaze her effort wildly over the bar. The ball was in the net at the other end shortly after when Bruce lobbed Alexander, the referee pulling play back for offside. Bruce was involved with another Farmington attack in the 32nd minute as she set up Nicola Davidson, the captain’s long range strike held by Alexander. McNicoll pulled off another fantastic save on the hour mark with City hitting the bar shortly after for the second time. The deadlock was broken with 18 minutes left; a ball towards the box resulted in McNicoll and Brough hesitating and when McNicoll attempted to clear her lines it hit Christie Murray and rolled into the empty net. In the dying stages of the game Davidson sent a cross into the box and after McGinley outmuscled a defender she slipped the ball past Clachers only to see it hit the base of the post; City cleared the ball as far as Smith, her low cross found Heron but she could only turn the ball agonisingly wide.
Celtic took the lead after just three minutes when a cross into the box wasn’t cleared and the loose ball made its way to Pullar who tapped into the net from almost on the line. Farmington came close to an equaliser five minutes later as McCarthy rose to meet a Smith but her header hit the post. Donaldson lashed an effort across the face of goal on the quarter hour mark before Heron sent a long range effort wide shortly after. Brough saw a header held by Gibson five minutes before half time but two minutes later Farmington were level. Cavanagh blocked a Heron cross with her hand and referee Daniel Graves pointed to the spot. McGinley stepped up but saw her effort saved by Gibson, Smith’s follow up was parried and Davidson rifled home the loose ball. Celtic restored their lead in the 65th minute when a ball into the box found Ewens, her initial effort was cleared off the line by McCarthy but the ball eventually made its way to Donaldson and she blasted the ball into the roof of the net.
Adams fired over for Celtic but it wasn’t long before they made it three; Rafferty’s cross into the area was nodded home at the back post by McCulloch. This essentially killed the game off but Giard added the cherry on top of the cake for Celtic with five minutes to go, beating McNicoll with a low effort just inside the box.

Robyn Smith and Hannah Stewart had Farmington ahead at half time with Caroline Heron and Cassie Cowper making it 4-0 late on before Jade Gallon and Brogan Hay netted consolations for Rangers. The deadlock was broken in the 18th minute; McNicoll emptied the ball up the park and the Rangers defence failed to head clear, allowing Smith in to slot home under the advancing Baillie. Jade Gallon headed wide from an Muir corner shortly after for the hosts and McGinley was unlucky not to add a second for Farmington in the 24th minute when a ball wasn’t dealt with and she nipped in only for Baillie to push her effort away. Farmington did increase their advantage with ten minutes remaining of the half when Smith turned provider, sending a corner in for Stewart to open her account for the club. Rangers came close to pulling a goal back a minute after the break as McNicoll used her feet to deny Hay & they were made to rue that miss in the 51st minute. McGinley won the ball in the middle of the half before laying it off for Heron, she took a touch before sending an amazing finish beyond Baillie from 35 yards. Bailliewas unable to stop Farmington adding a fourth with a minute remaining; Davidson’s short free kick found Cowper and she turned her marker before sending a low effort into the bottom corner. This wasn’t to be the final action of the game with Rangers finding two quick goals in injury time through Gallon and Hay.
The first shot for Farmington came after eleven minutes through Kilcoyne when she fired over from long range. Two minutes later Smith saw her corner nodded past the post by Heron as the side started to settle into the game. Stewart could have broken the deadlock as a Smith free kick was flicked on by Heron but the winger’s shot was saved by Logan and the keeper was called into action shortly after when she tipped Davidson’s free kick over the bar. Farmington had the best chance of the half eight minutes before the break; Smith saw a shot deflected wide and from the corner Cowper’s volley beat the keeper but was headed off the line, this fell to Davidson and her 25 yard effort hit a defender and flew past the post. A poor pass back saw McGinley race into a one on one situation, her effort was parried by Logan and Smith sent the ball back into the danger zone only for Logan to push Heron’s effort past the post. The deadlock was broken in the 68th minute; Davidson’s free kick was headed down by Heron and McGinley stretched her leg out to divert the header past Logan for her second of the season. Stirling’s first chance of the half came in the 72nd minute when Rule sent her effort past the post before McKay & Galbraith failed to find the target ten minutes later. Debutant Megan Robb made sure of all three points with six minutes remaining; a Farmington attack was cleared only as far as Alana Bruce and she swung a cross into the box for Robb to curl past Logan from just inside the box.
Nicola Davidson and Cheryl Kilcoyne’s first half goals saw Farmington ahead with Danni McGinley adding a third before Kaela McDonald-Nguah’s late consolation. Kilcoyne failed to find the target in the 16th minute while Clelland cut in from the left wing before sending a tame effort into McNicoll’s arms. The deadlock was broken after 32 minutes through some slack clearing by the Spartans defence; Smith’s cross was flicked by Heron, the defence couldn’t clear & captain Davidson was more than happy to rifle home her second of the season. It wasn’t long until the lead was extended and four minutes later Heron received a cross from Smith, she laid it off for Kilcoyne to strike from 20 yards out. Her initial effort hit the bar before it looked like it may have hit the keeper and rolled in. The hosts went closer two minutes after the break when Walkingshaw hit the inside of the post with the ball flying back into play. Farmington started a counter attack and made them pay as McGinley outmuscled two defenders before slipping past a third and stroking the ball into the net. Smith could have made it four shortly after with Harrison doing well to push her shot wide while Heron had a shot of her own deflected wide. Smith was involved again in the 72nd minute as she curled a free kick into the danger zone for McCarthy to send a header against her old friend the post. Spartans sub McDonald-Nguah was their most dangerous outlet in the second half as she hit the side netting before seeing another shot pushed wide by McNicoll. From Douglas’ corner McDonald-Nguah nodded in what was a late consolation with four minutes remaining.
At an extremely hot K-Park the game got off to a tricky start for both sides, with chances few and far between early on. In the sixteenth minute Adams sent a weak effort into the arms of McNicoll, but just three minutes later Farmington were ahead at the other end through captain Davidson. The free kick specialist stepped up 35 yards out and sent her set piece beyond the despairing Gibson for her third goal of the season. Celtic looked to get back into the game and had further chances with Pullar blazing over when one on one before Ross and Ewens failed to trouble McNicoll.
The hosts levelled things up just a minute before the break when Ross curled into the top corner from the edge of the box. Following the break, Celtic looked to take the lead and came close early on as Alana Bruce denied Ross on the line. It wasn’t long however, until they did find the back of the net and it was left back Colette Cavanagh who did so, racing towards goal before striking the ball past McNicoll. Farmington were now the ones looking for an equaliser as Caroline Heron saw her effort blocked just after the hour mark.
In the 82nd minute Cavanagh saw her effort cleared off the line, although in the aftermath Pullar was forced off following lengthy treatment for an injury. Deep into injury time Pullar’s replacement failed to find the target as she met a Keeva Keenan cross but it wasn’t to matter as Celtic took all three points.
A goal in either half by Caroline Heron along with Megan Robb’s second goal since joining moved the side six points clear of the bottom half of the table. The hosts almost got on to a perfect start just 30 seconds in as King’s cross found Reynolds but her effort was easily held by McNicoll. Three minutes later Farmington had their first chance as Harkin set up Heron on the edge of the box; her shot found the arms of Logan. Heron and Kayleigh Brough were denied by Logan but it wasn’t long before the Stirling keeper was beaten. In the 21st minute Bruce sent a fantastic cross from deep and Heron rose highest to head the ball into the back of the net via the post. On the stroke of half time the lead was doubled; Smith’s corner was sent into the box & Stirling failed to clear with McCarthy knocking the ball for Robb to get the decisive touch as the assistant referee judged the ball had crossed the line. It was much the same after the break as Mark Nisbet’s side hunted for a third goal and almost got it through Smith when her corner hit the bar with Logan beaten. It was almost three for Farmington in the 56th minute when Robb rattled the post, however she was ruled offside as she met Kilcoyne’s cross. The attacker then headed wide from a McGinley cross before Smith sent a 30 yard free kick flying over the bar. McGinley and Kilcoyne were close to adding a third but it finally came in the 76th minute when another Bruce cross found Heron and she was more than happy to bury the ball into the back of the net for her second and Farmington’s third.
