Welcome to Station Park for this afternoon’s Scottish Building Society Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 fixture against Spartans It feels like a really long time ago since we last played a competitive match but I’m sure today’s game will be a very competitive affair and close encounter. Our last home match saw us win against Stirling University in the League Cup and I was really happy with how we stuck to the plan, defended solidly and took our chances when they came our way. The group have trained well over the last couple of weeks and look in good shape. We also had the opportunity to play a friendly to keep us ticking over & was a huge benefit coming into today’s game. Thanks for all your support so far this season and I hope you enjoy today’s game. Mark

Forfar Farmington progressed to the semi finals of the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup with a 2-0 win at home to Stirling University. The first half hour of the game was essentially a non event with neither side creating anything of note. The first chance of the game came in the 33rd minute; Cheryl Kilcoyne cutting the ball back for Megan McCarthy however her effort was blocked. Katy Morris failed to trouble Fiona McNicoll with Stirling’s first opportunity while at the other end McGinley and Nicola Davidson all came close. The deadlock was broken seven minutes before the break; Kilcoyne saw a shot pushed wide and from Robyn Smith’s corner Tammy Harkin flicked the ball on with Kayleigh Brough stabbing home from close range. The lead was doubled four minutes later as Smith swung a cross in from deep territory and Cassie Cowper was lingering at the back post to head past Logan. Farmington looked to add to their lead at the start with Smith sending a cross -cum-shot inches over the bar before Kirsty Deans and Cowper came close. Tammy Harkin nodded over from a Smith corner and Stirling’s first chance of the second half came just after the hour mark when sub Beth McKay sent a free kick just past the post. Late on McCarthy sent a header into the side netting from a McGinley throw and Brough could have had a second in added time as she was set up by Cowper but she was crowded out by the Stirling defence. The result caps off a pleasing few months for the club with two semi finals in the League and Scottish Cups to go along with their Scottish Women’s Premier League Two championship.
