The Pagan Origin of the Days of the Week Most people are NOT familiar with how the names of the days of the week actually got their names and what they signify. As believers in God and followers of Christ, we find it necessary to bring this information to ALL people who follow after the ways of the Lord. For too long now we have accepted this so called “reality” that the government pushes on us and called it “freedom”. It is time to wake up and see the wickedness being handed to us on the plate. Paul talks to the people in Galatia about them falling away and turning back to observing days, months, times, and years. Gal 4:9-11 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain. Now if we break apart this set of verses, we will see some interesting things about the reality Paul was telling them about. The first thing Paul mentions is the “turning again to WEAK and BEGGARLY elements.” During the era, paganism and witchcraft were very prevalent all through the land. In these false religions, the people worship the elements of the earth – Air, Fire, Water, & Earth. So it is apparent the Galatians had turned back to their astrology, and earth worship. Then, Paul mentions they were observing days, months, times, and years again. During the time, again, was mass usage of astrology and paganism. All the solstices are watched and prepared for (according to the calendar of today) by pagans to enhance their life in some form or another. When these solstices come around, it is a time a reveling and strengthening for the pagan involved in witchcraft. The Galatians had gone back to their ways of old – away from God! They had turned to the greek gods again! Now, if the believers at Galatia were being corrected in the Spirit of the Lord by Paul about turning back to the weak and beggarly elements and for paying attention to the days, times, months, and years, then why aren’t any of the “Prophets” or “Teachers” of today doing the very same thing? It is because they do NOT want to step on anyone’s toes if it might harm their reputation with the people. Paul said this to the Church at Corinth: 1Co 9:16-17 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. Therefore, The Gospel of Christ tells us to not turn back to the elements; so lets find out what we have been turning back to without the knowledge of doing so. The pagan origin of the names of the days of the week, we will begin with the first day of the week, commonly referred to as Sunday. It is far too obvious to see how the enemy has been lying to us. Satan has deceitfully led us all astray into giving honor to the greek gods of mythology. You are encouraged to copy & distribute the information contained in this study course. Day of Mars (associated with Ares) In Greek mythology, Ares ("battle strife"; in Greek, Άρης) is the Olympian god of war and son of Zeus (king of the gods) and Hera. The Romans identified Mars, the god of war (whom they had inherited from the Etruscans) with Hellenic Ares, but among them, Mars stood in much higher esteem. “Tiw’s” day is derived from Tyr or Tir (god of war) Tyr (Old Norse: Týr) is the god of single combat and heroic glory in Norse mythology, portrayed as a one-handed man. In the late Icelandic Eddas, he is portrayed, alternately, as the son of Odin (Prose Edda) or of Hymir (Poetic Edda), while the origins of his name and his possible relationship to Tuisto (see Tacitus' Germania) suggest he was once considered the father of the gods and head of the pantheon. Corresponding names in other Germanic languages include Tyz (Gothic), Ty (Old Norwegian), Ti (Old Swedish), Tiw, Tiu, Tio, and Tig (Old English) Týr (Modern Icelandic and Faroese), Ziu and Zio (Old High German), and even Teiw in Primitve Germanic, ie. the Negua Helm. Son of Odin, Norse god of war, and Frigga, the earth mother Tuesday was named in his honor

Germanic *Wōdinaz. His name is related to óðr, meaning "excitation," "fury" or "poetry," and his role, like many of the Norse pantheon, is complex: he is god of wisdom, war, battle and death. He is also attested as being a god of magic, poetry, prophecy, victory, and the hunt. Odin is the chief god of Norse Mythology and is often called the “all father”

Derives its name from the Middle English “THORESDAY” or “THURSDAYE”, corresponding to the Roman god Dies Jovis Thor is one of the 12 great gods of Norse Mythology Thursday was sacred to him

FRIDAY th 6 day of the week • •

Derived from Germanic, Frigga (name of the Norse god Odin’s wife) Frigga is considered to be the mother of all, and the goddess who presides over marriage In Norse mythology, Frigg (Eddas) or Frigga (Gesta Danorum) was said 1 to be "foremost among the goddesses," the wife of Odin, queen of the Æsir, and goddess of the sky. One of the Ásynjur, she is a goddess of marriage, motherhood, fertility, love, household management, and domestic arts. Her primary functions in the Norse mythological stories are as wife and mother, but these are not her only functions. She has the 2 power of prophecy although she does not tell what she knows , and is the only one other than Odin who is permitted to sit on his high seat Hlidskjalf and look out over the universe. Corresponding Latin name is Dies Veneris (a day dedicated to Venus, the goddess of love

SATURDAY th 7 day of the week • Corresponds to Roman Dies Saturni (Day of Saturn) • Also represented by Loki, the Norse god of tricks and chaos It is the only day of the week to retain its Roman origin in English, named after the Roman god of time Saturn, calling it dies Saturni, "Saturn's Day". Many of the other days of the week adopted names of Saxon gods in Northern Europe, in Anglo-Saxon. There also exists a possibility that the modern English form derives from Anglo-Saxon "Saeter daegv", as Saeter "Saturn" was regarded as a correlary of Loki by Northern Germanic peoples As you can see, the days of the week ALL represent a god in some form or another and we, as followers of Christ, need not turn ourselves back to the weak and beggarly elements that once held us in bondage. We should not be observing days, months, times, nor years, because we are not suppose to be even worrying about tomorrow, only today. There is even more about the day of Saturn that corresponds to Satan himself, you can find more on that subject in the Truth document, Living in the World, available on the website, www.forgenerations.net/truth.html.

I hope this document has helped you to understand that we are to NOT follow the ways of this world in any form – right down to our calendars. Jesus is returning soon! We need to make sure we can count ourselves worthy to enter in to the Kingdom of God. There are going to be a lot of people say to God, “Lord, Lord”, and they are not going to enter in the Lord’s rest. Inform all of your friends and family if you are afraid for their soul. Thank You. Peace and Grace be multiplied to you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
