About ABOUT US
Formentini Srl is a manufacturer of women’s shoes. Founded in 1950 and based in Marche, Italy, the company has been perfecting the quality, fit, design and manufacture of exquisite and high quality shoes for more than 60 years. Formentini products are currently exported to more than 30 countries. Approximately 7000 pairs of shoes are produced every single working day, over 1 million per year, making the company one of the top 10 shoe producers in Italy. Formentini Srl employs, in the year 2015, around 900 people with about 700 of these based in Italy. In the financial year 2014, the company achieved record consolidated sales of around ₏28 million. A continued positive sales trend is expected for 2015.

tory Formentini Srl was founded by Luigi Formentini in 1950. The very first collection was a line of children’s shoes, which proved an instant success. Since then, Luigi has directed the company with his innate sense of style and his uncanny ability to discover hitherto unfulfilled market demands. Under his guidance, the company has gone from strength to strength. By 1980, with a chain of successes under his belt, Luigi gradually transferred the management of his company to his children. Under his stewardship, a new generation of Formentini artisans embarked on a new phase of women’s fashion footwear. This decision turned out to be a decisive turning point from which the company has built its future successes while at all times retaining total respect of its origins and traditions.
HISTORY
The adherence to the Formentini tradition of taste, quality and fashion sense created a loyal following in Italy as the products were distributed domestically. In 1994, the Formentini collection was distributed internationally for the first time and soon after became widely coveted as a ‘must have’ item in many women’s closets. By 2012, the company became a market leader both in Italy and internationally. Formentini enjoys the support of over 1500 clients from all over the world including Europe, China, Japan, Russia, the United States, the Middle East and Australia. In the year 2000, Formentini consolidated its production facilities into a 6000 square meter, technologically advanced production complex.
COMPANY STRUCTURE Formentini has three wholly owned factories and three additional factories that work exclusively for the company. The company’s headquarters is located in the Marche Region, the most well known area for footwear production in Italy. The company works closely with a number of small local businesses, each highly specialised in carrying out different production phases as well as supplying essential components and raw materials. The company employs expert shoe makers whose
experience of hand work is fundamental to maintain the highest quality standards and guarantees the exclusive style of hand made products. The company employs around 900 people, 200 workers are directly employed by the company in addition to a further 700 sub suppliers. Formentini has a flexible network of specialists in place to ensure that operations can be extended at any moment to accommodate large volume orders and fulfill deadline requirements.

FINANCE Total company turnover for 2014 was ₏28 million, (57% Italy / 43% Export). The company has undergone quite a transition in the last 5 years; in 2010 our ratio was 75% Italy and 25% Export. Such a wholesale change is attributed to the company’s commitment to the foreign market and its flexibility to adapt to ever-changing markets and trends. The shoemaking tradition in our family dates back to 1950. Following the war, my husband’s parents started to manufacture shoes. Even today, a part of our production phase continues to be handmade by our excellent artisans even though we use the latest generation machinery and technology for all parts of the process. The company has decided that it is now the right moment to create a new, exclusive and extremely precious collection. This collection is for a modern cosmopolitan woman who is independent and able to appreciate an item that has all the quality features, harmony and artisanship of the real Italian product. The PERLA FORMENTINI collection has been developed with different options for heel height, from the ballerina to the medium heel for everyday wear, up to the high heel for the executive woman. In the LUXURY line we use top quality materials and exclusive accessories including a distinctive sign which is a pearl placed at the bottom. The Perla Formentini line is the expression of the highest artisanship and Italian excellence.

Formentini has an exemplary compliance history and it can clearly demonstrate it has a fully auditable supply chain.
