DAIFUKU AIRPORT TECHNOLOGIES Virgin Australia Hybrid BagDrop Formworks worked extensively with our client Daifuku BCS, and their customer Virgin Australia developing the BagDrop check-in experience for the new Perth T1 domestic terminal. The requirement from Virgin was a check-in system that could switch seamlessly between the traditional staff assisted to self-service BagDrop check-in configurations. The solution we developed utilised a rotating passenger interface display that when rotated automatically switched the check-in interface from one mode to the other.

EXOSKEL X2 + X3 Urban Climber The idea for the Exoskel™ X3 urban climber was born out of real life challenges faced by a former member of the Elite NZSAS Special Forces team. Exoskel™ was created to assist the user to rapidly ascend urban obstacles. After constantly failing to negotiate obstacles when rushed and weighed down, and after many cuts and damaged lower limbs, Exoskel™ was developed. Its primary use is to provide leverage while ascending obstacles and negotiating uneven terrain. Armed with teeth to lock on to obstacles in any environment, and lift the user, via the stirrup system, up, over, and on… Exoskel™ protects the shin when scrambling over sharp and dangerous terrain and stabilizes the user on uneven ground and in awkward positions.

KEA CAMPERS Karavan Formworks worked alongside KEA Campers to help them design and develop their first caravan, complimenting their fleet of quality New Zealand built motorhomes. Kea’s vision was to produce a European look, light-weight vehicle with NZ durability, standards and warranty back up – all at a competitive cost in today’s marketplace. To achieve a European style on the exterior high-tech vacuum moulded composite panel construction was utilised, and ‘dressed’ with fibreglass front, rear and side mouldings. Three different caravan lengths were created; 5.5m, 6m and 6.5m, all of which with differing interior layouts.

RAVEN Switch Dishbrush After 20+ years of producing the same dishbrush, Raven chose Formworks to partner with to develop a new modern brush design. The design of the Dishbrush was to have a premium feel to stand it apart from the cheaper alternatives on the market, yet retain an environmentally friendly product. By creating an interchangeable head the handle of the brush was able to use more material and reduce the amount of plastic discarded when the bristles are worn down.

ALLEGION Schlage Verta Series - Architectural Hardware Allegion had a vision to develop a designer range of door and window furniture. Formworks were engaged in developing this vision further, influenced by classic designs, modern trends and architectural spaces. Subtle detailing was adopted to define, elevate and modernise the classic square shape. Bevelled edges soften hard lines and create an architectural element by reflecting light in every direction. Straight edges transition to gently rounded backs, curving into your hand and creating a soft touch point. No compromise is made during construction. Solid stainless steel is used throughout, moulded nylon tips are seamlessly melded to vents, radius corners are micro-millimetre perfect and curved edges are polished with watch-maker precision. Verta’s precision engineering, uncompromised design and superior construction is the perfect balance between functionality and beautiful design.

ROTAFORM PLASTICS LTD. Collapsible Crate The idea was to gain a competitive edge in the market by solving many of the existing problems with collapsible crates such as reducing the number of components, simplifying the complexity of latching mechanisms and making the assembly and collapsing of the crate simple and easy. The objective was to design a simple robust crate, which can be collapsed in order to reduce back freighting costs and increase warehouse and truck utilisation. The crate had to be easy to use, easy to clean and rigid enough to compete with non collapsible crates. The design had to project an image of durability, reliability and strength. Awards:
