Q. What is Family and MWR? A. The United States Army’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation directorate of the
Installation Management Command is a military organization whose primary mission is to provide the U.S. Army with programs that fulfill and support the Army Family Covenant. Family and MWR Programs strive to provide Soldiers and their Families with “the same quality of life afforded the society they protect.”
Q. Why does MWR exist? A. Family and MWR exists because the U.S. Army is committed to the well-being of the
community of people who serve and defend the nation. The mission of Fort Belvoir MWR is to deliver quality programs that enhance the readiness and resiliency of the entire military community. Services range from ski trips to fitness classes and include everything in between such as the numerous Family programs at Army Community Service. We invite and encourage you to use our services. We hope to become an integral part of your Fort Belvoir stay.
Q. Can I use MWR services and facilities? A. Great question! Those eligible to use MWR facilities are: • • • • • • •

Fort Belvoir Aquatics operates indoor and seasonal outdoor pools which are available to Family and MWR patrons. Benyaurd Indoor Pool is a yearround, six-lane, 25-yard lap pool with water exercise equipment. They also offer scuba classes, swimming lessons, water safety instructor and lifeguard training. Any of the pools can also be reserved for parties or special events. Please contact the particular facility of interest for hours, fees and restrictions.

ACS offers no-cost classes and trainings that are designed to equip Service Members, Family Members, Retirees, and Department of Defense Civilians with the life skills, knowledge and support needed to face the challenges of military life. ACS provides a wide array of quality Family support programs and a friendly place to turn when Service Members and their Families need help with anything from financial planning to making a permanent change of station (PCS) move. Located along Gunston Road, the Kawamura Automotive Skills Center is an economical way to take care of your car. The key to keeping your vehicle reliable is regular maintenance. The Automotive Skills Center makes car maintenance easy and affordable by providing space, supplies and advice. Automotive Skills Amenities: • 13 bays and 7 lifts • Bays are first-come, first-served (no reservations) • Safety classes are required for new users and are held at the Center during operating hours. Resale Car Lot: The resale car lot is the perfect place to showcase your vehicle for sale or to pick one out. Spaces are assigned at the Automotive Skills Center.

Fort Belvoir BOSS
Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) represents the voice of the single Service member. BOSS members advocate for advancing quality of life issues on the installation and in the barracks to senior leaders on post and throughout the Army. “Let Your Voice Be Heard.” The BOSS Center amenities include multiple independent cable TVs that provide all generic sports channels, as well as DVD players and various gaming consoles. On site, there is a pool table and Wi-Fi is available for general use. BOSS activities at Fort Belvoir include weekly bowling nights, sporting events, and various outdoor adventures and trips. Single service members can get involved in the community with various volunteer opportunities. Child and Youth Services (CYS) offers a variety of Family support programs including child care, fitness, socialization and development for children of all ages. The Child Development Centers (CDC) provide full-day and hourly care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The Part Day Pre-School offers full-day, hourly and before/after school care for children from K to 6th grade. During the school year, they have a part-day preschool program for children 3 to 5 years. Family Child Care (FCC) is geared toward children 6 weeks to 12 years old and offers a safe environment in a home setting for a small ratio of children. The Youth Center (YC) is available for 6th graders and older, and offers a variety of youth opportunities in life skills, citizenship, leadership, recreation, and arts programs. Youth Sports & Fitness (YS) offers both team and individual sports. Overall, CYS provides a healthy environment, enriching activities, and warm, loving care for every child. It is important to know that all of the services provided through CYS require registration with Parent Central Services.

The Fort Belvoir Community Center is a newly renovated, all-around facility that offers room reservations for events such as parties, weddings, conferences, and trainings. You can register for various classes offered here including guitar, piano, drum, cooking, dancing, and painting. The Community Center is also the home of Leisure Travel Services, equipped to meet for all your travel and ticketing needs. In addition, you can enjoy a delicious lunch in the Community Center at Bozzelli Bros. Deli, while you watch TV or play pool. Finally, wind down at The Lounge located at the opposite end of the Deli on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The Lounge includes new flat screen TVs, an outdoor porch, and a bar with your favorite beverages.

LTS provides fast and personalized services. LTS has great working relationships with a variety of travel companies and resorts around the world, along with many local attractions in the area. Discounted military rates are available to Active Duty, Retirees, DoD civilians, Reservists, and Family members.

The MWR Library provides Fort Belvoir with customer-focused professional staff and resources that support the recreational reading and life-long learning needs of the community. The Library offers current bestselling fiction and non-fiction, classic literature, CD audiobooks, and DVDs. The Library has something for every age and interest including a children’s library and a young adult collection. The Library’s digital collection is available 24/7 from any internet connected device. Registered borrowers may access dozens of electronic resources, such as encyclopedias, journal articles, college prep tests, and language learning. eBooks and digital audiobooks are also available for download on most mobile devices. Public computers are available for customers to access the internet and use Microsoft® Office applications. The Library has Wi-Fi for laptops or other mobile device users.

Outdoor Recreation offers a RV park, travel trailers, and the Thermo Con House for guests to rent and relax on Fort Belvoir. The Travel Camp is in a perfect location along the shore of the Potomac River. There are 52 full-hookup, 40-foot RV spaces available for rent. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring for grilling and campfires, with a stunning view of the Potomac River. Castle Park, two fishing piers and Accotink Wildlife Refuge hiking trails are all within walking distance from the Travel Camp. ODR offers year round travel trailer rentals at the Travel Camp. Each on-site RV sleeps up to eight guests and includes power, water, cable TV and WiFi.

The Fort Belvoir Family and MWR Sports and Fitness team offers a wide variety of sports programs, fitness classes, exercise equipment, facilities, sports teams, and fitness events. The fitness centers offer a pleasant atmosphere to help you stay on track with your personal gym workouts. MWR maintains tennis courts, softball fields, and running tracks. Sports and Fitness runs the Intramural Sports Program, where Belvoir units and agencies compete in 13 sports to earn Commander’s Cup points.
