or nearly 25 years, the College of Health Care Professions (CHCP) has been training students in Texas for careers in some of the largest and fastestgrowing fields of today and tomorrow – Allied Health. A CHCP degree or certificate sets the course for your success whether you are thinking about preparing for a new career in health care or want to advance in your health care profession. CHCP campuses offer the modern facilities needed to prepare students for the demands of the allied health care workforce. Once successfully trained, you can begin a rewarding career and make a difference in the lives of others as a Medical Assistant or Dental Assistant. When you choose to start your training with CHCP, you will receive a quality education that prepares you for your entry level health care career. According to the Texas Workforce Commission, Medical Assisting is currently one of the fastest growing occupations in Texas, and it is easy to see why. Medical Assistants can work in a large variety of workplaces, such as clinics, hospitals, chiropractor or podiatrist offices, and other health care facilities. The curriculum that CHCP offers covers an array of training in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, typing, medical records, bookkeeping, basic math, and even insurance and billing processing. In addition, CHCP offers exciting extern opportunities. Students will also learn laboratory methods, procedures in diagnosing, pharmacology, medicine and drug related principles, administration of medicine, basic first aid and CPR. CHCP also ensures that students will learn and practice the skills that are required to work within a medical facility. These skills include communication with patients and staff, health laws, ethics, professional image, critical thinking, persistence and even managing priorities. Above all, they must make patients feel comfortable and verify what the physician has instructed. If you have compassion and commitment, becoming a Medical Assistant may be the perfect career for you.

Dental Assisting is another rewarding vocation, and demand for qualified Dental Assistants is growing. The Texas Workforce Commission has forecasted that employment of Dental Assistants will increase 34.2% from 2008 to 2018. With a career as a Dental Assistant in Texas, you can enjoy a pleasant, people-oriented work environment. CHCP can prepare you for this with a combination of lectures, labs, and hands-on experience. The course curriculum will cover areas such as assisting a dentist chair side with patients, dental radiographs, patient charting, nutrition, anatomy and physiology of the head and neck, and office procedures, culminating with a dental externship, where you can put your skills to use. If you possess visual perception and can work well with your hands, Dental Assisting may be just right for you. CHCP has recently opened two new campuses in Texas. The Fort Worth campus located at 4248 North Freeway, and the Dallas campus at 8390 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Suite 300. Both of these campuses offer Medical Assisting and Dental Assisting programs with new classes starting soon. In addition, Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist, Health Information Technology and more programs will be coming in the next months. Along with offering on campus programs, CHCP has an online degree programs available across Texas, where students have the independence to advance their careers around busy schedules. With CHCP, now is the perfect time to get on the path to a new career!
