FWADA is a unique arts organization in a unique American place. Few cities of Fort Worth’s size are privileged to command such a wealth of major art museums, and fewer still have such a vital community spirit. What truly sets Fort Worth apart, however, is the vigorous, longstanding, clearly defined cooperation between the museums, the university art galleries, the non-profit exhibition spaces, and the art dealers, all of which are full working members of FWADA.
A group exhibit meant to bring back many memories of Texas Summer 2022. Artists participating in this endeavor are Gale Johnston, Gloria Sepp, Phillip Ecton, Camille Kerr Kay Wirz, John D Williams Barry Udoff, and Jennifer Stufflebeam. Our art interpretations will be presented to the public on paper, canvas ,plexiglass and metal in mixed medias. Light refreshments will be served. Social distancing will be practiced. All these attainments have created a stable environment that produces a steady stream of top-notch talent, including major local artists who exhibit their work nationally and internationally. Newcomers are frequently dazzled by the quality of work being created in every medium and style. Their passion reinvigorates Fort Worth patrons who have become habituated to the riches that surround them, reminding them anew that the most authentic cultural connection they can make is the one that affords direct communication with the artists who interpret and illuminate the life experience they share through common background and interests. Although the city is justly recognized for its cosmopolitan worldview, it is the local artists and their devoted collectors who are the lifeblood of the Fort Worth art market.
MISSION2022
To fulfill its stated mission to stimulate interest in the visual arts through educational programs, art scholarships, and art competitions, FWADA organizes, funds, and hosts exhibitions of noteworthy art.

These current works are monochrome photo intaglio prints, from original photographs by the artist. They are printed on BFK Rives, bark paper, and chine collé washi paper, with Charbonnel ink. The themes deal with mythology and myth-making attached to objects and locations from urban legends to Native-American and Aboriginal story-telling, with Greek, Roman, Japanese, and Norse mythology, heroes, sheroes, and superheroes, in comic books, sci-fi tales, and ghost stories told around a campfire. These prints give homage to indigenous ways of knowing through stylized, semi-abstracted figurations depicting a potential narrative sequence. Shadows of mythical stories haunt the landscapes, alluding to creation stories. The work suggests myths and daydreams in a dreamworld of cosmic nature, evoking notions of disappearance, deconstruction, and self-effacement. The mythological world is part of being human. These prints bridge past and present, the mystical and concrete.

After missing the 2020 Biennial due to the pandemic, Arts Fort Worth will focus on the local creative community that kept us going through the shutdown, highlighting Fort Worth and Tarrant County artists. A paradigm shift is an intense transformative process that lacks a true beginning, middle, and end. Martos’ upcoming show celebrates this concept through a carefully thought-out presentation of curated wall pieces created through the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as a brand new series where the artist explores new materials that help convey a sensation of shifting process and movement. The exhibit will showcase dynamic three-dimensional wall sculptures with monofilament, colored acrylic mirror and other media. Jazz music by the Andrew Skates Trio will be performed on the patio from 4-7pm and food will be available for purchase.

On view, Aug. 22-Oct. 21, 2022 Artist Rueben Gonzales presents his photographic body of work, Counterpoint The Climb, an on-going body of contemporary work that is an extension of the New Topographics discourse. The images investigate emotion and memory using traditional black and white imagery as a counterpoint to the overload and pace of production of contemporary photographs. The black and white aesthetic lends itself to memory and nostalgia, allowing for less leading narrative, and more room for personal interpretation of the images. Masks are encouraged but not required.
Wagner’s Statement on Sublime: “SUBLIME is growth. A meandering self-propagating pseudoscape that has taken root in Fort Works Art. With each installation, I use the space as the substrate. Where the walls are, the height of the ceiling, the windows, the way sunlight crawls across the gallery floor, and the architectural bones are all foundational pivot points for site-specific world-building”
SUBLIME by artist Crystal Wagner. Sublime is a site-specific installation by artist Crystal Wagner. Wagner, with the help of a small local team, built a large-scale immersive ecosystem in the heart of Fort Worth’s cultural district. People of all ages are encouraged to come in and interact with the artwork, as that experience itself is part of the artwork. The exhibition is sponsored by Gallery of Dreams, opened on July 9th, and will be on view through October 15th. Built by the internationally recognized artist Crystal Wagner. Wagner is a full-time interdisciplinary artist whose work directly reflects world-building ideas through the physical use of textural and recyclable materials such as picnic table plastic with the natural movement of our bodies through the urban landscape.

Reminiscing the Now features the work of sixteen prominent ceramic sculptors exemplifying the breadth and diversity of stylistic and conceptual directions in contemporary clay. Curated by UTA art professors Yana Payusova and Nicholas Wood, the works selected for this exhibition coalesce around the broad potential of clay and the ongoing elastic concept of what sculpture can be amidst the historical, cultural, social, and media-soaked environments artists reflect in their studio practices today.

The Sid Richardson Museum’s collection is home to five nocturnes, or night paintings, by renowned artist Frederic Remington. Painted in the last decade of his life, Remington created scenes set under the shadows of night that feature the glow of moonlight. In honor of FWADA’s Fall Gallery Night, the museum has invited Fort Worth artist Kerri Menchaca to host a demonstration of her painting process for creating nightsky landscapes. The creative use of steel materials and his inspiring attention to detail is well worth one’s time to come and experience Conscencio’s sculptures.

“I typically work in a variety of media to achieve playful collaborative environments through manipulation of translucent fiber materials layered with cellophane and painted blocks, welcoming participants to add, rearrange, or otherwise change the work. The tactility and unpredictable nature of these materials lends itself to improvisational construction, which translates well to the medium of glass, and presents a challenging balance between spontaneity and control.“

Artist Talk in the gallery at 3:30 pm, Saturday September 10 Cochran will present new and reconfigured works related to her micro residency, Retrospectator that took place in Moudy Gallery, January 2022. Retrospectator played with the language of retrospective exhibitions, placing emphasis upon the artist (herself) to review, spectate and take stock of their own work. BRB, the second installment of this two-part project, explores further Cochran’s interests in labor and leisure, production and play. Her installation comprises video, sculpture and print focused on browsing, reclining and daydreaming as productive and valuable creative acts.

Artist Talk in the gallery at 2 pm, Saturday September 10 Ian Weaver’s interdisciplinary artistic practice explores memory and considers how individuals and communities construct their own identities. In reference to Christina Sharpe’s writings on representations of Black life, the title of Weaver’s exhibition responds to multiple understandings of “wake” – the temporary and ephemeral path behind a boat, a social ritual associated with funerals and a celebration of the dead, and the idea of awakening or becoming conscious. At FWCA Weaver responds to “wake” with a selection of objects that collectively weave together intersecting concerns of memory and identity. Referencing historic maritime culture, his new works include the skeletal frame of a boat hull, an anchor, and part of a lighthouse. He also includes family photographic portraiture and a film that documents the wake of a boat referencing locations of the Underground railroad on the South Side of Chicago.

Love Texas Art is honored to present the first solo exhibition for Fort Worth based painter, Jacob Lovett. Through Blinders, Lovett explores the concept of truth and our individual journey to find it. He depicts Bronc and Bull riders clinging to their opponent, both rider and animal in independent struggle. Through these works, Lovett is depicting the sometimes-violent struggle to find truth, both with ourselves and in the world around us. In a clean greyscale palette with crisp white backgrounds, Lovett brings the terms Western and Modern together in each of his 20 oil paintings. On Gallery Night, Jacob Lovett will debut his Blinder’s limited edition T-shirts with a live screen printing event in partnership with Printed Threads. Get your own T-shirt printed from 6-9pm. Join us on Fall Gallery Night as we celebrate his hard work and share his paintings with the public.

Show Title: NOW KITH The Kickpigeon Kids are happy to present NOW KITH, an installation of work from diverse artists in a space with a collection of art objects that asks where one stops and another begins. Invited artists from across the metroplex were asked to consider the ways in which the objects, communities, and cities surrounding them extend the functional boundaries of an artist’s studio beyond the literal space that art is made in. The Kickpigeon Kids are the team of Max Marshall and Cosmo Jones, a collaborative outfit exploring a philosophy of curation that questions the ordered aesthetic of gallery walls, the accessibility of preserved collections, and the established boundaries between art, artist, and consumer.
Regular Hours: Tues.-Fri. 10 am-5 pm, Sat. Noon-4 pm Park + Eighth is home to over a dozen Texas artists with works that include sculptures, collages, mosaics and paintings. All pieces are original and come in a variety of mediums, styles, sizes and palettes. Our venue is unique in that the art selections are carefully curated and placed amongst sleek and stylish furnishings that give the viewer a sense of scale and more. The art collection at Park + Eighth has a modern flavor as a whole but one will find gorgeous florals, mineral and coral creations as well as pop art, just to name a few. Christina Phillips, owner and interior designer, happily assists clients in making the perfect selection for their spaces. We welcome commission requests as well.

Students, faculty, patients and neighbors all have one thing in common: they’re people. And we put the needs of our people first. In addition to being a premier academic medical center, HSC believes in the bigger picture of health. Five schools and one shared purpose. Creating an environment where innovation and ideas can thrive, and all people feel informed, empowered and understood.
