FORT WORTH ART DEALERS ASSOCIATION

GALLERY NIGHT TM SATURDAY, MARCH 26, 2022

www.fwada.com

FWADA MEMBERS MISSION STATEMENT FWADA is a unique arts organization in a unique American place. Few cities of Fort Worth’s size are privileged to command such a wealth of major art museums, and fewer still have such a vital community spirit. What truly sets Fort Worth apart, however, is the vigorous, longstanding, clearly defined cooperation between the museums, the university art galleries, the non-profit exhibition spaces, and the art dealers, all of which are full working members of FWADA. To fulfill its stated mission to stimulate interest in the visual arts through educational programs, art scholarships, and art competitions, FWADA organizes, funds, and hosts exhibitions of noteworthy art. FWADA sponsors the annual Fall Gallery Night and Spring Gallery Night for members and friends. FWADA also sponsors an annual show featuring submitted artworks from Member institutions, the summer Selections exhibition. Keep an eye out for our Gallery Guide! You can find our most recent issue in your FW Weekly newspaper, or pick one up at a Member gallery or museum. All these attainments have created a stable environment that produces a steady stream of top-notch talent, including major local artists who exhibit their work nationally and internationally. Newcomers are frequently dazzled by the quality of work being created in every medium and style. Their passion reinvigorates Fort Worth patrons who have become habituated to the riches that surround them, reminding them anew that the most authentic cultural connection they can make is the one that affords direct communication with the artists who interpret and illuminate the life experience they share through common background and interests. Although the city is justly recognized for its cosmopolitan worldview, it is the local artists and their devoted collectors who are the lifeblood of the Fort Worth art market. The members of the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association are pledged to the maintenance of a high standard of ethical conduct and professional integrity; these businesses furnish a model that gallery associations in other cities might do well to emulate. FWADA is to be commended for its important role as a contributor to the cultural and aesthetic richness of Fort Worth.

Jordan Vinyard’s work is about reestablishing the virtue of the physical body. Consisting of kinetic sculptures, multi-media installations and video/performance, these pieces intentionally create physically instinctive gaps for viewers. Vinyard believes technology can be utilized to re-humanize by prompting an audience to begin asking not, “What is that thing doing?” but rather, “What am I doing that makes that thing do what it’s doing?” Real Stories Curated by: Jesse Herrera; CoAct Program Gallery

Fort Works Art is pleased to announce artist Jessica Vollrath’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. This exhibition will run from March 22, 2022 - April 23, 2022, with an artist reception on Spring Gallery Night, March 26th.

A selection of original art offerings from artists from all over the country. Genres include paintings, photography and sculptural art works.

Artist Jessica Vollrath is creating her current body of work referencing the changes in her life that she has experienced since becoming a mother of two and working at home through the pandemic. For the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends out there who have all watched over little ones in the last decade, you might recognize the subject of Vollrath’s new body of work as Magna tiles, the magnetic building toys used by kids to play and learn geometry. Bringing such a simple everyday object into the forefront of these paintings as the focus of her series, Vollrath endeavors to unite individuals together that might otherwise feel disconnected. This recognizable symbol of childhood play translates across the ideologies and definitions of self that we all carry. Her approach to these works playfully remind us that in small ways, we are all truly interconnected. They reference the magnetism that we will always have as human beings, even during times of isolation and loneliness, similar to what we have experienced throughout this current chapter in our history.

Intentionally working with oil paint, these slow moving, layered surfaces are a resistance to the slickness, speed, and expectations of the digital world or media we encounter daily.
