New Alresford Town Council
A Neighbourhood Plan Engagement Day
Advertisement
In March, Council approved the Terms of Reference for the Neighbourhood Advisory Group. The Neighbourhood Advisory Group will consist of three councillors with the remainder being made up of residents of the town. This was an opportunity for all New Alresford residents to drop in and have their say in developing a shared vision for New Alresford, the event was led by planning consultants Troy Planning & Design who are advising NATC and the Neighbourhood Advisory Group. This is for the benefit of the community, and we want to thank all those who joined in and gave opinions on their future vision of New Alresford. Please follow the website for updates and the latest news Dogs in Recreation Grounds
What is obedient dog behaviour in open spaces? Good behaviour in the Recreation Grounds is a matter of being able to control the dog by teaching simple commands such as "Come", "Look", and "Down". We hope that people will show responsible dog ownership while walking in the parks and open spaces. These spaces are for all to enjoy, young, old and dog walkers especially as Springtime has arrived encouraging more visitors to the open spaces. Unfortunately, we have recently received complaints of unruly dogs in our parks. If your dog falls into this category, please ensure they stay on a lead.
Sun Hill Recreation Ground
Younger children will be pleased to learn that the council has ordered a brand-new train in the play area. It will be installed on 12th May.
Flowers in our parks
Thank you to all the local school children school who gave their time to come and plant daffodils and crocuses. You can now see the fruits of your labour.
Access to Rugby Fields
The council have commenced negotiations with the Town Trust with regards to accessing the Rugby Fields via The Avenue. Until the negotiations have concluded the Town Trust has requested that no access to the Rugby Fields is made via The Avenue. NATC apologise for any inconvenience caused and is working to resolve the matter as soon as possible. The Rugby Fields can be accessed from alternative entrances to Arlebury Park.
Great British Spring Clean-Keep Britain Tidy
This scheme was back for its seventh year and The Alresford Litter Pick took place on 26th March. Over sixty individual residents came together to clear most areas of litter throughout the town, showing an enthusiastic sense of pride and community spirit. Some most unusual litter and objects were found! The council wants to thank Idverde, for supplying the litter picks and for the generosity of the Arlebury café who offered hot & cold drinks to all involved. The council also wants to thank Rotary who conducted a major clean-up of Broad Street including the gutters and cleared all litter.
Lengthsman
The council lengthsman has also conducted a huge tidy up around the entire parish, including footpath clearance and hedge cutting. In addition, he also cleared the town centre of weeds. This is a good starting point at the beginning of the growing season to keep it up so please keep the curtilage in front of your shop or house clear of weed or litter. If you see any overgrowth or problems on the town footpaths, we would like to hear from you. Either telephone the Town Council office 01962 732079 or email committeeclerk@newalresfordtc.gov.uk
Look out for new events in and around Alresford this Spring kicking off with the long-awaited return of the famous Watercress Festival on Sunday 15th May.
