Friday 6th May Stockbridge Cinema - Chalk

From 4.30pm and 7.30pm The chalkstreams are famous among fly fishers the world over, and this documentary film explores their past, present and future. It celebrates not only the beauty of the rivers and the aesthetics of fly fishing, and the people who shape the sport. A range of expert voices tell the tale of how this accident of geology changed a sport forever. It covers many of the highlights of the chalkstreams and their history: the revered mayfly hatch, the dry fly revolution and the ‘dark art’ of nymphing, the weedcut, and the manicured estates of the Rivers Test, Itchen and others, and the uncertain futures of these iconic rivers. Author and Executive Producer of the film, Simon Cooper, will introduce the film and take part in a Q&A session after each screening of the film (approx 30 minutes). Information common to all films: Showing at Stockbridge Town Hall SO20 6HE.
