WELCOME TO FORWARD TRAVEL WE CREATED FORWARD TRAVEL TO GIVE OUR CLIENTS THE BEST AND MOST COMPLETE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE, AND A JOURNEY THROUGH SOUTH AMERICA IS CERTAINLY UP THERE WITH THE BEST. We have been wandering the globe for over half our lives and helping other people travel for almost as long. We have ventured far and wide along roads less travelled and busy highways and can probably tell you our passport numbers quicker than our phone numbers.
We love all things South American; David is particularly fond of rural Ecuador and Colombia, and Rose’s heart is pretty happy in the lesser visited southern area of Patagonia. Luckily we regularly return to check on favourite places and discover new areas worthy of visiting.
With so much fantastic feedback from our past and present clients we decided to open Forward Travel in 2013 to bring our Forward thinking travel concept to our own audience.
You may physically travel for 3-7 weeks but your journey starts the moment you pick up the phone to call us, or hit send on an email. You’ll start your journey with us as a traveller, and we look Forward to welcoming you back as a friend.
If you agree that travel is part of life, not a break from it, rather an integral part of your experience, then you are a Forward Traveller. If you travel for experiences more than sightseeing then you are one of us. We want your memories to be of great guides, comical “Spanglish” conversations, and secret places you found while wandering on your own. We want you to be immersed in your location, rather than merely taking photos of places you’d already seen in the brochures. We think of it as being part of the picture, rather than just taking the picture. Travel deserves proper planning and careful preparation, and you should savour the anticipation as each journey approaches. Travel teaches us, it rewards us, it challenges us, it surprises us, and hopefully it creates happiness, with memories that deserve to be shared.
We hope you like our brochure, and hopefully we’ll talk soon. Rose and David
That is why we created Forward Travel, to help Forward thinking travellers to travel better, travel further and travel more.

TRAVELLING FORWARD
FORWARD PRICING
All our journeys are customised for each person, so our style of travel is really your style.
Most people convince a partner or friend to travel with them so all prices in the brochure are per person, based on two people travelling together and sharing accommodation with each other. If you are looking for some time out and solitude we can plan a trip just for you. Most of our trips are independent so can be tailored as you wish. We welcome larger groups and can often secure discounts for them. To keep things simple (and free up brochure space) all the itineraries in the brochure have common inclusions.
We will discuss with you how you like to travel, including the type of accommodation and touring you prefer as well as how enegertic you want to be. We can then make suggestions to reflect your preferences. We like the value of 3.5 – 4 star hotels, but also have a great supply of fantastic indulgent places to mix it up as well when suitable. Look for the ‘Dessert’ options throughout the brochure. An English speaking guide will meet you upon arrival in each place and escort you to your hotel. We include guided sightseeing to show you famous, and fabulous places, and then plenty of time for you to explore on your own. Our guides can give great insights to hidden jewels and great restaurants the guide books may not know about. When it is time to move on you’ll be picked up and taken to the next exciting destination. We sometimes use tourist buses for scenic drives, instead of flying, always with someone to put you on the right bus, and also meet you at your destination. This gives you maximum time to enjoy the journey without having to worry about the boring bits.
INCLUSIONS • Arrival and departure transfers with English speaking driver/ guides in each location. • All land transportation, from your arrival on day one, through to departure on the final day. • Good quality, well located accommodation, with private facilities and breakfast daily. Other meals are listed in each itinerary. • Sightseeing tours, usually shared with other travellers, (to keep the price down), led by English speaking guides. In some places, e.g. Machu Picchu, your tour will be just for you. • Entrance fees that can be paid in advance. Some National Parks require payment upon arrival, and your travel planner will let you know if this applies to you. • 24 hour assistance by our trusted partners in each country. • Prices shown are ‘from’ prices and are subject to availability and seasonal price increases. Prices are valid through till end of March 2016 and longer where specified. • Please see our website for full terms and conditions. Flights are NOT included, as some can be included in your International ticket to save money. An indication is listed separately.
ABOUT THIS BROCHURE We believe planning travel is like cooking. We choose the best ingredients and find creative ways to showcase their highlights. There are journeys to tempt everyone’s ‘travel buds’. Short trips (snacks and entrees), longer trips (banquets) and lovely indulgent stays (desserts). We’ll talk about how hungry you are, what flavours you like and whether you prefer the relaxation of slow cooking or the quick pace of a stir fry. Think of this brochure as your Forward Travel South America cookbook and each ‘suggested’ tour as a recipe which just needs you, the main ingredient, to work out the final seasoning to perfect it. Now you just need to sit down, maybe grab a snack or a beverage and prepare to you tantalise your ‘Travel Buds’.

FLIGHTS TO SOUTH AMERICA THE FASTEST WAY TO GET FROM AUSTRALIA TO SOUTH AMERICA IS TO FLY FROM SYDNEY TO SANTIAGO IN CHILE, AND THEN CONNECT TO OTHER CITIES. FROM DECEMBER 2015, AIR NEW ZEALAND WILL FLY VIA AUCKLAND TO BUENOS AIRES.
QANTAS flies non-stop from Sydney to Santiago 3 times a week and LAN flies 7 days a week, with a short stop in Auckland. QANTAS and LAN are both One World partners. This means you can purchase a ticket with one airline and fly on the other if there are seats available. Don’t worry though – we will explain it all when planning your trip. LAN merged with TAM in 2012 and their combined network covers over 115 cities in South America. Buying a LAN airline ticket to South America gives you up to 50% discount on flights within South America, making them the best option. Our close relationship with LAN ensures we have great value airfares in both economy and business and are experts in booking them. In 2015 LAN intrduced the Boeing 787 Dreamliner between Sydney and Santiago. This new aircraft feature: • Larger windows with auto-dimming and dynamic lighting to create a better atmosphere. • Aerodynamic technology to reduce the impact felt by passengers due to turbulence. • 30% more storage space for carry-on luggage. • New air humidification techniques to significantly reduce fatigue and dryness associated with long trips. • Noise reducing technology inside and outside the aircraft.

THE GALAPAGOS ARCHIPELAGO IS A FASCINATING HAVEN OF FLORA AND FAUNA, WITH A DIVERSE RANGE OF PLANTS AND WILDLIFE THAT HAVE ADAPTED TO EACH UNIQUE ISLAND.
GALAPAGOS
ALL YEAR. Jan-May is warmer and seas are calmer. Jun-Dec is cooler but more fish and birdlife. 4-15 days. Boats have a 15 day cycle, broken down into smaller sectors. We think 8 days is ideal, but shorter trips still give you a good taste of it. If you prefer to sleep on dry land, we have island based trips too. Wildlife is spread throughout the islands with the famous marine iguanas, sea lions, blue footed boobies and Frigate birds being found on most islands. We can match yours specific interest with the relevant islands.
THE BOAT: Size, comfort, and capacity are the keys. Excursions are capped at 16 people per guide. Boats range from 16 – over 100 guests, with smaller boats having one multilingual guide, and larger ones often having dedicated English speaking groups. Catamarans, and larger ships are the more stable, and boats range from the budget “Tourist” class, through to indulgent “Luxury” class. The boats included here are just a sample and your ‘chef’ will help find the right one for you.
