Fashion Capital This has to be up there as one of my favourite times to be in London. There’s an infectious ‘back to school’ positivity that comes at this time of year, but there’s also the excitement of playing host to two of the world’s most iconic celebrations of creativity: London Fashion Week and the London Design Festival. In honour of that, we’ve dedicated this issue to seeking out the Capital’s most fabulously fashionable things, starting with a stunning shoot of the gorgeous model, stylist and blogger Roxie Nafousi, who was keen to show us the more accessible face of fashion and talk to us about her wonderful work with the Mental Health Foundation. Even if you’re not directly involved with the Fashion Week fun, we’ve arranged for one lucky reader to win a pair of tickets to the London Fashion Week Festival. Here’s to a most stylish September.

Artemis Fitzalan Howard is not afraid to ask the big questions. Having caused a stir at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, with two-part musical Predrinks/ Afterparty, she now presents, with her theatre company Deadpan, a new play that’s described as a “poignant and witty story of love and loss that asks what really happens to us after we die”. Directed by Sadie Spencer, Gate challenges the theories of our greatest thinkers, from psychologists to economists to evolutionists. Given Fitzalan Howard’s track record, we’d wager it’s executed with just the right level of lightness and laughs. Not to be missed.

“The first time I held a prism and turned it to the light it did what the Impressionists struggled a lifetime to do; it embraced the light, split the light; it seemed to understand the very secret of light.” In his first full-length play for over ten years, writer/director Terry Johnson returns to Hampstead Theatre at the behest of his lead actor Robert Lindsay, who, over a laid-back lunch, persuaded Johnson to stage the story of legendary cinematographer Jack Cardiff. Having retired to the sleepy village of Denham, Buckinghamshire, Cardiff, surrounded by memorabilia from a lifetime of “painting with light”, reflects on his truly extraordinary life in celluloid – not least his secret liaisons with some of the world’s most famous women. Illuminating stuff.

GALLERY FOCUS

LAMB ARTS W1J

Lucinda Bellm is the 29-year-old founder and director of Mayfair’s Latin American contemporary art space. Having travelled through Brazil at the age of 23, living with graffiti artists in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Lucinda immersed herself in the local art scene, which became a passion she couldn’t shake off – even when back in London. With a stronglyheld conviction that there was a lack of Latin American representation in the Capital, she began collecting Cuban art from the 1970s and started her own website, which promoted the cultural exchange between Latin America and Europe, before opening the gallery in 2014. Today, LAMB Arts enjoys a constant influx of new, international collectors and boasts an enviable clientele including London’s most glittering luminaries – Mick Jagger is a regular here. This month, Lucinda will present two solo shows by prominent Columbian artists Jim Amaral and Valentino Cortáza: their surreal and erotic paintings are set to put a sizzle into September’s cultural diary.

As the summer draws to a close, the fashion world is abuzz with excitement at the prospect of the shows and parties of London Fashion Week. It goes without saying that for those who work in the industry, stylist, model and blogger Roxie Nafousi among them, this is one of the highlights of the year. “It’s a lot of fun, the atmosphere is amazing and the parties are great,” she grins. But she also recognises that the catwalk scene can be “intimidating for a lot of people on the outside looking in”. It was this belief, and a desire to make people feel good about themselves, that led her to launch her own styling company, Rawan. Having grown up “surrounded by women with self-confidence issues”, Roxie developed an interest in how the mind works, and went on to study psychology at university. It became clear to her that, for better or worse, how we look has a remarkable influence on how we feel. “Fashion is something that should be empowering; rather than being about slavishly following trends, it can be about showing your personality, the real you. I wanted to bring it back to that and to help women to feel amazing,” she explains. And Roxie really believes that the industry is trying hard to become a much more inclusive place. “Models like Ashley Graham are showing people that you can wear fashion no matter what your size and that what matters most is that it makes you feel good,” she enthuses. So what looks will be empowering Roxie this coming season? “I’m trying out some more two-piece suits at the moment, a bit more of an androgynous look actually,” she explains. Designer-wise, she’ll be looking to the Topshop show for inspiration – “It’s always really accessible as well as being cool (and their front row is a lovely place to be!)”, and Temperley London, whose collections are always “just stunning”. I wonder whether Roxie might want to try her own hand at design some day? “I would love that, but nothing too intimidating, just everyday stuff, sort of wardrobe essentials and classic pieces. It would be such an amazing opportunity to reach out to people. Look out for it!”, she laughs.

Of course, feeling good about the way you look is especially important when you have over fifty thousand Instagram followers, and while social media is undoubtedly important to Roxie’s career, she has very mixed feelings about it. “It’s a very love-hate relationship and it depends a lot on how I’m feeling. You’re bombarded with seeing what everybody else is doing. On a good day, that can be really inspiring, but if you’re feeling down it can be hard not to compare others’ lives to your own – and to find yours wanting. My good friends say they can gauge my mood by the number of posts I make!” Roxie has spoken openly about growing up in Oxfordshire and feeling very strongly that she was different to other kids. She was bullied from the age of five – picked on because of the colour of her skin and her Middle Eastern heritage. At the time she felt totally out of touch with her feelings, unable to talk to anybody about how sad she felt. “I struggled with depression at school and I think there was definitely a sense of: ‘I shouldn’t be like this – what’s wrong with me?’” Knowing this, it is perhaps not surprising to discover that Roxie has chosen to become an ambassador for the Mental Health Foundation. “The majority of people will have gone through a period in their lives where they have felt depressed or anxious, but there is still a stigma attached to mental health problems. We feel the need to give the impression that we are happy all the time and that can be really damaging,” she tells me, “particularly for young people who do not have the life experience to be able to see a light at the end of the tunnel.” Roxie hopes that her work with the charity will encourage

“I can't imagine living anywhere else -and I really do feel so lucky every day to live here. We are so spoilt ” more people to talk openly and to seek help when they feel that they just can’t cope. “It’s definitely the best part of what I do. Every time I have written about mental health, or spoken about it, I have people saying ‘Thanks, it’s so good to know that it’s not just me.’” For Roxie, life in London means that she now rarely experiences that feeling of being totally alone. “We live in a bit of a bubble in London and we think that everybody’s got lots of friends. Even popping down to the shop here is full of social interaction. Those small human connections that we make each day are sort of building blocks for generally feeling good about ourselves.” It is just one of the many reasons she loves living in the Capital. “I can’t imagine living anywhere else and I really do feel so lucky, every day, to live here. We are so spoilt.” And as she waxes lyrical about life in London, I’m reminded just how spoilt we actually are. From the retail therapy – “there’s a really cute boutique on the King’s Road called Baar & Bass, which is gorgeous and really eclectic; actually I love Duke of York Square in general; and South Molton Street, especially Brown’s. And you can’t beat Topshop at Oxford Circus…” – to the beauty treatments – “Dr Rabia Malik at Grace in Belgravia gives these PRP facials, the vampire facial, and honestly, afterwards your skin is unbelievable. And Zen Spa, which I think is now called Koia, in Notting Hill, gives the best massages ever,” – and the fitness studios – “Pscycle do amazing spin classes; and the TRX classes at Ethos in Spitalfields are honestly the best I’ve ever done; and everything at Core Collective is just so hip.” But it is the food that really gets Roxie talking…

“Oh, god, I eat out three times a day. It’s so hard not to,” she laughs. “I love taking myself out for breakfast. There’s Granger and Co. and Cecconi’s; all of the Soho House restaurants; Poilâne… And I love Bob Bob Ricard: their steak is some of the best I’ve ever had. And the sushi at Dinings is the nicest I’ve eaten anywhere, it’s out of this world.” I’ll admit, it is refreshing to know that models actually do eat. “It’s a good thing I’m on the go all the time,” she says. “I walk everywhere, there’s so much to see here. One of my favourite walks is through Hyde Park to Notting Hill, ending up on Kensington Park Gardens – my favourite street in London.” Our time with Roxie is drawing to a close, she has lunch reservations. I, meanwhile, am off to scrutinise her Instagram for more London inspiration. (rawan.com)

That said, it’s some time since we were this excited about a shirt. But there’s something extra special about White and White, who are exhibiting at LFW for the first time this month. Made in London, each of their seven designs is cut from pure Italian cotton or silk, and exquisitely detailed with hand finished French seams; pure silk cuffs; delicate pearl buttons; and the finest pintucking. Perfect for dressing up or dressing down, we think they’re a bit of all white. A true investment. If you only buy one thing this season, make it this. Prices from £250 (whiteandwhite.co.uk)

JAMIE STEVENS I long for luscious, flowing locks, but am blessed with the sort of flyaway hair that quickly looks straggly and messy if not treated to regular trims. With every visit to the salon I make – always a fraught affair – I wave goodbye to those dreams of a Rapunzel-esque mane and I seem to have spent my entire adult life searching for a pair of hairdressing hands in which I feel safe. I’m looking for a pre-Fashion Week fix, though, and Jamie Stevens, hairdresser to the stars (including Elle Macpherson and Kylie Minogue) and holder of the British Hairdresser of the Year title between 2012 and 2015, seems like a man I can trust. I nervously greet him in his salon (conveniently situated between Kensington High Street and Holland Park) and he instantly puts me at ease – helped, no doubt, by the glass of wine pressed into my hand by his lovely assistant – as he explains, in great detail, what he thinks will work with my hair type and face shape. As he snips away he constantly reassures me, checking I’m still okay with going for a shorter, choppier bob than I’ve had in years. I am and the results are extraordinary. I genuinely look, if not ten, then certainly five years younger. Along with lots of great tips, I come away laden with products from Jamie’s own range for my hair-obsessed son to try out. Constantly in demand in the fashion world, Jamie will no doubt be backstage this Fashion Week, watching his work take centrestage. BP 9 Russell Gardens, W14 (020 7371 1944; jamiestevenshair.com)

HOME OF HEALING A specialist treatment centre for children and young adults diagnosed with an eating disorder, Rhodes Wood Hospital is a home to facilitate healing and the re-establishment of a normal life

“You have your whole life ahead of you.” Just eight little words, yet no others could sum up so perfectly the ethos of Rhodes Wood, the beautiful, welcoming home for the treatment of eating disorders in young people. Director Sharon Donaldson paused in the middle of our tour around the light-filled, expansive Regency building to show me the handmade placemats that several young residents had crafted during their stay. Those eight words were written on one in bright felt pen, surrounded by colourful patterns – and the sentence that followed made me realise what a special place I was being shown. The young lady had written: “a beautiful life of happiness, fun, love and laughs”. How true and so poignant, because for many young people, their illness goes unnoticed and escalates before a problem is acknowledged. In today’s society we are seeing an increased number of young people experiencing difficulties around issues with eating; those who have high expectations of themselves or high levels of anxiety, can be more at risk of developing an eating disorder. Parents can sometimes struggle to accept what is happening to their child, and busy lives mean that often a child suffers in silence.

Unfortunately this illness can quickly become entrenched before action is taken. Sharon explained how Rhodes Wood can help parents who have any concerns about their child’s eating habits; an extremely affordable, comprehensive assessment with an eating disorder specialist is available to any outpatient. Although it is based near Hatfield, Rhodes Wood accepts patients from anywhere in the UK. The treatment options offered are highly specialised and can include day care as well as residential care. Children as young as eight to an upper limit of 18 are catered for. There is also an on-site Ofsted-registered school, which ensures that academic work does not get left behind. Although eating disorders are often assumed to be a girls’ illness, Rhodes Wood has seen an increase in the number of boys being referred. With boys, one sign is the replacement of a balanced diet with protein shakes in a mistaken bid to build muscle. With boys and girls, parents are encouraged to be vigilant when their child is exercising compulsively in solitary sports such as running or swimming, and also to be aware that baggy clothes may be hiding a wasting body. Once treatment is started, issues are faced

in a manageable, loving way and the young person learns highly effective strategies for coping with anxieties while learning to eat a healthy, balanced diet within their re-engaged family dynamic. As we walked around the bright, cheerful interior of Rhodes Wood, I saw young people in recovery from a difficult illness; I saw faces of hope, engagement, energy and self discovery. This treatment works in a lasting way and is testament to the care and knowledge that is available to everyone who needs it. All it takes is to reach out and ask.

Profile LONDON FOODIE

Food&drink CLARE SMYTH Chef owner at Core When I was a child I wanted to be… a showjumper. I used to do a lot of horse riding.

Hot table...

CORE

Clare Smyth could’ve made life easier by choosing off plan for her first venture, a shiny space below a new development, perhaps. But she wanted something with soul, because, the culmination of her life’s work, Core, comes very much from her heart. And the space she has chosen is perfect: a resplendent townhouse on Kensington Park Road, once home to the Notting Hill Brasserie, and before that, Prue Leith’s eponymous eatery – a real neighbourhood restaurant. But anyone who has ever renovated period property will know that it’s not without its pitfalls – once Clare’s builders moved in they discovered shonky electrics, difficult drainage and crumbling brickwork, causing the restaurant’s opening date to be pushed back. The anticipation is good, though, and I’m excited to finally visit for lunch in its second week. As the first and only female chef to run a restaurant with three Michelin stars in the UK, it goes without saying that Clare’s emphasis is on fine dining, but she wants to make it more accessible. The bar serves the same menu as the restaurant and is open to walk-ins (good news as the restaurant is booked up for some time), and the kitchen is in full view of the dining room. A playlist of easy listening classics adds to the relaxed vibe and it’s easy to imagine staying for one too many cocktails at the bar and ending up crooning away late into the night. We stop at one,

The first thing I cooked was… Irish stew. My kitchen heroes are… professionally, Gordon, of course, and Alain Ducasse. My fail-safe dinner party menu is… to choose a restaurant and eat out!

though, because lunch, and decorum, are calling. There’s a noticeable lack of meat on the menu, a deliberate move because Clare believes that we should be eating less of it. With that in mind, I feel guilty opting for the oxtail stuffed Roscoff onion served with beef short rib, but our waiter explains that the real hero of this dish is the deliciously caramelised onion, normally a byproduct of the braising process. And celebrate it we should. I’m getting ahead of myself though, because before this comes a selection of amusebouche, including gorugères – delicious puffs of tomatoey, cheesy heaven; then bread, still warm from the oven, with exquisite whipped butter like nothing I’ve tasted before. In fact, everything from the crab royale, served with Colchester crab doughnut, to the lemonade parfait is good, better than good, it’s fantastic. So much so, I’m already planning my return. And I urge you to pop down too. Even if you don’t have reservations you will be welcomed like a regular in the bar. LSJ

My last meal on earth would be… Japanese, probably, as I like flavours that are light, delicate and well balanced. When I feel down, I cook… comforting vegetable soup. My favourite London restaurant… depends on my mood, what time of day it is and who I’m with. There are too many to name just one. My ultimate London day consists of… a lie-in, before hanging out at home for a bit, followed by a good long walk in the park with the dog, then some late lunch, a bit of shopping, cocktails, dinner out, more cocktails and falling into bed! SAY CHEESE Exciting news for fans of fromage: alongside their stores in Highbury and Marylebone, and an online retail shop, La Fromagerie will be opening at a third site, in Bloomsbury this month. Situated in a gorgeous Georgian building on Lamb’s Conduit Street, alongside cheese, the new store will sell seasonal fruit and vegetables, breads, cakes, and own-label products, and it boasts a 26-cover bar and café with al fresco pavement dining, serving everything from brunch to their famous Fondue Savoyarde. We’re most excited about the downstairs Tasting Room, though, with its glass-covered courtyard, which will be available for private hire and tutored tasting events. Definitely bad news for our Fashion Week diet plans… 52 Lamb’s Conduit Street, WC1N (020 7242 1044; lafromagerie.co.uk) FABRICMAGAZINE.CO.UK

Hemsley + Hemsley’s...

QUINOA AN D ROASTED V EG ETA BL E SA L AD WITH BRAZIL NU T P ESTO 45 minutes

Hitting the shops for a wardrobe refresh? As West End watering holes go, they don’t come better placed than (or as guilt-free as) Hemsley + Hemsley at Selfridges. Jasmine and Melissa’s simple, healthy recipes are easy to recreate, too. We asked them to share a favourite. They say, “this is delicious hot from the oven as a warm salad or cold for work the next day. It’s filling and balanced, with a lovely combination of warm and cool vegetables and leafy greens, which we like to pile high. This recipe really is a rainbow on a plate: eye-catching and enticing as well as tasty. For optimal happy digestion, soak the quinoa overnight by covering with double the volume of water.” 400 Oxford Street, W1A (020 7318 3170; selfridges.com; hemsleyandhemsley.com)

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS Roasted vegetable salad

4 large carrots, roughly chopped 1 large red pepper, roughly chopped 2 handfuls of cherry tomatoes or 4 large tomatoes, halved 1 large onion (we used red for colour), roughly chopped 3 large beetroots, well scrubbed and chopped into small chunks or little wedges as they take the longest to cook Sea salt and black pepper 1 tbsp coconut oil Handful of fresh herbs, such as thyme, rosemary or 2 tbsp mixed dried herbs Fresh leaves, such as rocket, lamb’s lettuce and watercress

Quinoa

METHOD 1 2

3

Preheat the oven to fan 200°C/ gas mark 7. Lay the roughly chopped vegetables in a single layer on a large roasting tray, sprinkle with salt and pepper and add your dollops of coconut oil. Scatter the herbs over. Roast for 30–40 minutes or until the veg is tender (pierce with a knife to check). Halfway through the

4

roasting time, use a wooden spatula to turn the veg. Meanwhile, make the pesto. Blitz everything together in a food processor or with a hand blender (the more nuts you add, the thicker and creamier your pesto will be, but if you want it thinner, add more oil and lemon juice). Alternatively, grab a sharp knife and finely chop the garlic, basil and nuts, then whisk

with the olive oil and lemon juice. Season to taste. Bring the water to the boil in a pan, add your drained quinoa and cook for 12 minutes. Combine the quinoa and roasted veg in a big serving bowl, toss in the pesto and then the fresh salad leaves. Or, if preferred, serve your fresh salad leaves on the side, with a little lemon juice and olive oil.

250ml water 250g quinoa (activated overnight)

Brazil nut pesto

12 Brazil nuts 2 garlic cloves 3 large handfuls of fresh basil (stalks and all if you’re using a strong blender) 300ml extra virgin olive oil 4 tbsp lemon juice or 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar Sea salt and black pepper

WE LOV E

NOBLE As the weather turns chilly (and inspired by all those catwalk physiques), we’re eschewing our usual hot chocs for these plant-based latte blends, available in five flavours, packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, vegan protein and fibre. We think they’re all delicious but the Himalayan Salted Cacao is especially divine. £29. Available exclusively from Harvey Nichols and online at harveynichols.com

DIOR SUITE St. Regis New York, New York Having once hosted Marilyn Monroe, it goes without saying that timeless glamour is part and parcel of this hotel. The finest rooms on offer are the designer suites and our favourite is the Dior. A little piece of Paris in the Big Apple, it is inspired by the French fashion house’s chic ateliers and decked out in a glamorous palette of warm greys, subtle pinks and soft whites. And the view of Central Park is simply the best. (stregisnewyork.com)

Burj and the beach Heading to Dubai but torn between the choice of high-rise hospitality and beachside break? A new collaboration means you no longer have to compromise. The fashionable Armani Hotel, located in the towering Burj Khalifa, offers the city’s best skyline views, coupled with the elegant sophistication that comes part and parcel with Giorgio Armani’s signature design style. Not quite so lofty, but no less luxurious, the stylish Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Dubai also boasts a view to die for, located on a private stretch of beach on the Pearl Jumeirah peninsula, looking out over the stunning

The two hotels have formed an exclusive partnership, offering guests at the Armani Hotel complimentary beach and pool access, 20 per cent off dining at Café Nikki and Key West and complimentary return transfers between the hotel and the beach club. GRAND PIANO SUITE Claridge’s, London We love every iconic inch of Claridge’s but our favourite spot has to be the glorious two-bedroom Grand Piano Suite, designed by Diane Von Furstenberg. Decked out in dramatic monochrome paired with contemporary clashing DVF animal prints and accessorised with glittering chandeliers and personal travel photographs taken by Diane herself, it even includes a baby grand piano and comes with its own butler. Darren Marlow, head concierge at the May Fair Hotel – the official hotel of London Fashion Week – reveals his London style secrets The Capital’s sartorial elegance is always apparent, never more so than during Fashion Week. Mayfair is home to some of the most exclusive shopping streets – Dover Street Market is a Mecca for amazing one-offs; for those who love luxury, the Louis Vuitton Maison on New Bond Street stocks some of the designer’s rarest pieces; and Browns on South Molton Street never fails to disappoint even the choosiest shopper. But there’s no point dressing the part if your hair lets you down, which is where Hiro Miyoshi on Curzon Street comes in. While men looking for perfect grooming and style tips should look no further than Gentleman’s Tonic at Bruton Place. If you want to look at beautiful things, then Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac at Ely House should definitely be on your list, along with Dadiani Fine Art on Cork Street, if you would like to pay with Bitcoin. GREENER LIVING IN NW9 Colindale Gardens is a major £1 billion development coming to north west London, with an ambitious construction programme stretching over the next twelve years. September sees the launch of The Orchard Quarter

Set to provide much-needed homes for the Capital’s families, first-time buyers and young professionals alike,

the development, which spans an impressive 49 acres, is transforming the disused 1960s tower blocks and surrounding land once known as the Peel Centre – the former Metropolitan Police training college – into a vibrant new community. Once completed, this mixed-use project will comprise a whopping 2,900 one-, two-, three-, and fourbed homes, nine acres of public green space, a shopping plaza and a school. The Orchard Quarter will be the last collection to face the development’s four-acre park. Already boasting greenery aplenty, these luxury living spaces – a full range of apartments, from studios up to four-bed duplexes – will also provide private outdoor space and landscaped podium gardens. Not only that, but Colindale’s littlest residents can enjoy outdoor time in the shape of a nearby woodland play area, not to mention the nine acres of manicured gardens to run around in. For grown-up leisure time, a residents-only gym can be found at next door’s Park Collection, which includes a

24-hour concierge service. All of this is set to complete by autumn 2019. Excitingly, Colindale has been designated a Housing Growth Zone by the Mayor of London, and this ambitious new development will complement the £4 billion investment in the regeneration of the Brent Cross and Cricklewood areas. The overall philosophy set out by leading developer Redrow, is to create a thriving and vibrant new community designed for freedom and convenience, offering something for every demographic, at every stage of life, encompassing the perfect combination of local amenities and parkland.

Retail and commercial space is also proposed – 100,000 sq ft, in fact, allowing residents and locals to shop, eat, work and relax here. Meanwhile, a new primary school will provide places for 600 pupils and will benefit from sports fields and open spaces, capturing the ethos of Colindale Gardens, with community as its central focus. The development is set to offer a variety of tenures that are not only affordable for first-time buyers keen to get on the property ladder, but also for those not yet in a position to purchase, but who want to live in a thriving community with easy access to central

London. Colindale Gardens boasts unrivalled transport links, with direct 24-hour access at weekends to King’s Cross, Tottenham Court Road, Charing Cross and Waterloo, via the Northern line service from Colindale, conveniently located adjacent to the development. Redrow is also investing £11 million into transport around the new homes, which will include enhancements to Colindale station as well as local bus routes. Designed to encourage residents to take advantage of its picturesque surroundings, Colindale Gardens will feature cycle paths and walkways linked to the wider area. Fitness trails will run throughout the development, complemented by an outdoor gym, inspiring a healthy, active lifestyle for residents young and old. To find out more, see colindalegardens.com

Arabian nights

As Dubai’s scorching summer heat begins to cool, a short break presents an opportunity to discover the soul beneath the glitz of the UAE’s biggest metropolis WOR DS B E C KY P O M FRE T

Above: at night, Dubai’s cityscape shines bright Right: you don’t have to travel far to discover stunning natural scenery – a sharp contrast to the man-made metropolis

FABRICMAGAZINE.CO.UK

I’ll confess that, with its bonkers buildings and sprawling mega malls, I had Dubai down as a fashion-obsessed, man-made Mecca – a hedonist’s playground. And while I’m not averse to a spot of indulgence, I like culture, scenery, adventure and history, too. My travelling companion assures me that there is all this, and more – a veritable Arabian wonderland, in fact. I’m not immediately convinced. Arriving for the first time is like stepping onto a futuristic film set; it is every bit the ‘Tomorrowland’ of audacious architecture and impossible glitz that I had imagined. With towering new hotels cropping up all the time (during the height of the property boom, Dubai was home to a quarter of the world’s cranes), there’s no shortage of

places to stay. We’re headed for the JA Ocean View Hotel, boasting, yup, you guessed it, sublime views of the Arabian Gulf. Fresh from an overnight flight, after checking into our luxurious room we’ve a mind for just two things: breakfast, followed by chill-out time in the spa. Neither disappoints and a masterful Swedish massage proves a brutal yet brilliant antidote to planeinduced tension. After taking some time out in the steam room I’m ready for my Dubai debut. Being smack bang in the middle of Dubai Marina (the world’s biggest, naturally), we don’t have to go far to discover some of the city’s best shopping. The Walk is a fashionista’s paradise – it’s a mile-long strip of more than 300 retailers, eateries and gyms, and its pavement cafés are the perfect vantage point from which to watch the beautiful people. All well and good, but so far, so predictable… We’re headed out of town, though, and I’ve a treat in store. Part of the JA group, set in a staggering 37 million square feet of natural sand dunes, the Al Sahra Desert Resort Equestrian Centre is just half an hour outside the city. Along with stunning scenery, it promises guests the taste of Arabian heritage that I’ve been looking for. We’re shown through stables that house breathtakingly beautiful Arabian horses, but our steeds for today are an altogether different breed: known

TRAVEL REVIEW JA Resorts’ luxury hotels provide the perfect base for discovering all aspects of Dubai

as the ships of the desert, because of their ability to transport passengers safely around, camels look scarily big in real life (we’re in Dubai, I don’t know why I’m surprised). Their ungainly gait takes some getting used to, not least because we are seated two to a camel. We spend 40 minutes exploring the dunes, before happily dismounting to stagger cowboy-like to a pop-up sitting room in the sand. Stretched out on sofas and rugs, with glasses of bubbles in hand, we watch the sun set, snapping hundreds of photos of our camel chums silhouetted in the gorgeous glow. There are more surprises in store at the JA Hatta Fort Hotel. Just an hour’s drive from the futuristic high-rises of Dubai, through undulating desert dunes, we come to the majestic Hajar mountains, where we discover a pretty low-rise hotel. Recently refurbished, the stylish interiors mix traditional and modern with great aplomb. Our bedroom is stunning, with a big stone feature wall, enormous bed and private balcony. In stark contrast to Dubai’s mega scale, the hotel is small enough to feel cosy and personal, but with service to match the city’s hospitality giants. Later, we have lunch at the pool-side restaurant, tucking into the “best steak sandwich in the world” – my own accolade, but not awarded lightly. We’ve just returned from a mountain biking session and there’s nothing like a treacherous ride to whet the appetite (we took the easiest route on offer, I’m just not built for anything remotely athletic). One activity I do get on board with, though, is kayaking. A short drive from the hotel is the Hatta Dam. We spend a very happy hour paddling around in its calm turquoise water,

admiring the dramatic mountain scenery and giving our arms a good workout. Back at the hotel, we park ourselves on comfortable loungers by one of the two inviting pools, accompanied by Charlie the peacock (one of the hotel’s many friendly animal residents). There’s never a dull moment here, with opportunities to feed deer, as well as try out air rifle shooting and archery (deer not involved!); nothing quite tops our last night in the UAE though, during which we are treated to a truly unforgettable experience. On the grounds of the hotel there is a glamping area, where, beside a massive fire pit, we drink cocktails, eat barbecued food and then giggle our way through various flavoured shisha pipes. OK, I admit, just this once, to being wrong…

L AY E R E D L O V E Layered Lounge is a new online store supplying home decor products with a strong emphasis on quality, colour and crisp, simplistic styling. The enduring designs are high quality and reasonably priced Having taken a break from their very different career paths to raise their children, Suzy and Lou, whose friendship began at the school gates, had many a conversation about needing a new challenge. “We knew we wanted to start our own business, the question was what to do” says Lou. Having renovated and built various properties between them, interiors seemed a natural fit. They shared a love of interior design and soon found they shared similar tastes, too. “We were both frustrated with the products available to us whilst decorating our own homes,” Suzy explains. “Current high street offerings are fairly priced but so trend-led that they frequently lack quality and longevity. At the high end of the market, you can find superb quality and timeless design, but the price tag can be exorbitant and difficult to justify.” They felt they could help

“We love minimalist interiors with crisp, clean lines, but with five kids and two dogs between us, we wouldn’t want our homes to be designed entirely like that... It’s all about balance” bridge that gap, so one September evening, after a few glasses of wine, they decided to go for it and launch their own company. At the heart of the business is the concept of layering – the process of staging a room by adding items that give it depth, tone and personality – resulting in a look that’s deceptively effortless. And just as you would layer your outfit for comfort and style, so, too, should you consider layering your room. “We love to accent with colour,” says Suzy. “Our style 62 |

is very much a fusion: simple yet sophisticated, practical but also indulgent. We love minimalist interiors with crisp, clean lines, but with five kids and two dogs between us, we wouldn’t want our homes to be designed entirely like that. On the other hand, colour, texture and detailing are important but neither of us likes fussy or overly busy interiors; it’s all about balance.” Ensuring the product range pays attention to current trends but isn’t a slave to them, the

curated collection is based on designs that both Suzy and Lou love. “In fact, if only one of us likes a product, it simply doesn’t make the cut.” Lou tells us. So which products do? “Texture is really important. When perusing new products, we both immediately go to touch them. Size should be taken into consideration, too. Often, less is more and a large feature piece, such as a beautiful lamp, can create a real focal point.” Starting the business has also

enabled Suzy and Lou to give a little back. “We’re very proud to be supporting a local muscular dystrophy charity called Action 4 Archie,” Lou enthuses. “Archie is 12 years old and suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a severe muscle wasting condition. Which services are on offer at Gartner Lewin? Interior design, decoration, interior architecture, bespoke design, project management and client representation. With every project as individual as the client, we believe that all aspects must be carefully managed and planned and our customised range of services seamlessly take the client from concept through to completion. Our little black book enables us to collaborate with the right specialist and have the right expertise available, no matter the project size.

What can we expect from a Gartner Lewin designed home? High quality, flow, functionality and an element of luxury. We seek to elevate the importance of the building, whilst considering the specific individual lifestyle of the client, which means addressing practicality and functionality. My vision for each client is never the same as the last, or the next. Individuality within personal spaces is imperative for identity. The result is an interior that tells a story and most importantly, reflects the client’s footprint in life. A successful interior should enhance, not dictate, the way you live.

How do you work with clients to realise their dream home? It’s a personal undertaking, which is why we offer an initial complimentary consultation, giving us the opportunity to see the property, establish the client’s style, and ask all the right questions. We follow this up with a customised proposal, addressing all aspects of the design process from the initial brief, to timeframes and costs. Our studio works to RIBA stages of work, ensuring our clients are kept updated throughout. These meetings generate discussions, enabling us to refine our work to meet their desires, whilst using our expertise and knowledge to guide them. And with many of our clients based abroad we can accommodate their busy schedules with Skype meetings, regular reports, and overseas travel to help make the experience an exciting and enjoyable one. Do you have a particular in-house style? As a design studio we have an appreciation for many styles, eras and cultures in design, so we don’t have an in-house style per se – that’s one reason why I’ve worked with some clients on multiple homes. I like to create timeless and elegant spaces that tell a story. Most of the properties we work with lend themselves to a classic contemporary style

with an eclectic twist that can be imagined in many different forms. We always strive to bring out the uniqueness within our clients’ style to ensure it’s personal and specific to them. Often this inspiration comes from objects and artworks. How does a property’s architectural style influence a Gartner Lewin interior? With our two hats – interior architecture and interior design – the architectural style and environment of a building really speaks to us. Our portfolio comprises a spectrum of styles from Grade I listed properties in Regent’s Park to minimalist beachside villas in exotic destinations. The secret to our success in creating such a variety of projects stems from our appreciation of varying architectural styles. Understanding the constraints of the light, proportion of space, and flow allows us to maximise on the potential of a property, whilst being mindful of designing for 21st century living needs.

from your home? – our five fundamentals. Building a picture of our clients in this way ensures that ‘they’ are translated into the spatial design of their home. The decoration then gives the finishing touches that reflect the client’s footprint of life. What are you working on at the moment? Any exciting projects coming up? We’re currently working on some great projects – a 6,000 sq ft family home in Marylebone and several investment properties in Regent’s Park. Over the years we’ve found ourselves working more and more

on listed buildings for our clients who wish to transform them into their dream homes for all their aesthetic beauty, whilst supporting a lifestyle of 21st century needs. Having the opportunity to work on projects such as these is always an exciting challenge. We succeed in achieving our client’s brief and adding value to the properties through careful planning, and working closely with bodies such as English Heritage, The Crown Estate, local planning departments and conservation specialists within different boroughs.

How do you capture the personality of a client within your work? We understand our clients by determining their lifestyle choices and really asking: Who are you? What are your needs? How do you live? Why did you choose this property? And what do you want FABRICMAGAZINE.CO.UK

How did you improve the space structurally? It was a total renovation. The ceilings and most of the walls had to be replaced. The old kitchen is now a bedroom, this was openplan with the room next door which is now also a bedroom. The first floor originally had three bedrooms and a corridor, it has been opened up into two spacious rooms with dividing doors, so it is really one big space. I also added stairs, converted the attic and put in a shower room under the stairs where water cupboards used to be.

Bought as a doer-upper, Abigail’s three-storey Victorian apartment, which she shares with her whippet Claude, proved to be a labour of love

What was the appeal of buying a doer-upper? I had no idea how much work was involved and it took me about five years to do up the flat, as and when I had money to pay the builders. I was very naïve, which was actually a blessing – I wouldn’t have taken it on if I’d realised how long it would take. But when I first looked around, I could see the sun shining in the large windows and there was a lovely feeling of space. If I’d bought somewhere that didn’t need work I wouldn’t have been able to afford anything much bigger than the one-bedroom flat I was living in at the time. What did you learn from the process? That next time I should plan the entire renovation from the beginning. I wasted time and money turning the original bathroom into a little studio and then later changed it back when I decided to convert the attic. It didn’t occur to me at the time that the attic would be something I could afford to do.

WO R DS A LI H OWARD P H OTO G R AP H Y ALUN C ALLE ND ER

Tell me about the decision to create an at-home studio. I find it easier to shut off now that the studio’s in the attic. Once I’ve come down the stairs, it’s quite an effort to walk up three flights to go back in there! It works really well for me; I get up really early so I can process orders in the morning before heading off to a shoot, which would be difficult if my studio wasn’t at home. And, as it’s so high up, it’s really peaceful and the sun shines through the skylights. I’m in the zone as soon as I’m in there.

“I inherited a glass-fronted Art Nouveau cupboard from my grandmother (made by her brother), which I always loved when it was in her home.”

How would you describe your interiors style? It’s a mix. I grew up in the countryside and I think this has made me more comfortable with natural, raw materials such as wood, concrete and brick. I like interiors to feel a little unfinished and draughty. I don’t like anything too finished or over designed. Where do you source your furniture? I’ve bought things over the years. When I was renovating, any money I had was going on builders, so the Edwardian mantelpiece and Victorian double doors were from eBay and painted by me. The ’50s Danish sofa was another eBay find, which I had upholstered in one of my fabrics. Quite a few things were my grandmother’s. The Ercol table was from Camden Passage market. I also bought a lot from salvage yards and vintage shops. Tell me about your shopping habits. I’m not an impulse buyer at all. I tend to get rid of things and don’t usually buy new. I hate clutter. I see so many new things in my job as a stylist that it’s very hard to make a decision and I usually end up buying something old. Which interiors brands are your favourites? I love Piglet, a new company that does really relaxed linen bedding in very soft subtle colours. Also MUCK Ceramics – beautifully simple

pots that stylist Rebecca Hernandez makes in Hackney, and I also love the classics like Ercol and Hans J. Wegner. And what’s your best-loved piece of furniture? I inherited a glass-fronted Art Nouveau cupboard from my grandmother (made by her brother), which I always loved when it was in her home. I keep my shoes in it, in my bedroom, which I am not sure she’d approve of, but I love it! What attracted you to working with wallpaper and fabrics? I carried on drawing and making little illustrations after art school in my spare time and one of them turned into a pattern. Then, I was working full-time as an interiors stylist so everything I did related to interiors and I thought the pattern would work better on a wall. It continued from there. I didn’t really plan for it to turn into a business, it’s been a very natural progression. And what are you working on at the moment? I’m launching a new range of cushions this month at the London Design Fair, and I’m collaborating with MUCK Ceramics on some limited-edition hand-made and hand-decorated pots, which I’m very excited about. I’m also working on a book about pattern – it will be my first book, so I’m a little nervous, but I can’t wait to get started. (abigailedwards.com) 70 |

W E LCO M E TO “ T H E WO O D ” Dean Whitley, of Winkworth St. John’s Wood, thinks it’s a great time to move to the area

Q. What’s the appeal of living in St. John’s Wood? A. It’s one of London’s finest central villages. Home to Lord’s cricket ground and the iconic Abbey Road studios, “The Wood”, with its quiet and relaxed atmosphere, is often described as the first suburb of central London. Superbly located just north of Regent’s Park, it’s served by the Jubilee line underground station, which provides direct access to the West End and Canary Wharf, with numerous bus routes and excellent road and rail links. Its thriving high street is home to a delightful selection of restaurants and pavement cafés, giving the area a truly cosmopolitan and luxurious feel. Q. What type of residential property is on offer? A. Originally owned by the

money compared to its neighbours in Marylebone, Mayfair and Kensington. For such a fantastic location it’s still possible to buy a one-bed apartment from around £550,000 to £600,000, or a luxury apartment or comfortable family home located on one of the more desirable residential roads, for upwards of £2 million.

Knights of St. John, the area was developed from the early 19th century onwards, but much of the property we see today was constructed from the turn of the 20th century through to the 1940s, leaving a legacy of superb, varied and highly desirable houses and flats. Arranged mainly to the east and west of Finchley Road, its wide, tree-lined streets are home to various types of property, from

low-built villas to contemporary townhouses to traditional portered purpose-built blocks to the more recent ultra-modern luxury apartments. Q. What can buyers expect to pay? A. Prices vary enormously due to St. John’s Wood’s eclectic mix of property and, perhaps surprisingly, the area still offers good value for

Q. Are there a good range of properties available in such a desirable neighbourhood? A. Having the largest property registers in “The Wood”, we have an excellent stock of good quality and desirable homes for sale and to rent. And with favourable exchange rates, for our international buyers, now would be a very good time to make a move to St. Johns Wood – you won’t be disappointed! (winkworth.co.uk)

ACC E S S A L L A R E A S

ST. JOHN’S WOOD When development of St. John’s Wood started in the 1840s, the Eyre family, who then owned much of the land, envisaged an Arcadian suburb within walking distance of Regent’s Park. Their vision was realised: just two tube stops on from Bond Street, you couldn’t hope to be better placed, and the elegant housing stock here is in constant demand. One of the first urban areas to abandon the terraced house in favour of the detached villa, St. John’s Wood’s stucco mansions command some of the Capital’s highest prices, with buyers attracted to the sophisticated high street, too. Local crowds are swollen with tourists who flock both to that zebra crossing – immortalised by The Beatles, and to Lord’s Cricket Ground. You could say it’s got the winning formula PHOTO G R A P H Y KAT HY ANNE LIM

Something on the side? Any ideas why St. John’s Wood was particularly popular with certain Victorian gentlemen? Nope, not the musical scene… that didn’t take off until sometime in the next century. And while cricket might have held appeal for said gents, it wasn’t the sporting facilities at Lord’s, either. No, it’s said

that they favoured the neighbourhood as a discreet place to keep their mistresses. Close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away from their respectable homes in Mayfair and Knightsbridge to avoid suspicion. It’s known that the exiled Napoleon III put his lover Harriet Howard up at an address in Circus Road.

LOCAL HEROES ST. JOHN’S WOOD

GAIL’S, NW8 Mark Nash from Sandfords nominates Gail’s as his local hero. It may be off the High Street but you won’t need to whip out the GPS to find this tempting artisan bakery, the wafting smell of freshly baked bread will surely guide you there. Passionate about their ever-changing range of seasonal loaves, Gail’s is the place to go to pick up a Bramley apple sourdough, an American pumpernickel or a traditional cholla. And yet it’s not all about the bread: you’ll also find to-die-for pastries, delicious deli-style savoury bites and some top-notch Italian-style coffee to wash it all down with. 5 Circus Road, NW8 (020 7722 0983; gailsbread.co.uk) THE IVY CAFÉ, NW8 This café-style British brasserie was welcomed with open arms by St. John’s Wood residents upon its launch last autumn. Those familiar with the original Covent Garden celebrity hotspot – and its subsequent openings – will experience the same crisp white linen, monogrammed tableware and gorgeous deco styling. Not to mention a menu filled with examples of the best feel-good British grub. Mark Pollack from Aston Chase says; “It is a great addition to the High Street… So nice to have a smart and buzzy brasserie in the area, which is equally good for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a short meeting over a coffee.” 120 St. John’s Wood High Street, NW8 (020 3096 9444; theivycafestjohnswood.com) ELIAS, NW8 No ordinary dry cleaners, this St. John’s Wood High Street staple has been caring for residents’ clobber for years and offers a range of specialist services including bridal wear and upholstery cleaning and tailoring. Guy Fisher from Arlington Residential is one suited and booted local who relies on Elias, telling us: “I’ve been a customer for many years. The staff are always friendly and courteous and the service, most importantly, is excellent. I even needed a couple of suits collected and delivered back to me and it wasn’t a problem. If you’re looking for a really good dry cleaners, look no further.” 68 St. John’s Wood High Street, NW8 (020 3535 8899; eliascleaners.co.uk)

It’s safe to say I’ve been a St. John’s Wood addict for 30 years and I’ve had my own boutique here for seven years. We have a wonderful manager, Tamara, who is full of energy and always puts a smile on my face. My perfect day in the area starts off with taking my daughter to Tiddlywinks, the best children’s shop in London. Maureen’s personal service is superb. I’d then head to Delisserie for one of their amazing smoothies, before popping into Square One, an independent luxury fashion boutique. James, the manager’s son knows exactly what I love to treat myself to. Next stop… Starbucks! I just can’t resist their coffee and SJW’s branch is my absolute favourite. A L L - R O U N D E D U C AT I O N Setting high educational standards as well as being deeply focused on nurturing the individual, it’s little wonder girls thrive at St. Anthony’s

St. Anthony’s School for Girls offers a Catholic environment that is both academic and caring, and is welcoming of all faiths. Educating girls aged four to 11, the school is proud of its nurturing family philosophy, as well as its outstanding quality of education. By learning in a setting where they feel safe, secure and valued, pupils at St. Anthony’s flourish academically and go on to make positive contributions to society through their intellect, as well as their moral and spiritual beliefs. The curriculum combines traditional methods with current pedagogical research and advances in technology. Maths, for example, is taught through the Singapore maths approach, using the Inspire Maths scheme, which provides a highly scaffolded learning framework with problem solving at its heart. The programme focuses on the development of intellectual competence, such as the ability to visualise new and challenging mathematical concepts. Furthermore, an individualised learning programme prepares each pupil with the academic ability, social awareness, confidence and self-motivation required for a natural transition to senior school. The girls benefit from single-sex education, alongside the advantages that co-educational activities can provide, with close links to St. Anthony’s Boys and other schools, sharing sporting events, assemblies 76 |

and even Reception class ‘play dates’. As a London school, St. Anthony’s takes full advantage of the wide range of attractions the Capital has to offer, including visits to museums, galleries and theatres. Since its opening in September 2016, pupils have made headlines locally for participating in a Reading Marathon – a whole day of reading for National Storytelling Week; they have had their artwork displayed in Waterstones Finchley Road; and have also taken lessons as diverse as robotics and mindfulness. Extra-curricular

activities here include ballet, choir, music, gardening, coding and gymnastics. Located in the leafy surrounds of Ivy House, St. Anthony’s School for Girls is a magnificent three-storey building with a beautiful façade. The building covers an area of 12,000 sq ft and has undergone a full programme of refurbishment to create the very best teaching space, incorporating 14 classrooms, a specialist science room and a multipurpose hall for dining, assemblies, gymnastics and other activities. Situated, as they are, next to the magnificent Golders Hill Park, pupils enjoy excellent outdoor facilities with opportunities for rich learning experiences through the use of the park’s ponds, ‘stumpery’, butterfly house and zoo. This outdoors focus extends to the school’s garden, which is designed to encourage the growth of wildlife habitats. Scholarships are available for entry in September 2018. Schools Making big school less of a big deal

Still, there’s plenty you can to do to ease the transition. Lisa has these tips: 1. Be positive. By this age, children are aware of what others think. Making it clear that the school they’ve got into is secondrate can be very damaging – especially if they didn’t pass the exam for the number one choice. Focus on what’s great about where they’re going.

THE SHORTLIST

2. Talk through any specific anxieties. If your child is nervous about travelling on their own, you could arrange for them to go with a buddy and do some dry runs. Or if they’re worried about learning a language for the first time, you could learn a few words together in advance. 3. Prepare your child for the change in environment: read all the materials the school gives you to make sure your child arrives appropriately equipped. You don’t want them to stand out or get into trouble. 4. Don’t rush to act if your child is miserable. It’s perfectly normal for a child to be anxious or unhappy for the first term and a half – they’re going through a period of change and lots of new demands are being made. Keep reassuring them it’s going to be fine and trust that they’ll cope. attheschoolgates.co.uk

THE HEAD

DIMITRA LOUSKAS ST. JOHN’S WOOD PRE-PREPARATORY SCHOOL How would you sum up the school in a sentence? We’re like the slightly eccentric relative you love hanging out with: one who drives an old banger but takes you to the coolest places, always packs a picnic and lets you climb trees. Okay, that was two sentences – sometimes we break the rules!

How do you make sure pupils realise their academic potential? Classes are small, so pupils experience a high level of individual attention. We also monitor academic progress, through ongoing assessments, and tailor individual learning plans to reinforce, practise and challenge.

What about the wellbeing of your pupils? Our ethos – to guide and support each individual in a safe and nurturing environment – is woven into everything we do. An example would be our lunches: we provide freshly cooked, healthy lunches that staff and children enjoy together as a “family”.

What advice would you give to parents looking for a school? Always visit on a normal day. On a tour, focus on observing the children: do they look happy? And trust your instincts. What did it feel like being there? Words: Claire Atherton

If your child is starting secondary school this month, a little anxiety is normal – for you as well as for them. “A lot of people feel that secondary school is going to define their child’s life because the qualifications they get there are so significant,” says Lisa Freedman, parent, education consultant and managing director of At The School Gates. “This creates anxiety, especially in London where there’s a restricted supply of places.” For children, the school transition often means moving from a small, protected environment into a huge, alien one, so it’s not surprising they sometimes get the jitters. Fortunately, schools are very aware that they need to manage the transition carefully. Your child has probably been to a taster day already, for example. And schools often try to put children in a class with others from their primary.

Property news Favourite London street? I adore Upper Street in Islington. Favourite client? An adorable doctor who sold her practice and bought three flats through me. She was a delight to work with. You don’t meet her kind every day. Favourite place to grab a coffee? The Fields Beneath, a gorgeous dairy-free coffee shop on my doorstep in Kentish Town. Where do you go for head space in the city? Period property or new-build? I live in a conversion, which I love, but I do sometimes dream of a new-build. Plus, I work in the Glentree New Homes team, so I’d feel disloyal to my clients if I said otherwise.

I love London because… it’s a melting pot of culture and career, gorgeous green parks, the best restaurants and bars. Whatever scene you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.

Take one person, dead, alive or fictional, out in London – who and where? I like to be entertained at all times, laughter being the best form of medicine, so I’d have to go with Michael McIntyre. I know he’s married, so we’d keep it platonic.

GLENTREE

First London home? I was lucky enough to grow up in Hampstead Garden Suburb, opposite the Heath extension. I now live in a converted school in Kentish Town, which I adore.

Aliens attack – which London landmark would you save? Let’s save the Houses of Parliament – perhaps they’ll know how to handle the situation, and the building is terribly pretty.

If I wasn’t an estate agent I’d be… a fitness studio owner – my true passion. I’d love to create a yoga-meets-HIIT concept.

Creature comfort? I am a pro at getting comfortable. My ultimate comfort is being tucked up with a box set and maybe some take-away.

Having recently held an exhibition of works at Tom Conti’s NW3 abode, the successful estate agent has held a deep-rooted passion for visual art since a very young age and today he continues to sketch when he’s not negotiating top property deals. He reveals: “I do not profess in any way to be a serious artist, just someone who likes to express himself artistically by using a pencil, a biro or occasionally a black felt pen.” He’s hoping his works – whose influences span architecture, film, literature and history – will go some way to dispel the stereotypes that often go hand-in-hand with his “proper job”. The difference between them and us, is us. With an eager buyer wanting a viewing and our client’s dog home alone, man’s best friend became Hamptons’ best friend. Coming in on their day off, one of our team volunteered to look after Rover while their colleague took the buyers around.
