Foscarini Introduces Wave and Flap October 29, 2009 Foscarini introduces two light fixtures, Wave and Flap, each of a highly graphic nature that can function as both sources of illumination and points of interest in the home, office or restaurant. These two fixtures also lend themselves to imaginative use in multiples to augment their visual effect.

Foscarini: Wave Wave, by Studio Baruffi & De Santi, hangs as a flowing element, singly or in multiples, from ceiling or against the wall. It is made of extruded aluminum with an elliptical cross section that diffuses light upwards. Light is also projected into the surrounding space through lateral reveals. Finishes are black, white or aluminum; dimensions 88 1/32” long; lamp: halogen, 4×100W.

Foscarini: Flap Flap, by Marco Zito with its irregular geometric shapes and interplay of light and shade, floats above the wall like a piece of abstract art. A careful study using two planes of slightly bent, overlaid metal creates the effect of multiple levels of light when illuminated. This strikingly simple idea results in complex patterns on both the wall and the fixture, compounded by using Flap in multiples. Lamping: 2 x 18W fluorescent for energy efficiency. Material: Lacquered aluminum in solid white or “Lines”, a fabric-like abstract texture. Foscarini is available through lighting and design distributors throughout the US.
