VENICE
A Beautiful City Surrounded by Water
Venice is an enchanting, romantic city that is built on more than 100 small islands. Its stunning! with an undercurrent of mystery and drama, and while the Venice Carnival is only once a year, its mood is present year-round. At the Grand Canal you’ll see a hive of activity, with gondoliers serenading the passengers in their boats and water buses on hand to transfer you to the other side. Along the winding streets, you’ll find stylish cafés and gelaterias, souvenir shops and small businesses as well as Renaissance palaces and Gothic churches. After you’ve climbed St. Mark’s Campanile and visited the Gallerie dell Accademia, stroll through the surrounding neighbourhoods, where locals eat cicchetti and drink their vino in unfussy bars and restaurants.
Venice is a great year-round destination. From April to October, daytime temperatures average above sixteen degrees Celsius, with the highest temperatures in July and August, when it can reach thirty degrees Celsius. But, don’t worry there’s a lovely breeze that sweeps inland from the sea to keep you cool during these hotter months.
On a summer day you can expect it to cool down in the evening and in the spring and autumn the temperature can even drop below 10 degrees Celsius at night. A warm cardigan or good jacket is a must when packing to go out in the evenings.
