Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades, legacies of the city’s 17thcentury Golden Age. Its Museum District houses the Van Gogh Museum, works by Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, and modern art at the Stedelijk. Cycling is key to the city’s character, and there are numerous bike paths.

• Visit the Anne Frank House

• Take a canal tour – the best way to view the city!

• Head to A’dam Toren, for amazing views in the Skybar, or take a ride on Europe’s highest swing “Over the Edge”

• Venture further afield to Kuekenhof – especially in the spring

• Try some Bitterballen

• Visit a café and try the Stroopwafel

• Amsterdam has some incredible museums, which are all pretty close together - so you could even visit them all in one day
