SUMMER READING CHALLENGE


BOOK TITLE:

TASK 1:

YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO! Choose any fiction book you have at home. Read the whole book. Make a poster to persuade people to read the book.



TASK 2: HEADS UP SPORTS FANS

Find out about an olympic sports event in the news. You can watch news round, read a newspaper or look on the internet. Choose a headline for the event and then draw a picture to explain what happened.

TASK 3: SNAP SNAP!

When you are out and about during the holidays, photograph yourself reading something helpful. For example, a map or place guide, information board, bus timetable, road sign, menu board, shop sign and food labels.

TASK 4:

READY, STEADY, SHOP! Get a toy catalogue from Argos, Toysrus or the Early Learning Centre. ( If you are stuck, you can always look on their websites.)

What 3 toys would you buy if you had enough money? List the names of the toys and how much they cost.

TASK 5:

ROTTEN TOMATOES Watch a film on a DVD or at the cinema. Imagine you are a film critic and write a review of the film. Things to think about: Plot: What happened? Characters: Were they good or bad? Who was your favourite? Would you recommend it to other viewers?



TASK 6: FOLLOW THE LEADER

Choose an instruction text to read for example a recipe, game instructions or a craft activity. Follow the instructions to make the item. Draw a picture or take a photograph of what you make. If you can, bring it into school in September.
