Stop, Look, and Listen Before You Get Your Loan

I recently received a call from a member looking to refinance the auto loan they had just opened with a dealership. However, they were confused about how much they actually owed on the vehicle. With trade allowance and money down taken into consideration, the member believed they should have been paying around $12,000. But the auto loan payoff was around $17,000, instead.

A er reviewing the paperwork, I realized the price difference was due to several extras that were added while finalizing the deal. The member knew of these extras, and agreed to them, but was not aware of the cost that came with them. Which leads me to my main advice for the month – look, listen, and ask questions. And, as always, call Fox first. We’ll help you set a budget and find the vehicle you want within it.

Our Fraud Expert, Heidi Kiecker, shares a positive ending to a scam incident.

In May, we had a member fall for a PayPal spoofing and refund scam. Thankfully, the member discussed what was going on with their kids, who informed the member it sounded like a scam they had heard about.

Because the member then took quick action by calling us, we were able to freeze their accounts and learn their personal device was compromised. The member was able to get their device cleared and, although not guaranteed, they were also able to get their wired funds reversed back to them.
