The City Beat is an ongoing series, intended to keep DeCordova residents informed regarding what is happening in the community from the perspective of the mayor and city council.

We would like to give you an update on new city council business.

The first thing we would like to announce is the signing of a contract with the DeCordova board of directors for office space. This will give us for the first time in our city’s history the ability to have an office for our files, a workspace and a mailing address for our mayor and city council.

Our DeCordova community is unique. We have various kinds and styles of homes for everyone’s taste. We have numerous amenities to enjoy, and it is everyone’s responsibility to keep

them and our community clean and beautiful. Please take the time to thank the three ladies, Estella Martinez, Esperanza and Gloria Trujillo, that you may see every day in their slowmoving golf cart, picking up after us.

We are working with United Electric Co-Op on a larger project to further enhance the aesthetics of our community. It involves the burial of power lines and clearing away the old unused lines. This will be a long-term project but well worth the effort.

The Council is working with the owners’ association on placing more speed bumps in key locations to help make our roads safer. With so many people walking on our narrow streets, it is imperative to keep vehicles driving at a safe speed, so no one gets hurt.
