Meet the 2023

Antwain Jimmerson In April 2015, Jefferson alum Antwain Jimmerson was named the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director of Jefferson ISD. Jimmerson quarterbacked the defense at Jefferson High School as a football player, leading the Bulldogs to the 1986 Class AAA State Championship. Antwain earned an athletic scholarship to play football at the University of Tulsa where he was very successful by playing in two bowl games. After college, he joined the coaching ranks as an assistant coach. At Jenks High School, he was a part of four state champion teams. Following that, he became athletic director and head football coach for Booker T. Washington High where he won a state championship in 2008, and then an assistant football coach at Irving High School. Coach Jimmerson is now entering his seventh year at Jefferson. Number of Years Coaching: 30 years. Career Head Coaching Record: 150-52. Record at Jefferson: 40-27. College: Bachelor’s degree from University of Tulsa. Family: Married to Marqua, 5 children: Martin, Jamilla, Antwain Jr., Rico and Alan. Biggest Influence in My Life: My Mother – Eva Nell Jimmerson. My name is Stephen Young. I am a Jefferson alum and joined the coaching staff in June 2015 as the Defensive Coordinator. I played defensive line at Jefferson High School and earned an athletic scholarship to play football at Texas A&M University where I played in four bowl games- Sugar Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Alamo Bowl and Independent Bowl. After college, I had an opportunity to play with the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad but ended with an injury. Later, I played in the Arena League and the European League where I also served as the Defensive Line coach. As a high school coach, I served as an assistant coach at Bandera High before making the move to Jefferson. My children are Stephen Jr., SeMiracle, S’Josiah and the newest member of the family Phoenix with my wife Falon. My biggest influence is my mother Evelyn Gray. My favorite quote is “To whom much is given, much is required.”― Luke 12:48.

“My name is Devin Mathis. A Jefferson alum class of 2016 and also a University of Texas at Tyler graduate of fall 2019. Entering my 3rd year at Jefferson & 4th overall as a Teacher/ Coach. I will be serving as the varsity cornerbacks coach & also jr. high boys coordinator. Teaching middle school PE & coaching football, basketball, and track. I’m happy & excited about the upcoming school year. Go Bulldogs!!

“My name is Joseph Schumpert. I am the World Geography here at Jefferson High School and will also be assistant coach to varsity football, basketball and baseball teams. I am from Marshall but moved to Jefferson in 5th grade and got the pleasure to graduate with some great individuals in the class of 2007! After high school I played football at Kilgore Community College and earned my Associate’s degree in 2009, then transferred to Angelo State University and received my Bachelor’s degree in 2012. This will be my sixth-year teaching/coaching and my second year at Jefferson. Excited to be back in the community and blessed to be given the opportunity to be a bulldog again!”

“My name is Steven Randolph. I served in the U.S. Army from 19921996. I later graduated from Texas Tech University in 2005. I have been teaching and coaching for 19 years. This is my 9th year at Jefferson High School where I teach U.S. History and coaching football, basketball and serve as the head girls’ track coach. Married to Coach Misty Randolph. I have five daughters— McKenna (18), Rheagan (13), Charlotte (7), Jordan (4), and Rocklynn (1).”

“My name is Adam DuBose and this will be my 4th year with Jefferson ISD and 12th overall. I will serve as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach. In the spring I will be the head track and golf coach. My wife Brooke is also in education, and a former volleyball coach. We have two children together, Faith (9) and Gracelyn (5). I am originally from Overton, Texas where my father was the head football Coach. I am looking forward to continue building relationships and serving Jefferson ISD.”

“Larry Allen is a P.E. teacher and athletic coach for JJHS. As a graduate of Northwestern State University, his career in education began in 2008 in the Louisiana school system. Larry has remained passionate and pursuant of unearthing the athleticism of young people. He is a native of East Texas and a proud Linden-Kildare High School Alumni. Larry is the father of two amazing daughters, Bry’Lynn and Kayden Allen and is married to his better half, Tressa Allen.

“My name is Chase Jordan and this is my 5th year teaching and coaching, and my 1st here at Jefferson. I graduated from high school at Hallsville in 2009. I then went to play baseball for 3 years at Navarro junior College, and finished up my degree at Lamar University. I am the head boys baseball coach as well as the varsity cornerbacks coach. My wife Lindsay and I have 2 kids. Baylor is our 5 year old daughter, and Cole is our 2 year old son.”

“My name is Steve Ward. I am a1985 graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and History. This is my 19th year in public education and I am currently teaching and coaching at Jefferson Junior High. I am married to Jill Ward who teaches High School English at Big Sandy High School.

Steve Mainord - This is my first year to coach and teach in Jefferson. This is my 42nd year as a coach/teacher. I will be coaching the Offensive Line. My wife Peggy was also an educator for 44 years. I am originally from Greenville and am a graduate of Greenville High School, and East Texas State University (Now A & M Commerce).

My name is Antonio “Pete” Johnson. I am a Jefferson alum, class of 1997. This will be my 8th year in education and my 5th year coaching. This is my 2nd stint at Jefferson ISD, where I will be an Inclusion Teacher and Wide Receivers coach. I will also be coaching Track and Field in the spring. My wife Kirstin is a member of the Jefferson ISD School Board. We have 4 children Peyton (23), Jacob (22), Dayne (17), and Braylen (14).
