BIO-WALKWAY DESIGN
DEVELOPING A WATER TILE The fabrication course starts with a design focusing on water flowing features on a tile unit. The first prototype did not create the desired water effect due to the limitation with the CNC milling machine.
FABRICATION - TILE CONCEPT
BREAKING THE SQUARE TILE The original square tile idea was being challenged. Therefore a more organic approach was explored. As only one module was to be produced, joints and flipping possibilities were adopted for varieties.

DETAIL DESIGN - STREET FURNITURE DESIGN
STREET FURNITURE DESIGN The street furniture project started out as a design project for a 3m x 3m open space. The final design aims at providing an informal waiting space in between the tram stop and Melb. Uni. Design detail focused on the forms & geometries and how the furniture performs at rainy days.

CYCLIST = ENERGY PRORGRAM ANALYSIS Current usage for the Catani Garden was being analyzed as design reference. The park was identified with main commuting activity. Cycling and jogging through the site. Design driver was developed as to preserve this mobile energy.
Let the ENERGY flow through the site.

MERNDA MASTER PLAN The project is a part of the GIS studio to develop a new suburb area in Melbourne. Preliminary GIS studies were made with data provided by data.gov.vic based on current population, proximity to public transport and major roads. Mernda currently has a 6,500 population. The project prepares the suburb with about 15,000 population in the future.
LANDSCAPE PLANNING - MERNDA MASTER PLAN
GIS PLANNING A set of GIS studies have been made to determine the best location for housing developments. Strategies included buffer zones for vegetations or flood prone areas. Viewshed analysis has also been carried out for the visibility of roads, making the neighbourhood legible and important facilities are locarted accordingly.
LANDSCAPE PLANNING - GIS PLANNING
TRAIL PLANNING Based on the existing landform, a trail between Mernda and another suburb was selected as the major attraction for the neighborhood. Local characteristics were recognized, enhanced and utilized in the livelihood. The design was presented as a narrative of what could happen in common weekends.

NARRATIVE DESIGN - LAYERING TECHNIQUE
TIME MUSEUM Narratives are presented by the landscape through layering of the different design elements throughout history. Time and space are continuously presented as the new “museum landscape. One of the major design for the project is the large forum space. It is surrounded by wooden poles which locate time capsules burried by students. They also act as an interactive element which users can draw upon. Through time, trees will overtake these memories and fuse again with nature.

TOKYO OPEN SPACE | THROUGH THE LENS OF A HIKIKOMORI Social problems in Japan have been related to the political nature of open spaces. Parks are related to “officialdom” and urban informality is lost. Through reviewing the political matrix, four different types of open spaces have been suggested as a combination of open space network to help deal with social withdrawals. Open spaces are designed according to specific scenarios and how open space can be used for mutiple purposes. The key is to review parks not as a single entity. But trying to intervene and reviewed as a such that the informalities of urban spaces can be explored much more vastly.

Designing urban space at neighbourhood scale. Even these tiny spaces serve as a linkage corridor for the open space network.

DESIGN THESIS - LINEAR PARK
LINEAR PARK Despite the narrow space, intervention seeks to provide not just urban greenery, it is a resting point for all social walks of life. It is not a particular destination, and no program is required for the daily life commuter to enjoy the amenities, and knowing that it leads to other pockets of spaces.

Site B was the second project I was involved. The URA project has been seperated into three phase: Market Block, Main Block and Fitting-Out. The Market Block was completed in 2017 March for the street market to move back into the neighbourhood. This project also involves government submissions to the Planning Department, which also involves a lot of small detail changes despite the relatively small site. I was involved in the tendering process for main-block, fitting-out and softscape, in which construction should complete in 2018.
