GOD GATHERS HIS PEOPLE The color green marks the sanctuary during the time after Pentecost. This season of the church year is a time where the church focuses on the watchfulness and expectation of the Second Coming of Christ, not so much on feasting (like Christmas and Easter) or penitential reflection (like Advent and Lent). Green symbolizes growth and reminds the church of its mission to share the hope and life of Christ with the world.

*CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 119) Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all day long. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is always with me. I have more understanding than my teachers, for your decrees are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. I do not turn away from your ordinances, for you have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.
*PROCESSIONAL HYMN NO. 32
I Sing the Mighty Power of God
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Mighty God, when I see the problems in the world and hear of dissention, conflict, and disaster, all too often, I despair. My hope fades with every disappointment. My days may begin with optimism, but by the evening, I am low again as though death has gained the final victory. Forgive me Lord. In this silence hear my confession, and change my lamentation to praise, that I might sing of the mighty power of God who made the mountains rise.
KYRIE NO. 551 Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Lord have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Lord, have mercy upon us.
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS Hear the Good News! Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun. Know that we are forgiven, and be at peace. Amen.
*GLORIA NO. 583 Glory to God Glory to God, glory to God, glory in the highest! Glory to God, glory to God, alleluia, alleluia!
RECEIVING NEW MEMBERS (11:00)
*GREETING ONE ANOTHER WITH THE PEACE OF CHRIST Hear the teaching of Christ: I give you a new commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Having received forgiveness and peace from God, let us pass such forgiveness and peace to our neighbors. The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.
