F:DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS The search function on F:Drive for catalogues has been improved. The new search technology will track visitors’ behaviour and click-throughs and continuously “learn” from this activity. This data, combined with keyword analysis, will ensure the most relevant products are returned for a search term, while constantly improving over time. Additional enhancements include auto-complete, search suggestions and dynamic filters. Your feedback shall enable F:Drive to continue as an industry leading e-commerce site. BRAYMANN BRAKING FULLY LAUNCHED Braymann has launched its full braking portfolio with 611 pads and 257 shoes. The range also includes fitting kits, adjusters, wear leads and caliper kits to fulfil all pad and shoe fitting needs. Installers can often be faced with a number of references for any given application, and in some instances this needs to be further broken down by chassis number in order for the customer to correctly identify which part they require. Gas struts often experience daily, repetitive use. They lose their effectiveness over time, leading to poor performance and an eventual failure in their ability to hold the boot or bonnet open. “I DIDN’T KNOW YOU DID THAT!” PRODUCT: VAUXHALL HEATER FAN RESISTORS
RECOMMENDATION Change both the heater fan motor and resistor at the same time. The resistor is likely to last just a few weeks if replaced alone, as the worn out motor will continue to require more power than the resistor can cope with, resulting in recurring failure.
REPLACEMENT Replacing the resistor only takes about 30 minutes, but most garages take 1.5 – 2 hours to replace both the fan and the resistor.
LOCATION Underneath the front passenger glove box.
REASONS FOR FAILURE • C ondensation in the heater fan motor will slowly seize it, putting an extra load on the resistor. As the motor tries to work harder, it requires more power from the resistor, causing failure. • General wear and tear of the motor puts an extra load on the resistor, causing it to blow.
