HOLY TOLEDO BATMAN! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT BATMAN HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LITTLE OVER 75 YEARS? In fact, there have been over 20 movies, 30 TV shows, and 35+ video games featuring Batman. Batman was created in 1939 by artist Bob Kane and Bill Finger. He first appeared in detective comics #27. Batman has captured the hearts of millions around the world and continues to do that to this day. Over the last 75 years, The Dark Knight has changed quite a bit. The hallmarks such as the ears, the Bat Symbol, and the Bat-Mobile are no exception. Let’s begin shall we? Batman: The Movie came out in 1966, the caped crusader wore a dark blue cape with a matching cowl and boots, along with a gray suit and a yellow utility belt. Next on the list is the Batman of 1989. The suit of this era was black with a yellow bat symbol right in the middle of his chest.

Darkness & fear were a common theme through-out the film
It was made of foam rubber making it almost impossible for Michael Keaton to turn his head. This caused him panics attacks due to his Claustrophobia, but that did not stop him! He made it work to his advantage by ripping part of his suit on the neck making his batman performance truly his own. In Batman Returns however, Keaton’s suit changes slightly. The symbol was changed to show more of the iconic DC comic’s emblem. The suit was made of a slimmer foam rubber making it easier for him to move around in. Both movies were executed with brilliance by the “great” Tim Burton. To this day; Michael Keaton is one of the most loved versions of the dark knight. Now we come to Batman and Robin...Continued on page 17.

Homecoming; it is a word that makes you think of cheesy proposals, action packed football games, and soggy hotdogs. This year, the dance team, the band, and of course the football team were all “on point,” and delivered one of the most memorable games in Deer Park history. Here’s how it went down... The week before homecoming everyone wore crazy hats and flooded the school with wild maroon get-ups. As for hoco-proposals; one of the most heartwarming ones this year was the “Charlie Hawthorne-Leah Butler proposal.” Leah, a senior homecoming court representative, who ended up winning the coveted crown and Charlie, a charming and caring young man took the spotlight during halftime. Now, back to the thing everyone got all pumped up about…the game itself. The Deer Park - Baytown game was a action filled game that did not disappoint. Aside from a couple of bad penalties, the boys played extremely well and ended up defeating the Rangers with a 24-12 win. Even a playful dance from, senior, Robby Burk to the song “Jump on it” (pictured below) was preformed during the closing minutes of the game. All said, it was a wonderful end to a great football season. Go Deer! Words By: Cynthia Vasquez Design By: Rebecca Kister Photo By: Evan Triplett

A: What I like most about music is that sometimes I can’t really put what I think into words and how I feel into words, So when I am playing or singing I just get to express that more and it’s just so fun to me. Just that I get to make something my own and do it the way I want to do it.

Anwsers from Picture This...
Unlike the suits of the past, The Bat-Suit here is pretty traditional. Later on in the movie the suit is changed to a more contemporary dark blue version with frost white plated armor. So far all we have left is Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight series. In this version, Christian Bale takes over the hero role in Batman Begins (2005). Here we see a less refined version of the dark knight. The whole movie has a more realistic feel than it’s predecessors and the 2005 Bat-Mobile is a great example of this. For example, unlike the custom cars from the past we see The Dark Knight sporting an adapted ATV military vehicle. Words by: Brandon Moore

...The New Batman The bulky bat you see pictured to the left, will be Warner Brothers newest evolution of The Batman. This updated “dark knight” will be played by Ben Affleck; the star of such film as Daredevil and Armageddon. It will also be making franchise history by merging both the Batman storyline with the Superman franchise.
