Working with an all volunteer crew of twenty-five I�sbians and gay men, most of whom were professional filmmakers, they divided into four q:>ving camera crews. Each crew interviewed a wide variety of people 'at the' gathering site in the morning, along the march route, and finally at the rally in front of the Washington Monument. Throughout the day they continued to document the overall event, as well as shooting "Movie Snapshots" . These snapshots were set up with stationary cameras in "postcard" settings. With backgrounds that clearly establish them in Washington D.C., lesbians and gay men came before the cameras to make their statements to the world, to their parents, to their friends at home. Everyone and anyone was invited in front of the camera to deliver any message they wished. It is t�ese statements, some funny, some poignant, some profound, that open and close the film. They, . more than anything else, capture the humor, the struggles, the depth, the strength and the diversity of gay people in this country.

One of only a handful of feature films about lesbians, this 1979 Dutch production has the tradi. tional, obligatory "tragic ending", however, it delights us with sensu ous photography, a well-drawn les bian character and a minimum of ridiculous lines . True, it is a story of white, upper-class art and theatre devotees who are enticed by the nether world of youth, seduction, fecundity, lesbianism, an9 the lower classes; it still manages to feed our hunger for sor:ne decent and posi tively portrayed lesbian sensuality and sexuality along the way. Bibi Andersson is marvellous as forty year-old Laura-a museum curator, divorced from Anthony Perkins. Director We Were One Man, seen at the Cannes Film Festival and winner of the Silver Hugo Award at the 1980 Chicago Film Festival, is set in France during the autumn of 1943. Guy, a farmer, lives in isolation in the sparsely populated countryside. One day, in the forest, he discovers a wounded German soldier, Rolf; takes him home, nurses him and makes every effort to prevent his return to the army. Rolf, for his part,' is intrigued by Guy and also attracted to him. The affection, we soon find out, is mutual.
