To Whom It May Concern,
Alongside my academic achievements gained during six years of European academic experience, including a Cum Laude graduation from TU Delft, a nomination for the student section of the Dutch Daylight Award, and accreditation of the UWE Future Awards, I bring over three years of diverse international professional experience. I am eager to continue my growth as an Architect and pursue qualification for the Architects Register (BEP) while contributing to an established architectural firm.
My experience spans various roles and project types across award-winning organisations of diverse sizes and based in diverse locations, and it testifies my passion for this profession. From hands-on internships crafting physical models and building temporary shelters with Compressed Earth Blocks. To architect assistant positions managing interns, developing concepts and visuals for tenders, finalising construction drawing sets, and visiting construction sites with contractors and clients. I have sharpened my skills in the different stages of a project, becoming an adaptable and fast learner comfortable with taking on challenges independently while also fostering constructive multidisciplinary collaborations. Additionally, I have challenged myself with working in industries other than architecture, so strengthening my communication and organisational skills and introducing new ideas to my design process. I have recently ventured as freelance designer for small interior renovation projects and explored AI as tool to enhance my design process and broaden my skill set. This endeavour also provided me with the opportunity to self-learn how to manage relationships with contractors.
In my practice, I integrate virtual and analogue approaches to foster a balance between intuition and innovation. Traditional craftsmanship leads to more holistic responses, enhancing three-dimensional and materials behaviours understanding, while modern tools like 3D and AI rationalise the design process and expedite development. My work also reflects a fascination with themes of low-energy construction and circular economy, involving unorthodox natural materials and discarded industrial objects. This results in an innovative, solution-oriented approach to construction, which is pragmatic yet optimistic in designing for the good of our planet. Additionally, I aim to support communities’ needs and nature’s resilience through sensitive dialogue with future stakeholders, as I consider the enthusiastic feedback from locals for an empathic design approach to be one of the most rewarding outcomes in this profession. Accordingly, I strive for refined graphic clarity to enhance each project’s unique character and to help clients envision their future inhabitation in the project’s proposed aesthetics.
Having lived, studied, and worked in the Netherlands for nearly four years, I have expanded my network and understanding of the local working culture. I am committed to continuous learning from my workplace, and I currently study Dutch to further integrate into the local community. As a versatile communicator fluent in four other languages and adept at navigating diverse cultural contexts, I thrive in collaborative environments where different perspectives converge to drive creative solutions. I am eager to join an energetic team where I can contribute my passion for architecture while fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and work-life balance.
Thank you for your time, I welcome the opportunity to discuss further at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Francesca Guarnieri
