Re: Francesca Guarnieri

Francesca Guarnieri was an intern at our studio for about six months, during winter and spring 2020 She started at our physical studio space in New York and then, due to the COVID19 pandemic, moved back to Italy where she continued to work with us remotely. Francesca is a smart, talented and hard-working young architect, who brings a very positive and proactive attitude to the work, greatly contributing to the studio environment.

While with us, Francesca worked on a variety of projects ranging from the construction/pricing drawing set of a prefab-home, to the design for a large temporary exhibition/performance space for a music event in the UK, to the conception and production of a competition entry for a large public space in California. With great visual control, she delved into each project and participated skillfully to each task, always with accountability, talent and great results, whether she was involved in the production of renderings, plans, diagrams or details

Francesca is a very rounded architect and thinker. She has a positive personality and an extraordinary work ethic. Over the course of the time with us, she took on few different tasks with exceptional care she asked the right questions to be productive within the team, and was also able to work independently, embracing the task at end with meticulousness and maturity. Her visual control, design skills and proactive attitude made her an invaluable part of the team and the office environment. We were sad to let her go!

I highly recommend Francesca Guarnieri She is a delightful, smart and creative young woman who brings her curiosity, openness and positive mind to the studio life, with consistently admirable outcome.

Over the university summer holidays of 2018 Francesca took part in a voluntary project with BVDA’s partner PSD (Partnership for Sustainable Development) in Nepal.

Between February and May 2018, Francesca attended weekly training sessions to prepare for the project in Nepal, actively contributing to group discussions and activities.

The Nepal project group volunteered between July – September 2018. Through this period Francesca worked with the project group to support the reconstruction of a road, the previous state of which was hindering local children’s access to their school. Francesca supported the production of two fuel-efficient smokeless stoves, providing the community in Sima with a cooking resource that uses less wood and therefore contributes to reduced deforestation and improved respiratory health. Francesca helped in the construction of a number of soak pits, helping to deliver improved hygiene through the means to safely dispose of waste water. Francesca also contributed to lessons in the local school, delivering the ‘WASH’ curriculum through engaging and interactive teaching methods that included games, discussions and demonstrations These lessons specifically focused on hand washing techniques, the hygienic disposal of waste and ensuring water is safe to drink.

Through taking part in the Nepal project Francesca demonstrated strong team work, communication skills, reliability, resilience and initiative. BVDA were extremely pleased to have Francesca as part of the team contributing to this beneficial international development project.

Object: letter of recommendation for Ms. Francesca Guarnieri

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have known Miss Francesca Guarnieri during her summer internship at University of Padua in July 2015. She asked my advice on energy problems for buildings, which is my major research interest.

During that period, she showed a strong interest in the use of renewable energies at building and urban scale, in view of designing zero-energy houses and buildings in general and Smart Grid neighbourhoods. I could meet her again in February 2017, when she asked my advice for discussing the work done for her graduating dissertation on autonomous dwellings.

Despite the short period spent in my lab, I could observe her working efficiency, her commitment, passion and overall progress. She is a very hard working, responsible student and she is able to carry out a large amount of work autonomously, delivering results on time.

As a person, she is very friendly and courteous, and her positive personality seems that could foster any interaction. I am confident she will continue to perform very well, and may represent a driving force for her colleagues.

Based on such positive experience, I can rate Francesca a dependable, committed person, who strongly wishes to achieve her goals.

In the case you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With Best regards

20th December 2019

I have known Francesca through my Senior Lecturer Role at the University of the West of England for the whole four years of her Architecture and Planning degree Specifically, I was the Studio Leader during her final year and also taught her during her second year of study . Francesca attended the university from September 2014 until graduating in 2018. She achieved an Upper Second (2:1) grade.

Francesca was a well motivated and interested student on the subject of Architecture. She is open and discursive as well as being prepared to explore new avenues and ideas. I feel confident that she will continue to succeed as she was a dedicated student who has showed progression through her time at UWE. In the Architectural Studio she has proven to be a thoughtful person who is able to successfully develop plans and implement them. I have confidence in her creativity and I am sure that she is motivated to do well in her further studies. She is a friendly member of the studio and contributes well to classroombased discussions.

Francesca has a good intellectual ability. Her strengths include a thorough approach to the work, a good attendance record and a clear idea of the subject matter. She works well as a member of a group.

If you have any questions regarding this reference, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully
