Rehabilitation of the remains of a burnt-out building Design studio V M.Hurtado I sem 2019-20 ValparaĂso, Chile Individual project
The project is located in the historical centre of ValparaĂŹso, in a site officially recognized as a heritage to be preserved. Attention has been paid to harmonizing the facades (rectangular windows, shape of the roofs..) and the proportions of the buildings that compose the dense urban fabric. The aim is to enhance the local architecture and culture by offering the intervention to residents and tourists both. The program is a cultural production center with coworking rooms, arts and crafts workshops, a cafeteria and open terraces to relax, study or work. Based on the particular morphology of the city and the topography of the site, the project is a unique building composed of many different and intertwined units.

Project on the concept of instinct in Milan metro Interiors studio IV P. Salvadeo, L.Filogamo II sem 2019 Milan, Italy With: Sara Spiriti, Giacomo Tura
In the Underground the moment of ‘‘choosing the way’’ is reduced to the few moments of the stop: the user, guided by the stimuli coming from the dock, decides whether to stop or continue his trip. The docks are configured as microworlds dedicated to the themes of leisure, rest and contemplation. De-contextualization and the paradox of performing instinctive gestures in hyper-regulated enviromnents pushes the individual to reflect on his role in the society he belongs to. The tavern of bread and wine is the place where the instinct to satiate is sublimated in sharing a meal with others. In the project these two elements rise to a symbol of humanity, interpreting the production spaces with their respective rituals and times.

A participatory process for the spaces of Bollate prison, Milano Final thesis prof A. Di Franco 2018 - december 2020 Prison of Bollate, Italy With: Fabio Samele, Sara Spiriti [Personal illustrations]

This thesis investigates Bollate Detention Centre’s spaces and establishes a participatory design process to raise awareness of the need for prison-focused projects. The design proposals aim at revealing the potential of underused spaces inside Italian prisons, through sport and physical activity. The research develops within Covid-19 pandemic and follows two lines of investigation. On the one hand, desk research provides a general understanding of the subject of sport in prison against different disciplinary backgrounds. On the other hand, research through people collects stakeholders’ needs and feedback. The interaction with the community is fundamental to make the project a shared modification of spaces and practices.

Reuse and adaptation of San Vittore Church Renovation studio V. Pracchi, L.Barazzetti I sem 2018-19 Milan, Italy With: Giulia Patacini,Samele Fabio, Alice Serafini, Spiriti Sara, Anna Yachaya
The Church of San Vittore ai Quaranta Martiri constitutes a historical and architectural pre-existence, as well as a potential point of reference for the Corvetto neighborhood. The reactivation of a sense of community in this fragile district could take place through the concentration of these activities in a single place with a strong value. For the interior part, the intention was to maintain the original perception of unitary space and adaptable to different activities. To guarantee the exibility of uses, we have designed easily movable modules that act both as containers for mobile furnishings (such as tables and chairs) and as display panels for exhibitions or special events.
Left: general plan. Right: functional module. Section, plan and view from above.

Â’ Â Â A scenic hostel on the banks of the Loire Design Studio A.Maibre, V.Meunier II sem 2017-18 Nantes, France With: Brisoux Morgan, Geindre NoĂŠe
The project is an hostel open to the city and conceived around the themes of the circus and live show. The intervention rehabilitates an existing building. The project maintains the axis of the promenade bordering the Loire river, giving it greater importance and variety. The path becomes the backbone of the whole complex, a kind of porous activity tunnel open on the Loire. The whole project is intended as a vast interweaving of scenic spaces in which the passerby is from time to time public or actor of his own environment. The theme of Circus is declined in two ways: the community aspect related to the nomadic practice and the spectacularity of risk.
