is associated with a fundamental act: Unification, Invasion, Displacement, and with a geometrical form associated with each act: Surface, Point, Line.

he polynuclear character of the city of Agadir has been the first cause of reflection and my design deals with it being located into one of the forgotten terrain vagues in between two districts: the area of the Oued Lahwar, which appears today as a scar into the urban tissue, an undesired abandoned space into the city. My design proposal aims to advance a shift in the perception of this space and more in general a different approach that the Moroccan city has dealing with the emptiness inside the city and with the notion of public space. The intervention is fragmented into three different public spaces that share the same compositional principles, yet having really different character one from the other. Each intervention is associated with a fundamental act, that is taken toward the territory: Unification, Invasion, Displacement and with a simple geometrical form associated with each act: Surface, Point, Line. The dichotomy act/ form defines the nature of the three interventions, that are readable as three separated projects and as a single one at the same time.

The Line / Act of Displacement The line is a walkable architecture, a self concluded promenade. The structure arises as an everyday urban object -a canopy- transforming itself into a linear public space on multiple levels and becoming a point of observation on the city. The rigidity of the line is contradicted by the rotation of the floors which allowed me to create a not univocal relation with the surroundings, a series of open views towards the city, the sea and the mountains. Following the route of the building the citizens, through a gradual and steady ascension, reach the highest observation point of the line, where the low rise, dense Moroccan city is revealed to its inhabitants.

The Point / Act of Invasion The point is a strongly urban project that is eradicated from its natural habitat, the city, and thrown into the bare landscape of the dry river, invading it. It is an architecture that lives in contrast with the surrounding, whose presence is not signaled by anything which is not the architecture itself. The building is located into an excavated plaza 4 meters lower of the level of the ground and it performs as a mediator between the city and the terrain vague, declaring the human presence in an area normally unaccessible. 17


The Surface / Act of unification the unification, consists of an hypogeal public plaza, juxtaposed to three residential urban blocks. The plan is composed as an isotropic space, where the elements are equally distributed through a logic of porosity which do not define any center. The sections show the duplicity of the intervention, where to the covered excavated plaza corresponds a platform, slightly elevated from the level of the ground (around 2 m) that shows to the citizens a different point of view on the city.

Il progetto prevede un edificio che si sviluppa su tre livelli, con chiara distinzione tra le residenze e gli spazi pubblici e semi pubblici, collocati al piano terra. Il sistema delle residenze individua due aree distinte: una corte esterna e uno spazio a doppia altezza, che racchiude le funzioni comuni più importanti. L'intero edificio è sormontato da una copertura che si distacca da esso, andando a unire la molteplicità degli spazi.

he project area is in Testaccio,in the center of Rome, near Roma Tre university. We were asked to create a building for student accomodations (about seventy students) provided with common spaces and relax and study areas. The building is placed in a fragmented urban area, occupied mostly by industrial sheds. We chose not to entirely fill the project area, wich is rather large, but to use it in part as an alternative passage to the road. With it’s trapezoidal shape, the building tapers to one street front, ending with an overhang roof that configures a coverede square. Inside the building, through double eights and transparent courtyards, we tried to create a unified space, in order to promote socialization and communication among students.

L'edificio ha un forte impatto visivo dovuto a questa combinazione di schermature e agli aggetti della copertura metallica che individuano spazi coperti d'uso pubblico.

The pillars sorrounding the roof of the building create a visual and physical relation with the park. The irregular disposition is chosen to not give a direction to the transition and to recreate an artificial forest

T

he loss of human scale and diversification in high density conditions is a recurring topic in contemporary architecture and whether individuality can coexist with it is still an un-resolved question. Egocity proposes a new way of dealing with the increasing urban density in a time when the standardization of the lifestyle seems to be the only possible solution. Rather than being based on imposed aesthetical or functional paradigms, it proposes the individual desire as the only driving force in the creation of the city. This participatory design process is achieved by the creation of a real-time multi-users video game, intended as a platform where the users can shape their apartment on their individual desires, without any mediation. Parameters (volume, surface, accessibility, privacy, sunlight...)have been set before starting the game to evaluate user’s satisfaction about the outcome

Blind Game

Computational gaming was the tool chosen to simulate conflict situations between the citizens/ players. We developed four different video games based on different set of rules. After comparing the different outputs we chose to develop the result of the Blind Game (in which the moves of the opponents are not visible).

he task of the studio was to completely re-design the Nirwana flat, by Duiker and Wiebenga working exclusively with wood, or, as we claimed, with as much wood as possible. The efficiency of the building, in term of sustainability, was one of the main challenge, our design had to be ‘2030 proof’. My design was focused on the re-invention and simplification of the structure and the balconies. In the existing building the plan was indeed completely rigid, with no possibility of evolution or adaptation by the families living there; keeping the minimum amount of load bearing walls, each floor works as a plan libre letting the clients modify the dimension of the apartments according to their necessities. The balconies follow the same concept of “flexibility”, they are conceived as extensions of the houses, with the possibility of being interior space in the winter and exterior space in summer.
