Bio
I was born and raised near Savona where I attended an artistic high school. After that, I studied architecture at Politecnico di Torino. Passionate about arts, in particular, figurative arts but also cinema and drama, my favorite activity has always been drawing, that’s why I consider hand-drawing in my job one of the most important soft skills I have. I like architecture because of the capability to coordinate and direct different systems that affect a project through a graphical language, and that’s why I conceive the role of the architect as a director as well as it happens in filmmaking.
2022, Porto Academy, Walder Nickisch Studio
Expanding. In this work the project is an occasion to investigate how architecture can be a language. The attempt consists in the expression of one only concept, an abjective, through the design of a space which interpretate this oneness, In the left, cardboard, rocks and wax. In the right, foamcore.
2022, Master degree thesis: Projects for floricoltural production spaces in western Liguria Relators. Angelo Sampieri, Leonardo Ramondetti
The subject of the thesis concerns the spaces of floricoltural production and the goal is to develop a scenario of transformation for the Ligurian West, paying particular attention to the Plain of Albenga which, over the course of the twentieth century, has seen the evolution of a city made of greenhouses, garden centers, roads, shade houses, tunnels and houses. The first part
of the thesis describes the morphological, environmental and infrastructural systems that make up the Ligurian West and analyzes the horticultural sector in terms of the number of farms, cultivated areas, goods produced and marketed, in order to identify the effects that these have on inhabited space and local economies. A similar investigation is conducted in the second part of the thesis for the Albenga plain. The third part tells, through a series of interviews with the owners of horticultural companies, about the space of the greenhouses and what is the state of health of the flower sector in Albenga. The last part
presents a scenario of transformation that, starting from the plans and projects in progress at the local level, has two main objectives: on the one hand the enhancement of production, on the other the increase of functions for public use in greenhouse spaces of the city. The proposal in order to achieve these goals is, on one hand, to substantially modify the organization and consistency of the built space used for production, for example allowing volumetric increases for indoor crops, and on the other hand to favor the insertion, within the productive spaces of the plain, of new functions for public use, to be added,
for example, to the already widespread firms' gardens. Within a hypothesis of this kind, the agricultural plain enhances some of its own urban characteristics, which are already partly present, made up of an intertwining of spaces for production, residence and trade, alongside natural infrastructures of high environmental and landscape value
2021, Back to Beira
team: Francesco Bulzoni, Luca De Francisci, Elsam Hamada Mahmoud
As part of the final atelier of the master’s degree course in architecture for sustainable design, we worked on the serious problems that climate change is causing to the city of Beira, the second largest in Mozambique. Built on a plain near the mouth of the Pungwe River, two cyclones destroyed more than 90 percent of the city between 2019 and 2020. The project therefore proposed to address
the issue of floods and urbanization through a system of buildings in the courtyard, each raised on a podium, in order to protect the houses from flooding on the one hand, and to ensure a clear distinction between the public space and the other, characterized by the presence of various services for the city, and the private one of the courtyards.
2020, DISTRICT PARK team: Alessandro Barra, Cecilia Beccari, Francesco Bulzoni, Ilaria Genzano, Giulia Fiocca.
During the lockdown my group proposed this project in the Urban Planning and Sociology atelier of prof. Angelo Sampieri and Silvia Crivello. The project is aimed at transforming an area of the Mirafiori district in Turin through densification strategies, in order to improve the quality of life in the
district and provide the appropriate support for this area to become a new industrial center characterized by places of circular production. The economy and the culture of recycling therefore replace that of the working-class district characterized by the presence of FIAT factories, increasingly abandoned.
2020 - Project of a hotel in northern Turin, Italuy team: Francesco Bulzoni, Davide Scirè
The project of the hotel in the atelier “the sustainable architecture project” carried out with Prof. Carlo Ravagnati was aimed at investigating the relationship between the geomorphology and the architecture of the city. For this project it was very important to consider geographical aspects such as, among all, the presence of the river north of the project area.
