PROJECTS

RW House is located in Pachacamac (Lima, Peru) in a 2,600m2 flat land. The project covers a 360 m2 roofed area divided in two levels. The house sits on an elongated rectangular plot of land and has a “U-form” layout with the open side facing south. On the first level it has the living room and dining room divided by the fireplace, the kitchen, at the end, the two main bedrooms, the staircase, the laundry room and the two offices of the elderly owners. The idea was to create a symmetrical volume frontally towards the east face, with a wide and long terrace that serves the living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom. The main entrance of the house is on the left side (south) towards an interior patio that generates the route to the interior and illuminates it. This patio has a bench that surrounds a tree that links the house to its surroundings. The patio is crossed by a wooden bridge that connects the staircase with the two bedrooms on the second floor. The materials that we use in this house are exposed concrete on the first floor conforming a gray base and the entire second floor is tiled and painted white with sloping ceilings that generate a sensation of searching for the view towards the abundant vegetation of the environment and receiving natural lighting. The elements such as bridges, enclosures and partitions are made of solid wood. The patio floor is made of stone in a square format.

U House is located in Cieneguilla (Lima, Peru) in the center of a flat, square 5,150m2 land. The width of the lot allowed the elongated and loose distribution of the house, which occupies 325m2 on a single level. The house consists of three wings that along with the pool make up an "X“ form. It is accessed by walking from the parking oval through a path of stone blocks to the west wing where the main entrance and the social area are located. It consists of living room, dining room and social terrace. At the junction of these wings we can find the kitchen that is part of the service wing. The three family bedrooms are located in the main wing, each one with its own bathroom and at the beginning of this wing, the TV room which is accessed by a corridor that passes next to the kitchen. This house was designed entirely in pink concrete, it has a stone wall that marks the main entrance and defines a more private garden at the scale of the house. The floor is made of solid flat brick.

IC House is located in a beach condominium 100km south of Lima, with fairly well defined landlots and close together to each other, all of them 9 x 20m. The environment in front is a large garden with palm trees and behind, the large parking lot of the condominium. The layout of the lot is exactly north-south so there are no solar impact problems. The roofed area of the house occupies most of the lot except for the large interior garden that serves ventilating several rooms and accomodates the longitudinal staircase that joins the two levels as well as the roof terrace. The covered area of the house is 290m2. On the first level there are two entrances, one from the back of the house that is accessed through a corridor that passes through the service area and the other one in the front of the house that is the main entrance, which crosses the terrace and reaches the social area formed by the living room, dining room and kitchen, receiving light and air from the garden. There is also a guest bedroom with its bathroom and a guest bathroom. The three family bedrooms are located on the second level, each one with its own bathroom and a family room. On the roof there is a social area that consists: in the front, of a terrace with a swimming pool, a spacious dining room with a large grill cabinet and in the back, a fire pit. The house has a fresh atmosphere that was achieved by combining two materials: exposed concrete (used in key elements such as beams in the facade and the main wall of the interior garden that accompanies the staircase) with painted flat walls in the rest of the house.

DC House is located in Cieneguilla (Lima, Peru) with a 1,100 m2 land area located on a steep slope hill. The project covers a 400 m2 roofed area divided into three levels separated into two platforms; at street level, the parking area and complementary spaces; in the second platform, the social area; and on the upper level the private area, where the bedrooms are located. We proposed a set of volumes made up of the social volume in an elongated linear shape, crowned by a concrete beam supported by stone-veneered walls. Attached to this main volume we have the intimate transversal volume that looks out through the terraces; the vertical volume of the staircase that joins them; and the horizontal volume of the pool that together with the terraces are integrated into the platforms that generate a rhythm with the concrete retaining walls in the gardens crossed by the entrance axis. We used materials that have a timeless character such as exposed concrete, stone and wood. DC House in now nominated in russian Golden Trezzini Awards for Best Project of Private Residence.

MINA House is a two-family house on the beach projected on the north coast of Peru, in Canoas, Zorritos, Tumbes. The lot is squared and quite spacious, 1,660m2 and is adjacent in the southeast with the North Pan-American Highway, which is a high-traffic highway that crosses all of Peru. To the Northwest it borders the Pacific Ocean so it has direct access to the beach. To the northeast there is an exit channel for huayco to the sea and on the southwest side it adjoins a neighboring house. In that area it is common to build with wood from Ecuador because it is an abundant and quite affordable material, which is why we opted for it. The house has 420m2 roofed on two levels, in an elongated form with a central break point that generates an angle. It was proposed to be on stilts to avoid the impact of the floods caused by the abundant rains in the area and the entry of insects and animals such as snakes. The vehicular and pedestrian entrance was proposed adjacent to the neighbor to have a straight entrance towards the sea, walk behind the house, parallel to it and enter it through the central angle that forms a double height space that contains the stairway that integrates the two levels.

This same space allows people to cross the house perpendicularly and go out to the social area that is made up of a large terrace with a pool and a clay oven and an exit path to the beach. As the volume is separated in two, on the first level by the entrance hall, we have at the northeast side the area made up of the living room, dining room and kitchen, which are integrated into a single space. In the southwest area we have a TV room and three bedrooms for rent overlooking a front garden. On the second floor we have the six bedrooms of both families, three on each side placed as a mirror, all of them with ocean views. The house has a large cantilevered roof with an inverted slope that serves to let the wind pass in and avoid the strong heat of the area.

MEC HOUSE

Year: 2018 Client: Martha Eliana Carbajal Location: Cieneguilla, Lima

MEC House is located in front of a wonderful natural environment, large stone hills within a country condominium on the outskirts of Lima, Peru, in the district of Cieneguilla. The main motivation of the project was that its inhabitants could enjoy and appreciate the natural environment. The rustic and rough character of the exposed rock was the result of demolishing the hill at the back of the house, which is what led to the selection of the material of the house, exposed concrete with wood boards texture. Material that generates a particular character that blends with the environment. To continue with this rustic character, finishes were selected such as solid wood for terraces roofs, bridges and window and door frames, brick and stone floors, avoiding the use of materials that provide perfectly flat surfaces. The layout of the house is "L" shaped with one end turned to take advantage of the view of the bedrooms of the second level. The main entrance is accessed across a long stone-paved road, which leads users from the square that is rising to the level of the ground (3m above street level) to the open rock of the hill, crossing a long wooden pergola. The mentioned way traverses the interior of the house, cutting the interior flat brick floor, ending in a small square that ends very close to the rock.

The social area is located on the right side of the entrance hall and the private area is on the left side. The house has five bedrooms for the family, all with their own bathroom, the master bedroom is located on the first level and the other four in the second floor grouped in two pairs. The sunlight impact was solved by approaching the house to the hill and orienting the views of the bedrooms to the opposite side as the sun gets hidden behind the hill. Family integration was sought through the creation of double-height spaces and bridges that surround or cross them.

MEC house has been widely published in Peru and other countries. Several magazines like CASAS, ARKINKA, Dossier, D+ and others had show it. Uruguayan magazine AyD selected the house in their 100 Best Latin American Houses special edition. N° 1 architecture website Arch daily not just published but nominated it to Building of the year 2020 for residential category.

XIS House is a small house located on a 1500 m2 plot of land in a country condominium in the district of El Carmen, Chincha, Ica, 300 km south of Lima, with a fairly warm and pleasant climate. The house was placed near the back of the land, at the north end to be able to enjoy the large garden of the front and generate a linear income towards the house. The terrain is rectangular 30 x 50m with an extruded triangle corner. The house was designed and built in adobe blocks and a flat finish was avoided to reveal the texture of the material. It was painted in light pink with light green carpentry, generating a cheerful, modest and calm atmosphere. The house has a roofed area of 182m2 on a single floor with a square layout that contains in the center a square patio that is surrounded by all the rooms of the house. When you get to the entrance hall, you have to your right side the corridor of the bedroom area, the main bedroom with a built-in bathroom and two secondary ones that share a bathroom. All bedrooms have views to the outside, the east side of the land. The social area is in the other side and consists of living room and dining room, surrounding the central patio. The kitchen and laundry are located in the north part of the house. There is a side terrace along the entire social area covered with an eucalyptus log structure, which contributes to the rustic character of the house.

OEB House was a very large house built in 1990 that we completely remodeled. It is a house on "Misterio" beach, in the center of a horseshoe-shaped cliff and is settled on a protruding rock. It has the main entrance on the upper level and the exit to the beach on the lower level. In the remodeling, an elevator was placed to allow the elderly clients to move vertically through the upper levels of the house. It was sought that all the areas that face west have a view of the sea.

CHI HOUSE

Year: 2005 / 2015 Client: Giuliana Di Laura Location: Chilca, Lima

The project located 62km south of Lima contemplates the landscape design of an existing house in the middle of an olive field. The requirement was to integrate the house to its sorroundings so the design included pathways, stairways, water fontain, a large swimming pool with its terrace and a small building with a bar and a bathroom for the pool users. The project also includes a large outdoor living room and next to it a terrace with barbecue and dining space. The pergola in the main entrance of the house was also part of the project.

CHI HOUSE KITCHEN-DINING Year: 2020 Client: Giuliana Di Laura Location: Chilca, Lima

The main ambience of the house was dark and the kitchen was too small for the family. We proposed a new open kitchen with lighter colours and more space to keep things tidy.
