HEAVY METAL ROCK BAND ‘IRON MAIDEN’ UNLEASH THE BEAST WITHIN “Unleash the Beast Within” is the caption of a fullpage advertisement released in the New Indian Express and other newspapers of March 2, 2007, welcoming to India the rock band, Iron Maiden*, which “ranks fourth on MTV’s ‘Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of all time’.” *slated to perform live in Bangalore on March 17th It also states that their 1982 album “The Number of the Beast” was a Top Ten hit in 1982, and their single, “Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter” was the fastest ever to hit number one. We are informed that the band’s mascot, Eddie that looks like a partiallydecomposed corpse “is a perennial fixture in the band’s horrorinfluenced album cover art, as well as in live shows.” One of the three pictures of “Eddie” have it wearing Team India’s blue, and splitting in two his cricket bat while viciously slamming a flaming ball towards the spectators. The picture of a grinning skull surrounded by a sea of the angry, orange flames of hell fire tops the page. [The ‘iron maiden’ was a medieval instrument of torture.] I quote from Jeff Godwin’s “The Devil’s Disciples, The Truth about Rock”:

“I submit ‘The Number of the Beast’ as evidence that a deadly serious Satan is right now bargaining for the very souls and minds of our children. Billboard magazine’s full page ads proclaimed the record as being ‘Forged in the fires of Hell’ which it undoubtedly was. The album can only be described as satanic. A horrible, decayed creature appears on the cover, manipulating a laughing red Devil, pitchfork in hand, like some gigantic puppet on a string. The Devil in turn has his own puppet, a miniature version of the decayed creature. The earth is a sea of flames, and flying taloned creatures with pitchforks and tails are swooping down on the helpless humans awash in the Lakes of Fire. Isn’t the irony here chilling? Isn’t it obvious what Iron Maiden is trying to get across? Iron Maiden is using the Devil even as the Devil is using Iron Maiden! To a true believer, the choice is crystal clear: It’s time to make some choices, for ourselves and for our children. Will it be God’s way, or Satan’s? On the backside of the album, extensive notes tell us that this album is dedicated to ‘Headbangers, Earth Dogs, and Hellrats everywhere…’ Some of the album’s song titles are equally revealing: ‘Children of the Damned’, ‘The Number of the Beast’, ‘Hallowed be Thy Name’, ‘Run to the Hills’. As if any further examples of Satan’s intent were needed, this quotation from Revelation 13:18 appears prominently on the backside of the album: ‘Woe to you, oh earth and sea, for the Devil sends the Beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short… Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the Beast for it is a human number, its number is 666.’ This verse is repeated as a spoken introduction just before the song ‘The Number of the Beast’ begins. Here are some of the lyrics to that particular song: ‘In the night the fires are burning bright / The ritual has begun / Satan’s work is done…/ I’m coming back / I will return / And I’ll posses your body / And I’ll make you burn / I have the fire / I have the force / I have the power to make my evil take its course’.” The booklet “Rock and Ruin”, published by Freddy Kostka*, now of the Catholic Bible Institute, Mumbai, classifies about 250 individual rock bands in ten “different areas” which “portray the ideals of the New Age Movement”. Iron Maiden are near the top of the list, figuring in these classifications: Occult Influences, Sexual Perversion, Hedonism, Rebellion/ Violence/ Vile Language, Satanic/ Demonic Themes, Blasphemy/ AntiChristian Proclamations, Nihilism/ Escapism/ Surreal Fantasy, Promotion of Murder and Suicide as acceptable, Use of Subliminal Messages/ Backmasking. Read how Korn rock star Brian Welch gave up rock when he met Jesus Christ: www.headtochrist.com The testimony of Brendan Dias* of Bandra, Mumbai was published in the CHARISINDIA issue of March/ April 1996. In it, he relates the account of his bondage to rock music, and its evil influences upon his life. When he let Jesus Christ into his life, he made a bonfire of his three hundred rock music albums. Bosco John D’Souza*, also of Bandra, http://boscodsouza.tripod.com was enslaved to heavy metal till “I burned my full collection of music”. There was a similar testimony from Theo Pereira of Mumbai in the Times of India, March 14, 1992. I did

the same with my own huge collection of rock and heavy metal, in 1982, when I met Jesus. Let Christians stay away from the rock concert and ALL rock music. *three good friends of mine [Published in KC 488/6; MC 669/3; http://gworship.blogspot.com/2007/03/ironmaidenunleashbeastwithin.html 8th MARCH]
