Welcome to our Bespoke department
Whether you need us to design your lights, have a some of our standard products with new colours and tweaks, you are always welcome to contact us with your project and ideas. With several years of experience in design Bespoke lights for the hospitality and contract projects, we are happy to share our project with you. In this first edition of our Bespoke Projects we are introducing you to three big, ongoing projects and we hope to inspire you in your design and building process.

ZOKU HOTELS URBY HOTELS VIRGIN VOYAGES
ZOKU HOTELS
A vibrant design scheme with room for excitement. Zoku provides a home base for holiday and business travelers who want to live (and work) in a city anywhere from a few days to a few months. It’s a home-office hybrid with hotel services, which is a relaxed place to live, work and socialize with like-minded people while getting wired into the city. The collaboration between Frandsen and Zoku is ongoing.

The Ipad light is one of the lighting designs you can find at the Zoku hotels. Placed across the lobby they offer guests easy check in. The finish is black metal with the characteristic red cord that is an ongoing design element which can be seen in several of the designs. The Ceiling fixtures above the breakfast bar is both functioning as a lighting fixture and as an ingredients shelf – creating storage in a clever way.
One of the designs that can be seen throughout the different hotels are one of our well-known products from our Frandsen standard collection. The Benjamin floor lamp is normally available in black, but Zoku has designed bespoke colours and the table lamp now has a pastel expression that brings colour and light into the public areas.
Our collaboration with the Zoku hotels is a collaboration built on the love of design and the attention to details. For the Zoku hotels the Frandsen department created bespoke lighting installations in line with the Zoku design spirit. The importance of developing practical but aesthetic lighting solutions is immense when designing lights for a hotel where the overall expression needs to go hand in hand with the everyday up-keep and practical needs.
For Zoku hotels Frandsen developed a variety of different lamps which all were kept in the same design style, creating coherence and consistency in the design. Besides new developments, the Zoku hotels also features lamps from our Frandsen standard collection where our Benjamin series has gotten new, bespoke colours, making them fit perfectly into the Zoku aesthetic.
A statement piece which can be found in several of the Zoku hotels is the grand, black ceiling lamp with several light sources and the characteristic red cord.
We also developed several ceiling spots and wall lights for rooms and public spaces. Kept in a black design the red cord is creating coherence and a clear, playful design line.
One of the most eye-catching lighting installations is the big Z O K U letters with light that can be seen through the glass wall.

URBY
HOTELS Urby is one of our large, ongoing projects. Starting in 2013 and still running, the collaboration is based on a recipe for success with close alignment between design and development and the concept is recognizable throughout all the brand’s destinations. From 2015 - ongoing 2022

Our Frandsen bespoke department has made several bespoke pieces for the hotels, starting from 2015 with the Staten Island hotel and continuing in 2022 with the Stamford Hotel’s second phase. For these projects we have developed several different types of lighting as ceiling fixtures, hall-way numbers, bathroom mirrors- and lights and outdoor pathway lights.

For Urby we did several different types of bespoke lighting installation. 1. Matt glass pendants in different shapes creates an eyecatching and interesting lighting installation across the larger table in public areas. 2. We delivered lighting fixtures for the mirrors in all rooms. 3. With Urby’s own design, we made room numbers in a creative and cool way.
The white glass pendants can be seen in several of Urby’s hotels where they creates eye-catching installations with their interesting shapes and textures.
VIRGIN VOYAGES Four ships and an ongoing collaboration. From 2020 - ongoing 2022
Our Bespoke department has delivered – and are continuously developing lighting solutions to the Virgin Voyages’s ships. Covering both public areas and rooms this project is an excellent example of the various competencies our skilled Bespoke department possesses.
Our collaboration with Virgin Voyages is a continuing journey on sea. For the four luxurious cruise chips we have developed a huge amount of different lighting designs. In a mixture of lamps designed by Virgin’s own designers and lamps designed by Frandsen, we have drawn all lamps and overseen every detail from production to delivery and installation. With more than 150 different series of bespoke lamps, this project has been an explosion of creativity and true craftmanship and our skilled designers and engineers have worked with many different approaches and techniques to get the exact look and feel that the ships request.

DIFFERENT SPACES WITH DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES
With several concept restaurants and entertainment areas, each new space has a new concept and thus the need for new lighting designs. This is why we have produced more than 150 different series of bespoke lamps for this project, each adding to the design and mood in each space.
AN ARRAY OF COMPETENCIES At the Frandsen Bespoke department we are always welcoming a challenge. Whether it may be concept development or producing lamps already designed, one of our top focuses is a close collaboration and communication with our customer in order to make sure that the final result are as perfect and integrable as possible.
