Jacek Malczewski 1854-1929

Biography Jacek Malczewski was born on July 15th 1854 in Radom. He was a painter and ilustrator. He is one of the main representanta five of Symbolism in Polish painting. Jacek Malczewski is also one of the greatest and famous artist in the history of Polish art. When he was 17 he moved to Krakรณw and there he started his artist education. In 1872 he took drawing lessons from Leori Piccard. He studied at the school of Fine Art in Krakรณw and in 1875 he began master classes with Jan Matejko. He was travelling a lot ( Paris, Munich, Vienna, Italy, Turkey) but he took his inspirations from Polish art., traditions, and folk. Jacek Malczewski lost his sight at the end of his life. He died in 1929 .
