CIVIC CENTER Location: Ryde, Australia Phase: Concept Contribution: All Instructor: Yaohua Wang Duration: 08/2018 - 12/2018 Published: 03/06/2019 http://www. suckerpunchdaily.com/

Paintings become three-dimensional to see how Rorschach-inspired composition performs at an architectural scale. Semi-symmetry and the repetition of the irregular to produce a new regular were strong interests.

Irregular Regular Is it the abstracted forms of the paintings or the repetition of the abstract that produces meaning? Does the repetition of the irregular create a new regular?

Semi-symmetry Bi-lateral symmetry is very common in natural compositions. Closer analysis reveals that many beings in the natural environment are made up of partially similar forms that duplicate across different axes.

02 REFRAME

REFRAME Location: USC Campus, Los Angeles, USA Phase: Concept Contribution: All Instructor: Christof Jantzen Duration: 08/2017 - 12/2017

Due to the unpleasant nature of materials and general design commonly experienced in parking garages, most users simply want to exit as quickly as possible. Simultaneously, parking structures represent a building typology that is becoming increasingly available for sustainable reuse, now and in the future. This project reimagines the possibilities of the parking structure by inserting an adaptable dormitory community.

03 EXPO CHARGE

EXPO CHARGE Location: Exposition Park, Los Angeles, USA Phase: Concept Contribution: All Instructor: Scott Uriu Duration: 08/2016 - 12/2016

The pavilion is designed as a programmatic hub for

users attending events at surrounding locations. Expo Charge acts as a recharging destination for electronic and personal resource renewal. The 500 square foot pavilion is articulated through a substructure and clad with a panel system which blends into the natural landscape. On the southern facade, photovoltaic panels collect energy to power the electrical outlets.

04 ARBUTUS MARINA

ARBUTUS MARINA Location: USC CAMPUS, Los Angeles, USA Phase: Concept Contribution: All Instructor: Yo-ichiro Hakomori Duration: 01/2017 - 04/2017

Finding shade and connection to the natural landscape can be difficult in the Los Angeles climate. Arbutus Marina is designed to create a connection to natural features on-site, providing a singular space for introspection on the USC campus.

05 THESIS UCSB

THESIS UCSB Location: UCSB, Santa Barbara, USA Phase: Concept Contribution: All Instructor: Eric Beltz Duration: 01/2016 - 04/2016 Exhibited: 2016 UCSB Art Show

My undergraduate art thesis focuses on the relationship between line and form. Specifically, I am intrigued by how the manipulation of line can influence three-dimensional design. A series of drawings depicts how this relationship affects one’s perception of their surrounding environment, and, in turn, how that perception may change their psychological state. Blending art, psychology, and architecture, this body of work represents both the current and future directions I wish to pursue.

concepts to others. I am fascinated by an image’s

the world, formulate my own ideas, and convey ability to tell a story. This project depicts a fleeting moment where two individuals peer over a bridge in Foster City, CA.

This project visualizes time as a three-dimensional continuum rather than a linear timeline. Processing language was used to control the spatial size, color, and placement in the X, Y, and Z dimensions. Selfreflecting images humanize the artificially created array.

07 WORKS OF ART PAVILION

WORKS OF ART PAVILION Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Phase: Schematic Design, Design Development Contribution: Roof structure design, module organization + detailing, grasshopper scripting, programming, documentation in Revit, module detailing, iterative rendering, physical model building Principal: Christian Robert, R&A Architecture + Design Duration: 06/2018 - 08/2018

The Works of Art Pavilion is a gas station of the future

where petrol gasoline is no longer needed. Situated at the base of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this pop-up pavilion proposes how future charging stations can function and adapt to different sites. The creation of adaptable retail space, informal relaxation areas, and placemaking were strong concepts in this project. As an intern at R&A Architecture + Design, I designed the roof structure and modular boxes that it covers using Grasshopper, Rhinoceros 3d, SketchUp, and Revit.

October 31, 2018 Re: Frank Conrad Intern Recommendation Letter To Whom It May Concern: I am pleased to submit a letter of recommendation for Mr. Frank Conrad. I first met Mr. Conrad as a guest critic for the final review of one of his graduate school studio finals. His project was among the best of his class and serves as a great example of his talent and work ethic. Mr. Conrad joined our studio for a summer internship from 06/04/2018 – 08/17/2018. As an intern, he was an integral member on several different projects for the firm. Most notably, he worked on a prefabricated container pavilion covered by an innovative bamboo roof structure. His passion for architecture and design is contagious and omnipresent. Mr. Conrad’s design talent, work ethic, and attention to detail are outstanding and rivals that of fulltime employees. He was well respected by his fellow colleagues and I am confident Mr. Conrad would be a great addition to any firm and team. Best Regards,

Christian Robert Co-Founder, Managing Principal R&A Architecture + Design, Inc. Los Angeles, Portland
