His architectural inspiration is sourced from the works of Tadao Ando and Jean Nouvel. Frank thrives on the challenge of new adventures. His design education has been complemented over the past 2 years with industry related employment in retail and design at Poliform Sydney and Domayne Alexandria.
OVERVIEW
PROJECT 1 HOSPITALITY The Carrington Hotel Opened in 1883 as The Great Western, the hotel was renamed "The Carrington" in 1886, in honour of the then Governor of NSW, Lord Carrington. 6
Major alterations were made in 1911 including the famous art nouveau stained glass faรงade at the front of the hotel. Many famous people visited the hotel including the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Elizabeth the Queen Mother) in 1927.

The Flower Duet
The Flower Duet is a duet in the first act of LĂŠo Delibes' opera LakmĂŠ, premiered in Paris in 1883.
The Flower Duet
It is the conversation between an Indian princess and her servants as they go to gather flowers by a river. The exquisite blending of soprano and mezzo-soprano voices in close harmony throughout the piece is sweet and pure that enables the two flutes to sing together rather than competing tonally.

The water feature of a 3-metre wide bronze fountain reflects the spectacular beauty of the gracefully aged stained glass dome, dueting with the ceiling roses painted in microcement, showing tremendous respect to the original architectural feature and integrity in the structural form of the building.

PROJECT 2 COMMERCIAL Showroom Foyer Project
24
25
DESIGN BRIEF We are to design a foyer of a commercial building located at 82-84 George Street, Redfern, which was built in 1870. 26
The new commercial furniture tenants wish to bring the building back to its former glory, transforming the space into a showcase of local and international design products from around the globe.
A mixture of functional yet industrial style is envisaged to act as a neutral backdrop, highlighting the furniture and lighting on display. There should be a delicate balance between the raw warehouse envelope and the refined and polished insertion of the objects within.

Proposed: linked by the foyer
Albert Einstein once said, “Time is an illusion.” It is the feeling I would like to offer in the foyer of the showroom. Using white mesh to assemble Neoclassical architecture elements in the glorious Victorian time when
the building was built, the concept “Illusion” transformed the space into a showcase of a delicate balance between the raw warehouse envelope and the refined and polished insertion of contemporary endeavour.
Extensive application of mirrors on the floor, ceiling and walls created not only the illusion of infinite spaces in 3D view but also an illusion of travelling through the fourth dimension – time.

PROJECT 3 RESIDENTIAL The Tiny House Project DESIGN BRIEF A working couple have bought a very narrow burnt out house at 43A Edgeware Road, Enmore. We have been asked to design the interior of their home.
The clients have diverse occupations. One is a book editor who will operate from the home via the computer and has a passion for Latin American music.
The clients want an innovative, contemporary design that respects the integrity of the original building.
The other is a fashion designer and loves the artwork of the Spanish artist Miro. The couple enjoy entertaining and require guest accommodation for one visiting couple.

“I try to apply colours like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music.” — Joan Miro
Mood Board
All interesting spirits take certain form to show their beauty: It is the rhythm and movement of Latin music and dance, it is the floating shape in vibrant colours of Miro’s artwork, it is the Victorian pattern on the iron work that decorates the house and survived the century.
The Tiny House
The staircase becomes the new spirit of this old Victorian terrace house. It is designed to have dichroic glass balustrades and cast iron floating steps with old fashioned Victorian decorative patterns. During the day, when sunlight shine through the new skylight opening on the ceiling, casting some colourful Victorian shadows on the white concrete wall, materials start to talk to each other, colours start to dance and change along the day. The sculptural balustrade rises like a ribbon, all the way to the rooftop lounge extension, then pixelates into small pieces which becomes pendent lights.
Ground Floor Living/Dining
• 7m long joinery to hide: dining table, all kitchen and laundry appliances. • Shelves at the transition space, connecting two functional spaces: the dining and the living • White oak timber floor laid in horizontal fashion to break the elongated visual distortion. • Sofa bed to provide accommodation for a couple. • Backyard living space for plantation and simple outdoor furniture.

PROJECT 4 COMMERCIAL The Exhibition Stand Project
DESIGN BRIEF We were asked to design a trade exhibition stand within a space of 6 x 3 x 3 metres for the Liquid Glacial chair.
52
Liquid Glacial chair is an extended part of a collection design by the late Zaha Hadid, including tables, stools, and vases etc that each resemble ice-formations. The geometries appear transformed from solid to fluid by the subtle waves rippling below the surface.
