A Closer Look

Greetings, Franklin College alumni and friends!
There is nothing quite like Homecoming on a small college campus. At Franklin College, even with the wind and rain from Hurricane Helene, our Homecoming events a couple weeks ago were wellattended, highlighting the lifelong impact a small school experience can make.
At Franklin, every activity emphasizes the personal connections alumni share with the institution and each other. From athletic hall of fame inductions to class reunions and the celebration of the 50th reunion class, Grizzlies of all ages return to the place that helped shape their futures. Members of the Class of '74 reminisced about how Franklin’s faculty and staff saw potential they themselves did not yet see, pushed them to work hard and inspired their success.
Homecoming events offered alumni the chance to reconnect with former classmates, professors and affinity groups. Tents for academic majors and student organizations offered a space to relive great memories with professors and classmates. While the football game played on, alumni gathered along Grizzly Drive, catching up on life and mingling with current students. Many brought the spouses they met at Franklin and some introduced their children who are now FC students.
When the game ended with an exciting victory, there was no rush to leave. Homecoming at Franklin is too special for hasty goodbyes. The day finally concluded hours later with promises to return next fall.
There are many different opportunities available in higher education. It’s even possible to earn a college degree without ever stepping onto an actual campus. But to realize the unique and enduring value of this experience in its most personal and impactful form, one has to see, hear and feel the excitement and emotion of Homecoming on a small college campus. I invite you to visit ours next October. Nobody does it better.
