BEN WOULD BE PROUD OF THIS PLACE.

WE’RE PROUD TO SHARE OUR NAME WITH

BEN FRANKLIN. He’s one of history’s biggest celebrities, known as a writer, printer, inventor, scientist, statesman, and leader. With such a wide array of interests, he’d surely have appreciated Franklin College’s liberal arts curriculum, leadership studies, and experiences that will expand your world. He would’ve liked Franklin, Indiana, too, and not just because it was named in his honor. The town is home to 22,000 residents and plenty of small-town charm. And, of course, Franklin College – and the big-time opportunities available to our students, from internships, research, and study abroad to campus involvement, athletics, and service learning. We share in Ben’s belief that a drive for self-improvement and a commitment to service are keys to success. And that a passion for life and learning can take you anywhere.

WE HOPE WE’RE DOING HIM PROUD.

Franklin is just 20 miles south of Indianapolis – an easy trip for students to take advantage of the opportunities the city offers without sacrificing the small-town charm of our hometown.

MAJORS

BEN TAUGHT HIMSELF ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY, NAVIGATION, LOGIC, HISTORY, SCIENCE, ENGLISH GRAMMAR, AND A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF FIVE LANGUAGES. Thankfully, we have professors for that. And with an average class size of just 15, Franklin College professors get to know you – and inspire you to do things you never thought you could. That’s the beauty of a liberal arts education at FC. You’ll experience things far beyond your major. Above all else, it’s a balance between self-exploration and career training. We want to prepare you for a job – and for the world. Ben Franklin called it a liberal yet practical approach to education. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

We believe in the importance of global exposure and provide scholarships for our students to study away for a winter term, semester, or year.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO TRAVEL THE WORLD

TO ATTAIN A WORLDLY POINT-OF-VIEW. BUT IT CERTAINLY DOESN’T HURT. Ben Franklin’s travels gave him a global perspective and at Franklin College, we want the same thing for our students. Here, you’ll learn just as much outside of the classroom as in. And it’s why we have a month-long winter term specifically designed to give our students the opportunity to intern, study abroad, or conduct research. Students study in places like Hong Kong, Paris, and Istanbul. A little closer to home, you might intern with a senator’s office in Washington, D.C., or with Eli Lilly in Indianapolis. (Or both: A whopping 97 percent of FC students complete at least one internship before graduation, and many do more!) And students majoring in the sciences partner with faculty members on research projects – and then present their findings at state and national conferences. With these experiences, it’s no wonder that 95 percent of our students are employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation.

DON’T JUST BE AN ATHLETE. BE AN

INSPIRATION. More than 35 percent of our students participate in our 19 intercollegiate sports. That’s a lot of Grizzly pride! Our studentathletes are equally successful both on and off the field. That’s because at Franklin College, every athlete is a student first.

BEN FRANKLIN WAS A STATESMAN, THINKER, PHILANTHROPIST, PRINTER, SCIENTIST, REVOLUTIONARY, AND INVENTOR. WE CAN RELATE. Some of our best athletes are also student congress members. Sorority sisters are standouts in drama club. And biology majors lead our service projects. That’s the kind of college this is. Students are active in service projects like Habitat for Humanity and Best Buddies from the moment they set foot on campus. Literally: their first day is Franklin College’s FOCUS Day, dedicated to “paying it forward.” (One guess where that saying came from. That’s right: Ben.) Beyond service, you can dive in to any of the more than 50 student organizations on campus. You could take to the airwaves on the campus radio station, step into the spotlight with theatre productions or the FC Band, or write articles for The Franklin, our campus newspaper. You might also enjoy training for the Grizzly Grand Prix, or gearing up for Greek Week games. And you’ll always find a crowd of tailgaters cheering at football games. JUST A FEW OF OUR CAMPUS CLUBS: Greek life (five fraternities, three sororities), Drama Club, FC Athletic Training Club, FC Interfaith, Black Student Union, Grizzly Pride Alliance, Student Congress, Earth Club, College Mentors for Kids, FC Dancers, Pre-Law Club
