The Winston County Self Help Cooperative will host a forestry field day on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 10am at 10451, CR 844, Philadelphia, MS, 39350. This property is in the Stallo Community, north of Philadelphia. Travel six miles north on Hwy 15 and turn right onto Cr Road 844. Drive 2 miles and property will be next door to William Lyons house. Participants will observe two tracts of loblolly pines planted in 2018. One tract received a burn before planting and the other tract did not receive a burn. Eugene Livingston, Area Forester for Natural Resources Conservation Service, will discuss practices implemented and growth of trees. Priscila Williamson, Supervisory District Conservationist, will delineate the process of applying for cost share assistance through NRCS.
