Status as of January 2023
Land has been acquired to support the delivery of a future school site within Wallara Waters. We will continue to work closely with the Victorian School Building Authority and will update the community with further information as this becomes available to us.
No status change: The masterplan of Phase Two of the project – south of Taylors Creek – has been designed to incorporate a Council-run Community Activity Centre adjoining the proposed school site.
We’re continuing our discussions with Council over a prospective purchase of the proposed site.
Proposed Retail/Commercial
Mondous Property Australia
No status change: Economic analysis has indicated that by approximately 2026 Wallan East could support a neighbourhood shopping centre based on the main trade area growing to a population of 29,000.
Other factors that will influence the timing of a development include economic conditions, tenant demand and Mondous Property’s own requirements. The timing for the neighbourhood shopping centre therefore is not known yet.
Mondous Property will review this again in early/mid 2024 and we will provide the community an update.
Sales

Stage 22 land sales continue to the south of Taylors Creek. There are also some remaining lots in Phase One. Lots currently on the market range in size from 350 to 486 sqm and are priced from $314,000 and $410,000.
Hume Freeway Bridge and Macsfield Road

An additional road connection is planned in the southern section of Wallara Waters which includes a new bridge over the Hume Freeway.
Mitchell Council and the Department of Transport have approved the functional layout for Macsfield Road. We are now in the process of seeking Department of Transport approval for the Northern Highway/ Macsfield Rd intersection upgrade and signalisation design. Construction on this project is expected to begin in the final months of this year.
Preliminary design for the Macsfield Road bridge will be provided shortly to Department of Transport for further comment and approval.

Taylors Creek and wetlands system

Our major landscaping project to create the wetlands has remained on hold due to the extremely wet, unworkable conditions.
These works require a drier environment and we anticipate Summer 2023/24 will be the appropriate time to advance this element. Following outfall improvements to be undertaken in neighbouring Yarra Valley Water land in late 2023, the water body will be pumped down in preparation for further wetlands works. This work is subject to approval by Melbourne Water, Yarra Valley Water and VicTrack.
Major Roads Projects Victoria
