EDITOR’S NOTE

Welcome

Welcome to the first edition of the new look Connect community newsletter. We’re reshaping this publication into a community focused newsletter, distributed three times each year, providing more opportunity to share what’s happening at Hamilton Reach and the surrounding neighbourhood, key contacts, and opening the opportunity for resident stories, initiatives, and moments to connect.

For those of you who are new to Hamilton Reach, my name is Marion and I am the Frasers Property Community Development Manager for your community. My role is to create opportunities for residents to come together, connect and support one another as neighbours. This year we have a number of events rolling out, both Frasers Property and resident-led initiatives that you will see throughout each issue of Connect. I look forward to meeting new and existing residents throughout the year, and in the meantime if you would like to champion any initiatives or reach out to discuss the community, please contact me on the below details.

100 Years of Frasers Property

After celebrating the milestone of turning 10 here at Hamilton Reach last year, 2024 marks a major historical milestone for Frasers Property – a centenary of developing Australia that extends all the way back to the days of property pioneer T.M. Burke in 1924.

This is a milestone our team are very proud to be part of through our commitment to building stronger, smarter, happier neighbourhoods that create a sense of belonging. A big part of how we’re celebrating this year is through initiatives in our communities, so keep an eye out to see how you can take part this year. You can also read all about our property history in the new Live Proud magazine at the link below.

Great Neighbourhood Survey

We’ve learned a lot about what people want from their communities across our 100 year history, but there’s always room to learn more. So thank you to everyone who took part in our recent neighbourhood survey, the response was wonderful. Congratulations to Cobey Parnell for winning our lucky draw!

400+ Awards

We were pleased to hear that 80% of residents who participated agree that we have created a strong and connected community and that 87% of respondents feel living at Hamilton Reach has met their lifestyle expectations.

Our Frasers Property team are now collating your feedback to evolve how we create considered communities in the future, both here in Queensland and nationally across Australia.

Development Update

The completion of Rivers Reach last year was a key milestone for the evolution of the Hamilton Reach community, with all stages in the Parkside Circuit precinct now complete.

We are very proud of the bold architectural outcome at Rivers Reach, and how it seamlessly enhances the streetscape of the award-winning Parkside Circuit. An architectural achievement that was recognised at the UDIA Qld Awards, with Rivers Reach nominated as finalist for both the Marketing Excellence and Boutique Development Awards, and more recently nominated as a finalist in

The Urban Developer Awards with the awards to be held in July.

We have recently completed kerbside rectification works and landscaping around the pocket park in the Parkside Circuit precinct and wish to thank all residents for their continual patience during this time.

For the year ahead, the Frasers Property development team continue to explore ways the final stage at Hamilton Reach can respond to state government and Northshore scheme aspirations, and the important role this site plays in the current housing crisis. As we have updates, we will be sure to share these directly with the community and via the HRCA.

Northshore Brisbane

We’re fortunate to have a vibrant and diverse collection of local businesses, entertainment and discovery activations along the riverfront at Northshore Hamilton. Below is a snapshot of what is on and coming up within the Northshore Brisbane precinct, with new activations being added regularly. Keep an eye on their social pages at this link:

On a final note, this year we are proud to be celebrating our 100 Year Anniversary at Frasers Property. Communities like Hamilton Reach exemplify how thoughtful planning and the prioritisation of social interaction have created stronger, smarter, happier communities. This will be our greatest legacy.

We also encourage residents to keep up to date with the roadworks scheduled for our neighbourhood, and encourage you to check the Have Your Say page for EDQ at the below link. It provides a single source of truth for timings, closures, and updates to take place over the works period.

A RIVA Renovation

It was wonderful to see so many residents attend the recent Neighbours Every Day pre-opening event at RIVA Kitchen & Events. After the success of their sister cafe at Roma Street Parklands, The Garden Room, Josie and Simon Garbutt jumped at the opportunity to create something really special here at Hamilton Reach. I think we can all agree that Josie and her team have done an incredible job to revitalise our local cafe into a beautiful meeting space for Hamilton Reach residents and the broader community.

Josie and her team celebrated the official launch of RIVA over the May Labour Day long weekend, extending a warm welcome to local residents, small business operators, and dignitaries from the area. Attendees had the honour of being greeted with a traditional Welcome to Country by Uncle Billy, a respected member of the Turrbal community, and treated to delicious canapés from RIVA’s event catering menu.

To keep up to date with other events at RIVA, be sure to follow them on socials at the below links.

AN UPDATE FROM the Hamilton Reach Community Association

We’ve had an excellent start to the year at Hamilton Reach, witnessing residents coming together for both informational and social gatherings. Elisha Matthews, the President of the Hamilton Reach Community Association, has actively engaged with residents to facilitate community connections, providing access to resources, addressing concerns, and liaising with relevant stakeholders.

In February, we organised an event in collaboration with the Queensland Police, focusing on educating residents about personal safety and property security within our community. This included guidance on effective communication with the police to aid in crime prevention efforts. Fortunately, our area has maintained a lower-than-average crime rate, and our emphasis on awareness aims to sustain this trend.

We’ve also maintained an open dialogue with the local Council, now under the leadership of Councillor Julia Dixon, who shares our commitment to enhancing

liveability and safety in Hamilton Reach. Recent improvements include enhanced accessibility at the bus stop and the reopening of the public toilet near the cafe, with ongoing efforts to improve night-time visibility and safety around the area. Discussions are underway regarding parking enhancements for deliveries and visitors, while meetings with Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) have resumed in preparation for upcoming roadworks. Residents showed their community spirit by participating in Clean Up Australia Day in March, and we continue to encourage reporting of issues to the Council through their call centre or the Snap Send Solve app.

We’re excited to revive the community Twilight Picnic this year and invite residents to donate via our Containers for Change code C11404833 when recycling your containers. We welcome new suggestions for this event, please reach out if you would like to discuss. www.hamiltonreach.org.au

Anzac Day 2024: Light Up The Dawn

We are excited to present a roundup of the 2024 Anzac Day ‘Light Up The Dawn’ event. Sheila and Carla, the dedicated minds behind Hamilton Happenings, once again rallied the community to organize a deeply touching gathering at Northshore Park. It was a beautiful sight to witness residents of all ages from Hamilton Reach and Portside come together, both in the park

and on their balconies, to commemorate this significant day. As the morning fog dispersed and sunny skies emerged, they shared a gunfire breakfast, symbolising unity and remembrance. This event truly exemplified the spirit of community bonding, and we eagerly anticipate its return in 2025.

JUNE Coffee Connections

Did you realise that a quarter of Australians admit to experiencing loneliness—a significant issue affecting community health? Surprisingly, loneliness remains a topic often left unaddressed. In response, we’re taking steps to tackle this by introducing a monthly Coffee & Conversations meet-up at RIVA Kitchen. It’s a chance for residents to come together, connect, and engage in meaningful dialogue. Keep an eye out for more information as we’re excited to share this opportunity with you soon.

We’re delighted to announce the return of the 3 Mile Race to the shores of Hamilton Reach this year. Drawing approximately 90 rowers, the race kicks off at Pinkenba and concludes at Northshore Riverside Park.
