Spring Break Theater Camp - THE LION KING with KIDSTAGE

“This will all be yours someday Simba. It’s an honor. This is the land of your people and it is your job to protect it and help it flourish.” When the King of the Pride Lands goes missing, his son must find himself and learn how to protect his land and his people. Join Simba and a lively cast of safari friends in this coming of age tale about what it means to believe in yourself and be a leader. Follow Simba, Nala, Timon, and Pumba as they confront the evil Scar and his mangy pack of hyenas in a battle to get their kingdom back. With a colorful cast of zebras, elephants, cheetahs, and giraffes, your child will have a blast tapping into their “animal” nature and learning what it means to work together and trust in your friends. Youngsters that are interested in getting more comfortable in the water are invited to join the entry level of the After School Swim Club. The group is meant for kids in the skill levels of 1-2 in the Learn to Swim program. We encourage that all participants be comfortable in the water and prefer that they have done at least one session of regular swimming lessons; however, this is not a requirement. The sessions are one hour in length, with the last 10 to 15 minutes set aside for play! There is a little of everything: Stroke Refinement, Personal Survival, Team Games, Buoyancy and Diving and the always popular playtime! Each session will be a different game to pique the participants interest. During the course, sessions will seek to improve the basic strokes and water skills as well as introduce more advanced techniques with safety and confidence in the water remaining a priority. The Functional Movement Screen is an assessment to document movement patterns that are key to normal function. Assessing these patterns, the FMS identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness. The FMS generates the Functional Movement Screen Score, which is used to target problems and track progress. This scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns. The FMS score is used to track progress and identify exercises that will be most effective to restore proper movement and build strength. Please contact our Fitness Supervisor: John Florkiewicz, john@fraservalleyrec.org for more information and to schedule an appointment.
